Thank you! Unfortunately I forgot to unfreeze one of the credit bureaus and now it's in manual review purgatory and I need it by the 2nd the latest! We'll see what happens.

Did you unfreeze and call them? I've done that and gotten an approval without more review.

If you did call and there's more review it's not because your credit was frozen. They can't review anything until they've done the hp.

I called a second time and that's when they mentioned there was a freeze. I said once I lift it how will they know to review it. The rep said they get a notification because apparently the request for the file is in queue? I guess that makes sense. I'm going to call again in a few hours and see if there's any progress. I should've just done the 120k match when it was available with the 40k referral. Now I'm scrambling lol

I'd call again and let them know it's been thawed. I'd have done it when I was on the phone with them.

I've only ever heard of people calling to let them know it's thawed, not just doing an unfreeze and waiting. I wouldn't trust they get a notification. Plus if you only do the thaw for a day they may to pull it before it's frozen again.

Not sure if it makes a difference or not but I have also been making sure I have balances on my business cards before applying so far 🤞 have had 2 instant approvals since having been denied in February
That's a good strategy. How much do you try to have on each card? The notice in my Chase account said too many active accounts or too much available credit, too many requests for credit, new Chase card recently, and low usage of credit. I'm going to try again in 30 days. I've requested my CIC be closed since it recently hit a year. I'll review my business credit and drop some limits if I can and I'll add some charges to each card.

WWYD re: Hyatt retroactively seeking payment?
Just received an email regarding a stay which was completed at Hyatt Place Amsterdam, 45 days ago.

"Unfortunately, your arrival time was at 3:00 AM, and as we did not receive prior notice of your late check-in, our system automatically canceled your reservations. As a result, the World of Hyatt points you used to pay for your stay were refunded back to your account.
We kindly request that you settle the bill for your 4 rooms, which can no longer be paid with points. The total amount due is EUR 736.00"

I replied back that
1. I informed them prior that we would have a very late check-in and specifically requested they hold our rooms
2. When we arrived, they informed us that the system cancelled, but that it wasn't a problem and they got everything squared away.
3. I physically checked out at the front desk in the morning and was not informed of any balance outstanding.

Essentially, I've asked what they are going to do to rectify their team's mistakes, as the guest, I did everything I could be expected to do.

I don't have an issue either paying with the points I thought I'd paid with or paying what I think the points are worth, which is $390 USD, not the $822USD they are requesting. I don't believe I presented a cc at check-in, but my CSR is tied to the Hyatt reservation. I'm not trying to get anything for free, but don't think I should be expected to pay an arbitrary amount.

If you informed them by e-mail and they responded, I would forward that. I wouldn't pay either. If they charge your card, I would contact the Twitter Hyatt Concierge or the consumer affairs e-mail that gets mentioned on FT.

Anyone use Chase travel Portal? What do y'all think about the current targeted offer of get 20k points
for $500 hotel stay? I got it on all my cards (but rules are only use 1) and DH got it on one. We got 2 hotel bookings early next year so thinking about switching them to portal.

I always book direct because my biggest nightmare is arriving somewhere and they can't find the portal reservation. Offer is very tempting.

Not sure about the offer. I’ve used the portal to book hotel rooms all the time. Probably at least 20 times. Just my experience but I’ve never had a problem or had a lost reservation. Not to say there can never be a problem but it has worked out fine for me so far. Happy travels.

I have never booked a room through the portal, but with a confirmation I wouldn’t expect a problem. We sometimes book airfare through the portal, and the only problem is when the airline changes our flights to unacceptable times and we need to call, it is always an hour on the phone with Chase travel to fix it. I will have to check my cards for that offer!

I have booked a few times too, never an issue.

Its one of the ones where u enter last 4 of your card # to check your offer.

Thanks for the advice. I have worked with consumeraffairs in the past to resolve an issue once and that did work out.

Unfortunately, I have no record of an email exchange and I think I recall it was via messaging with the property through the app with them a few days before check in. I didn't think to screenshot that, but I can add that to the million of screenshots I take now.

When we returned back in August, I did notice charges pending and then they were refunded. Which sorta made sense, they thought I no-showed, I showed, and they refunded the charges. So this is obviously just a complete screw up on their part.

I'm happy to work with them, but don't come at me with "Because you didn't notify us..."

I’ve booked hotels and it was fine. I’ve booked flights and didn’t love it since the airline won’t talk to you and only refer you to chase. I’d use again for a short hotel stay.

When you messaged the hotel through the app, did it stay in app? When I've done it in the US, it's a regular text message. Can't remember if I've tried internationally before.

I hope your reply message is enough to resolve it.

I have booked many hotels and cars to the portal, never had any issues but I always contact the hotel directly to give them my contact information, of course most of the hotels I've booked have been out of the country.

It’s been a huge headache been on the phone with them all day. Multiple reps. Different departments. It finally got passed the fraud department and now it’s in the hands of another department with the old you’ll be notified in 1-2 weeks. At this point I wanna pull it because I can’t get it in time. It’s really annoying how the left hand of Chase doesn’t know what the right hand is doing. I love Chase UR points but I can’t stand Chase customer service. I will always go AMEX whenever I can just for how easy they make everything

I use my CICs when Staples has the fee free gift cards…usually I have $5,000-10,000 on those when I apply, I also use to pay off charges has they hit the business cards, but now I let the statements close with a balance then pay them off…no idea if it helps or not data points are all over the place on Reddit as far as having balances, the number of cards open and credit limits
