We are headed to Portugal in August. Where in Portugal are you planning to go in January?

We've been all over Spain but never Portugal. Will have two weeks so plan to do a lot. Lisbon as a base for several days with various day trips, then I'm thinking fly to Madeira for a 2-3 days, then return and go to Porto. Haven't worked out the itinerary, though, these are just preliminary thoughts. May have a couple of days to do something in Paris before flying back home depending on how much we want to do in Portugal.

I made the same mistake on my first Bonvoy 5 FNC offer, thinking it was points. It happens, but you live and learn.

1. No agent will convert them to points. The promo you signed up for was 4 FNCs.
2. The 4th night free applies to points. You aren't booking with points, you are booking with FNCs or as IHG calls it, a reward night. So you will not get the 4th night free when using certificates/rewards nights/free nights.
3. I've never booked more than one FNC at a time, but try booking just one at a time. You book it by going to your rewards wallet (click on your name and scroll down to rewards wallet). You should see "You have 4 free Nights." Click there and book one night at a time. See if that allows you to top off the points.

Thanks for sharing your experience. Yes, I tried to book one night at a time and only one night was eligible for a free night redemption. So, we will save them for other trips and went with plan B. Live and learn is right!

Question for folks playing the game with fee free VGC from Staples: have you ever been blocked from checking balance/registering/setting pin for an extended period of time?

I will often get an error that my browser has been blocked if I go through and register several cards at once, but switching to incognito fixes this typically. Today, I get the error in regular Chrome, Incognito Chrome, Incognito Firefox, even after a full system reset. Not sure if I should just wait it out or if other folks have had similar experience and, if so, what was your resolution?

Portugal is high on my list of places to visit! Not sure if you collect HH points / FNCs, but there is a very nice Conrad there, which I will def visit if / when I visit Portugal.

Has anyone bought discounted uber gift cards to add to your account? I'm wondering if you can choose to use your credits received from AmEx before using the gift card balance? We are going to be ubering a decent amount at the end of this month/beginning of next and I'd love to be able to add gift cards to get the discount, but I want to be sure to use my June credits in June before applying the gift card balance if possible.

STL pros.... do they ask for liquids removal thru tsa precheck there? (Some airports don't do it) wondering how to transport a larger container of body butter type cream or if they'll even ask

It should use the Amex credit first and then the gc if there's a remaining balance. I did have one month where less than a dollar of the Amex credit was left, for some reason it didn't use it all.

It doesn't matter if you have tonpull stuff out or not, they can still see it and make you get rid of it. If it's more than 3 oz it's not worth the hassle. Either get a smaller container to take what you need for the trip or check it.

I have not had that issue with the Visa GC, but it has been a while since I have tried. I have recently had issues logging into several of my other accounts (verizon, Starbucks) on my desktop computer, but was successfully able to do it on my phone (browser, not app). It has been weird and I haven't found a solution yet.

I had this last week too. Ended up going through a different browser. Very strange.

Is it just with one particular card or with any card you try? I've had that happen lots of times and incognito or switching browsers has typically fixed it. Had it happen once though when it was just one card and when I called the number on the back it had already been registered and used by someone.

Never happened to me. Currently playing. I use a hardened browser (except when it makes websites break), I wonder if that helps?

We've never had to remove anything from our carryons, but we've never had anything near the limit either, so not sure if it's something over the 3 oz limit

Speaking of Uber credits, we used Uber in Mexico last month and it used my credit first. We were in Niagara Falls over the weekend, Canadian side and ordered Uber Eats and it did not take my credit for June? No big deal, I'll use it, but weird.

Yes and I prefer it. It is tough to get to sleep in London due to the time difference, but I'll take that any day over an overnight flight where I don't sleep. I'm flying it again this year.

The day time flight seems so awesome. Ds hates sleeping on the plane so I’d rather position and get one of those flights instead of fighting him on sleeping. Where do you fly out of and with who? It looks like British out of New York might be our only option to get business class seats with two seats together.
