Soooooo this is kind of a deal (for me at least) but I REALLY need all the collective wisdom/experience here... I have a friend who booked a flight into a storm watch city (Hartford) for tomorrow (Tuesday) THRU the UR portal on Jetblue....(They did it without asking me,and by the time I knew it was too late to advise differently) so now b/c of the storm predicted,I'm trying to help them keep ahead of any changes that might occur (I see SWA has a storm notice up,but JB site doesn't) HOW do I help them if they cancel or offer a free change? Is the only recourse to call the UR travel agent to rebook? From what I've read, you can't just rebook via airline site if booked using UR points.....(aaaaargghhh) ANY advice is helpful here,I think I may get a call later today asking for help on this one....

I believe they will be able to work directly with JetBlue unless something has changed. I’ve had JetBlue flights booked through the chase portal before and was able to cancel and/or make changes myself. I know certain airlines don’t work that way (American specifically), but I’ve also been able to manage my own changes/cancellations with United when originally booked through chase.

IRROPS should be handled by the airline directly. Once you can check in for the flight the airline has control over the ticket. Before that, you would either deal with the travel agent or pay the airline to take control of the ticket. Most of the issues with third party have to do with refunds, not IRROPS changes.
I just plunked down $40 on priority boarding with SW. Kinda pathetic LOL, I'm such a baby. I got b58 and didn't want to board that late, so I just pushed the button, and poof, money spent LOL.
Now I have a5. This is the stuff I can get away with traveling alone.
I did the same thing coming back from MCO in January. Forgot to check in on time, ended up C 14, $40 later I was A11. Wouldn't have done it with the family with me, but just me, I didn't even think twice about it.

We had a Sat-Mon stay booked with points at a Hyatt this weekend. Our flight delayed, and we didn't check in until Sunday around 11am. When we checked in, they said we were "no show" for Saturday night and by policy, the points are refunded and we would be charged the full rate (something like $500). Do I have any recourse? I spoke with the supervisor and he said it's corporate policy and there's nothing they can do. Do I just have to eat the cost of the first night?

Thank you!

Did you contact them ahead of time letting them know that you would be a no-show?
I would contact Hyatt via twitter and ask for help.
If this happens again, make sure you contact the hotel to let them know not to mark you as no-show.

You can ask, but I wouldn't expect much. I would be grateful that they didn't cancel your whole stay if you didn't inform them you would be quite late. If you did inform them I would keep going up the ladder, you did everything you could and were supposed to. Was this in the US?

Yes, I had called them Saturday at the airport as soon as we knew when we would arrive, so that they wouldn't give away our room.

Need your thoughts, please:
I still have 200K miles/points tied up in Virgin Atlantic for the Japan trip that we had to cancel.

We are on a tight budget now because we just bought two (used) new cars at the same time. Previously we had not had car payments for several years so this is quite difficult for us.

I have about 300K Chase URs just sitting around.

Without going "aspirational" do you think it's still possible to use those VS miles to book ANA (would have to be biz both ways assuming I can even find availability) and use the Chase URs for hotels, thereby reducing most of our out of pocket costs? I know fuel surcharges are still significant and I know we'd have to buy food still, but as far as flights and hotels? My original goal was about 12 days and I doubt we could stay for that long due to the points needed for hotels, but I would really like to try again while I still have family living in Kyoto.

I don't have enough MRs to do anything with, really. No other hotel points or anything like that.

Based on what I have seen from ANA availability using ANA miles, this will be extremely difficult.

Check out the Award opportunity thread.
Should be able to get a good idea on random availability.
I booked all Japan hotels on the Chase portal (except Hilton Tokyo Bay).
I think if you stay away from theme parks you can make it economical.

Well I was kinda hoping maybe some advisories would come up so maybe the airlines would be flexible w/ changing flights. I know my BF is having a hell of a time w/ MCO right now. He couldn't get in last night from AUS. He timed out as they had a ground stop. So he's now flying the same flight today, and same thing, ground stop. My kids want to go to FL and I'm like NOOOOO! Too many issues w/ the dang FL airspace.

I was thinking if there was something issued, maybe I could try AL out of Chicago, or PHL instead. But I guess we're going to hope and pray our luck changes! My friend works for Hilton. Normally w/ a big storm they get an email prior about cancellation procedures and waivers. She hasn't gotten one yet, so maybe that is a good sign.

I’d guess that the Aer Lingus crew will be the crew that flew in the day prior, so they will be fresh and ready to fly as soon they can get out of Boston. Worse case scenario you have a delay of a few hours — I doubt it would be an entire day because they have a plane load of passengers to get out the next day. It wouldn’t hurt you to know what other airline(s) have a flight to Dublin around the same day and time that your are going. BA may have something to Heathrow and from there it’s a quick flight to Dublin.

People in Dublin are super nice and very friendly, so I’m sure the rental car company will help you even if you have a slight delay picking up the car. Maybe call them tomorrow, ask to speak to a manager and have them note your reservation (may have a weather-related delay).

You will get there and you will have an amazing, memorable trip with your dm and dd.
The flight departs at 7:15pm. It's a turn, so the plane is coming from DUB. So I guess I'm hoping you're right and it's the crew from today's flight so they aren't timed out. I don't know the rules international and if they fly w/ a relief crew. I know my BF timed out last night even after extending. His day started at 3am and at 1am he was still on the phone trying to deal w/ everything!

I hope the trip is amazing!

I'm in MA, about 40 mi south of BOS. Our local weather is saying the worst of the storm won't be until late Tues. Maybe that eases some anxiety? Saying a prayer for you. Enjoy your trip!
My DUB flight is at 7:15pm. I'm not as worried about getting to BOS as I am, getting out. Fingers crossed!

I'm stalking JB too! But I saw this morning Spirit, JB and Delta didn't have any kind of notice on the website. So I'm really hoping I get to BOS and out of BOS!

Interesting... so I canceled my sw card, which is showing canceled on my account but there's still an AF showing and my bill is due tomorrow. I called chase and the woman on the phone basically told me to pay it and at "some point" it will get refunded. Does that sound right?
If it's still showing due today I'd pay it and then request the refund as soon as it shows negative. The AF refund takes a couple days for it to process and it will be backdated to the AF charge date, if you cancelled within the cancellation window. They give themselves a few billing cycles to give the refund but IME it's been just a few days. However, if it's not a few days, I don't want the hassle of having a non-payment, or interest, or fees to get worked out on top.

If you request a refund of a negative balance (or transfer to another card) it gets processed in a couple days as well, so minor inconvenience for piece of mind, in my book.

I have never used an airport lounge in my life. I am currently sitting in a minute suite in Nashville. This a great. All alone in a room for an hour in the middle of an airport. 😝
My son and I used one once late at night when we were delayed in Atlanta. I wouldn't pay for it, but it was okay for something that was free:)

We used the ones in Nashville when our flight was delayed. I agree, I doubt I would pay for it but when it's free why not. On the other hand, depending on how desperate I was to get away from people, I might pay for it. Nice to have someplace quiet to quiet your mind.

I’m headed to Germany for 5 weeks leaving early April to visit our daughter and family. Grandson #2 is due to make his appearance on April 13. I invited a friend to come visit the end of April. She would love to visit Paris and I’m trying to plan a quick one night trip with her leaving from Paris back to Houston. We’ll take the train from my daughters house on Monday April 24 arriving before 10am at Gar de est in Paris. Only Hyatt hotel option since this is last minute is for the Hyatt Madeleine for 25,000 points but it’s only one queen bed. Does anyone have any suggestions? I don’t have Marriott’s or Hiltons points. I even considered the airport location but they are no longer a Hyatt hotel after April 1st. Paris hotels are expensive!😫

So now all airlines are offering waivers for BOS. But Aer Lingus is not! So I guess we have to hope we can get to BOS tomorrow. I swear the freaking anxiety! UGH.....

If the JB flight cancels, will the trip cancellation from my CSP cover our Ireland expenses if the Aer Lingus flight doesn't cancel? I'm getting told no on FB.

Ugh…no idea on the CSP coverage….but is there anyway you can switch to a flight to BOS tonight
