I only got one new card this year so I haven’t been on the board much like I was a few years ago. But it was a SW so I was happy to get some new points. Ended up using half of them for my Son in law and my other daughters fiancé to go on upcoming vacation with us. 🤣😅
Question for any citi card experts. My oldest citi card ( over 20 years) originally was called Choice I believe, got me 2% cash back. It accumulated and was paid as a statement credit every year in January. That card has since been converted to a black diamond but still had the same benefit for me. Well I just went to check to see how much my cash back for this year was and didn’t see it listed on my most recent statement! I researched beck to October and found in the fine print the program was ending as of 10/14/22. I will still get my cash back up to that point but did not earn any more. So any spending I did since then, no cash back. My own fault for not noticing on the statement. 😙😳
My question is does citi offer product change? I don’t want to close the card and lose my longevity with my oldest card. But also wouud rather product change and have a card with a good cash back. My brother has one called double cash back I believe which he says is basically the same get 1% after spending and then another 1% when you pay your bill.

Does anyone have the Wells Fargo Active Cash Card or the Citi Custom Cash Card? I'm looking at buying a couch and am interested in mitigating some of the expensive delivery fee with SUB and cash back. I'm interested in the Citi Custom Cash card because it gives you 5% cash back on your largest spend category, but wasn't sure if there are limitations since it says "Eligible spend category". Otherwise the Wells Fargo gives the most cash back for the couch specifically at 2% back. Didn't know if anyone had them and had experience with them (or a referral to share).

We use the Wells card as our base spend when we don't have a better category or are working toward a new card bonus. We picked it over other 2% cards because it also offered a sign up bonus (I don't think the Citi double does, or it didn't when we were applying).

It seems to pull from the same rewards buckets as the Chase cards, so you can also get some good offers on it.

Anybody get to Belk regularly? I see a 10% off on my Chase Sapphire. Wondering if they have Disney gift cards. There is a store not far but I don't often shop there.

Also, I've been slow about redeeming my 6 Office Depot offers but they were good until end of December. This morning they are pushed back to mid January. That's very okay with me as I can get through paying off January 1st's bills and push that expense to February.

Hopefully Staples still has Visa $200's left today. I haven't picked up my usual allotment.

Yeah, Citi Double Cash is what we use as our base card when not working on something else, Its essentially 2% back, can be redeemed for statement credit, deposited to your bank, for gift cards, etc. Citi does allow product change, so that’s probably a good option for you.

@Judique I don’t have a Belk store.
I picked up a bunch of the visas at staples earlier this week. I had an offer on my chase biz card for an extra 1% if I spend $5000. Will take me a bit to get that many but I have until end of Feb.
@Crazed4DisneyinSC - thank you. I will call to request it.

Thank you for the info! Are there any referral perks?

Citi does allow product changes but not 100% of the time; I pc'd my old Citi (Diamond? can't remember) to a Double Cash a couple years ago, which is the card you're describing. For a while though some people weren't being allowed to pc to that card, and you'll only know when you call the number on the back of your card to pc. Another card you might consider for pc is the Citi Custom Cash which gets 5% in your top eligible spending category up to $500 of spend each month, then it's 1%. Eligible categories are:

  • Grocery stores
  • Restaurants
  • Gas stations
  • Streaming services
  • Drugstores
  • Home improvement stores
  • Fitness clubs
  • Select travel
  • Select transit
  • Live entertainment
You don't have to declare any category as one you want the 5% in, Citi just automatically figures it out. It's a NAF card, and has a $200/$1500MSR/6mo SUB (which won't matter if you pc since you don't get a SUB for pc'ing).

The Citi Premier has its historically high 80K/$4K MSR/3mo SUB right now and has a $95AF, if you're looking for a good SUB with Citi. Since it's a MC, it can be used on Plastiq for loans/mortgage payments if you have those, and that helps to take care of some of the MSR. Plastiq does have a 2.9% fee so you need to decide if that's worth it (you can get a small break on fees if you use someone's support link on dischurners).

All three cards are part of Citi's Thank You rewards system and points can be combined.

Question on SW cards. My two cards are up for renewal and I'm planning to cancel them both, and I know I should wait until the anniversary points post before I cancel and ask for a refund. But, what I'm wondering is if I could use the two free EBCI for the new account year, wait for the credits to post, and then close the cards, basically double-dipping the EBCI benefit? My statement for both will be closing in the next few days, and the AF was just posted on 12/1. TIA!

Thanks for the info! I think the double cash would be best if they let me PC. If Not I’ll just sock drawer the card and apply for something else in a few months.

Going to use P2s support link for the Biz Plat. Is 150K the best support offer? or should I go with the Biz Gold for 130K MRs/$10k MSR?

I don't think so. Not seeing one on my portal, a quick google says Wells doesn't do support bonuses.

You definitely can. We did this with Hubby's SW card. Waited for the points, added EBCI on an upcoming flight, then cancelled.
