Well I managed to take advantage of the Kohl's offer on my Chase card, and I did one of the 2875465 OD offers I had on a card too, LOL. I am not in Christmas Spirit this year at all. I'm sure because of my dad. I have the tree up, not decorated. I have like 3 items to my kids, etc. We all have the first week of Jan off, and I've thought maybe just used my BF's buddy passes for the kids and take them somewhere. IDK.

In "good" news, I got the insurance check today. And it was the full amount. I was SHOCKED! So looks like I can go back to possibly planning a Hawaii trip for the summer. But I also need to figure out what to do with the money. I think I'm going to do the $1k Huntington bonus.

Came someone explain the best way to use the Chase instacart credits? I'm not an instacart person, but I'm all for using my "free" benefits. I saw w/ door dash I can let the credits stack for 3 mos, so I'll likely do that. And the go puff I have like 47564 credits for are worthless, right?

As usual I’m struggling with Christmas gift ideas for 8th grade son. (His siblings have long lists.) Aside from gift cards - which is all he says he wants, anyone have any good generic teen boy gift ideas? Stocking stuffers suggestions?
My son wanted clothes from Zumiez and Shein. Oh and tennis shoes.

Need some confirmation on the SW companion pass. My friend referred me and gets 25k bonus for me getting approved. She shows 31k “pending” points and was told that they post to the next statement. With those points, she’d get a companion pass for next year. It sounds like the close of this statement is the end of her “year”.

Any experience? She can spend enough tonight to meet it, but would rather wait and have that on the next statement. Will the credits post? Should she just buy stuff tonight? She’s never gotten it before. Thanks!
Be very careful! Tried to get companion pass and points posted in record time and screwed us out of the pass. These point posted faster than any we'd ever earned and showed up very early. It seemed as if it was done purposefully by Chase and SW. Don't trust anything they tell you! Was the end of our relationship with both.

Will her current statement close this month or in January? Are you saying she has 94k SW points already earned this year (for a total of 125k if the 31k post this year)?

The points post when the statement closes. It likely posted fast because you earned them close to your statement close date. You can check your statement to confirm.

We’re supposed to go to Iowa for Christmas but after looking at the temps I think I’ll stay home 🤣
Nah, come on up. The Midwest has a lovely bit of snow just in time for the holidays. ❄️⛄
Has anyone seen this deal? https://slickdeals.net/f/16308325-verizon-customers-free-12-months-netflix-premium-w-subscription-25

My DH just sent this to me so I haven't researched it yet but it seems too good to be true. Get the lowest subscription service @ $25 a year and have it and Netflix for a year???
I don't know about too good to be true. T-Mobile has free Netflix all the time plus rates that don't go up. 🤷🏼‍♀️

After much prodding, my 8th grader asked for earbuds, a watch 😱 and Xbox games. Plus sports jerseys from his fave team. My nephew, also an 8th grader, asked for Legos and more Legos (his birthday is also in December). His twin sister asked for an Ancestry DNA kit.

The Chase cards with Instacart credits also come with varying lengths of Instacart + membership. Sign up for Instacart (free) then activate your membership by going to Chase card benefits page and clicking Activate. The memberships stack if you have more than one card with benefits. My membership currently expires in 2024 as I added CFU, CFF, CS and CSR. When you put in your address or use location, you can see which stores offer pickup and delivery. Some stores have minimum purchases for delivery and though Instacart + has 'free delivery' there are still fees and tips so usually the cheapest option is pickup. I do Aldi pickup weekly and Costco delivery maybe once a month. (I haven't been able to lift things since I broke my shoulder so it's been super helpful plus I detest going to Costco as the closest one is always packed.) For Aldi pickup, Aldi employee does the shop, texts with questions or out of stocks. I am notified when order is ready (within my chosen pickup window) I hit 'On The Way' button in the app, I arrive and groceries are loaded in my car. Easy peasy. If you don't want to use it for regular groceries, there are lots of other stores near me that are available but YMMV.

It closes tomorrow. She has like 108k. So the 25 alone put her over or she can do some shopping.

If she doesn’t get it because she could have finished her Christmas shopping tonight she’ll get online.

Like they posted too fast and ended up in December?

If I have a Chase Freedom card (applied for over 5 years ago) and I'm applying for the Chase Freedom Flex card do I still qualify for the SUB?

If she has 31k pending and it closes tomorrow those points should hit her account in a few days. She’ll get the CP for the last couple weeks of 2022 and all of 2023.

We won’t be able to play in the snow if it’s negative out with windchill though lol

Question on SW cards. My two cards are up for renewal and I'm planning to cancel them both, and I know I should wait until the anniversary points post before I cancel and ask for a refund. But, what I'm wondering is if I could use the two free EBCI for the new account year, wait for the credits to post, and then close the cards, basically double-dipping the EBCI benefit? My statement for both will be closing in the next few days, and the AF was just posted on 12/1. TIA!

The EBCI benefit is an anniversary year benefit, so, you'll need to wait for the anniversary of opening the account, and then AFTER the next statement closes to use that benefit again. You said the statement closes in a few days, wait for that, use the EBCI credits, wait for charges and credits to post, and then cancel. I have done exactly that and it works easy peasy. You can even SM to cancel if you like.

Is the support link 20k? If so 170k MR for 15k spend gets you an additional 40k for an extra 5k spend. And potentially more useful benefits for the AF. I’m thinking if you are good with the 15k spend go for it. However, that’s a great offer for the Gold even with its useless card benefits. I think it’s kind of a wash. Just depends on your tolerance for the MSR and AF.

I personally did the 130k offer for the Gold because 15k MSR is more than I want. With that said I just took an upgrade offer of 140k MR to PC to the Biz Plat for 10k spend.
Nice upgrade.
We could make the $15k MSR. We have $10k in home repairs that need to be paid next week and I called to make sure we could pay using Amex, I was wanting to put those expenses on Chase CIUs to float the 0% APR, but we have the cash to pay for those expenses so might as well earn some extra MRs.

Sounds like a Biz Plat is a good plan. I would have gotten one a while ago if I could have easily hit the spend. That’s a nice amount of MRs and you get 1.5x points for purchases over 5k. A nice little bump in addition to your bonus, and of course, it’s triple dip month. Keep us posted.

My sons have asked for Lego, YoungLA shorts, "professional" Frisbee, sports team clothing

I also use Aldi for the Instacart. I order a huge pack of toilet paper and a big pack of paper towels on each of our cards each month. The Ultra paper towel is as good or better than Bounty.
