You definitely can. We did this with Hubby's SW card. Waited for the points, added EBCI on an upcoming flight, then cancelled.
My annual fees on 2 SW personal cards posted the end of November - but still no sign of the anniversary points - how long does it usually take for them to show up?

I Just saw it on my green card. Hmm and expires in 2 weeks. Some other offers expire after 2 months.
They dont give you long to think about it. o_O

I think it's not a new offer, but the same one that came out in October. Some Amex Offers have a limited quantity that can be saved. This RCCL one didn't last that long before it ran out. I was surprised to see it come back. Maybe not that many people actually used it so they pushed it back out.

As usual I’m struggling with Christmas gift ideas for 8th grade son. (His siblings have long lists.) Aside from gift cards - which is all he says he wants, anyone have any good generic teen boy gift ideas? Stocking stuffers suggestions?

I actually had it a few months ago....BUT with cash back on another card. I had Princess NCL
and RC . Added them but just let them expire (regrettably) Now I have RCCL again but this
time Holland was offered which is rarely offered on my cards.

Does anyone have the Wells Fargo Active Cash Card or the Citi Custom Cash Card? I'm looking at buying a couch and am interested in mitigating some of the expensive delivery fee with SUB and cash back. I'm interested in the Citi Custom Cash card because it gives you 5% cash back on your largest spend category, but wasn't sure if there are limitations since it says "Eligible spend category". Otherwise the Wells Fargo gives the most cash back for the couch specifically at 2% back. Didn't know if anyone had them and had experience with them (or a referral to share).

Thank you for the info! Are there any referral perks?
DH & I both opened WF Active Cash last year. There was a $200 cash back bonus plus 15 month 0% APR. (No referral bonuses) i never carry a balance but decided to take advantage of the 15 month because I am getting a high interest rate on my cash savings. I am keeping my utilization on it to below 30%. It does get bonus offers, I know I used a 10% Office Depot offer on it.

I am not a huge WF fan, but also not a Citi fan. I cancelled my Citi Double cash after they accepted fraudulent changes in foreign currency twice in one year.

Sooo just got approved for Amex plat 150k. They said card will be here in 3 days. Im praying
it will so can double dip some things. On the other hand DH opened his almost to the day
a year ago and now wants to close. Hopefully AMEX wont smell a rat.

Amex kinda makes me nervous. Yesterday for the first time ever I bought a virtual visa on my
card and they flagged it. Chase..Discover..Citi ..CapitalOne did not blink an eye. lol

Your dh isn't closing a card before he hits the credits again next year right? You have 30 days from the af posting to get a refund.

He opened it Dec 20th but the Annual fee got charged in January. Should he wait until after the
annual fee hits? If he even closes. The new lounge changes irritate him. I will be curious
if they offer retention. He put about 25K on it after initial spend.

It's usually a few days after the statement closes, not when the AF is charged (I think). I haven't gotten mine yet, but should in a few days.

You can always double dip the calendar year based benefits on 1 AF. But right now is the special triple dip season. :)

Better not to buy Visa/MC with Amex if it's from somewhere they can tell that's what you're buying.

Definitely try for retention on your DH's plat. He can do it now via chat or call. If he's going to close it, use the credits in January and then close.

Going to use P2s support link for the Biz Plat. Is 150K the best support offer? or should I go with the Biz Gold for 130K MRs/$10k MSR?
Is the support link 20k? If so 170k MR for 15k spend gets you an additional 40k for an extra 5k spend. And potentially more useful benefits for the AF. I’m thinking if you are good with the 15k spend go for it. However, that’s a great offer for the Gold even with its useless card benefits. I think it’s kind of a wash. Just depends on your tolerance for the MSR and AF.

I personally did the 130k offer for the Gold because 15k MSR is more than I want. With that said I just took an upgrade offer of 140k MR to PC to the Biz Plat for 10k spend.

Nice! Where did it show up? I've been checking mine but no luck.

When you get the card (and before 12/31/22), use all the credits. 1/1/23-12/31/23, use all the credits again. After 1/1/24 and before 30 days after your AF posts, use all the credits again. :)

Benefits to use:
$200 airline incidentals credit (check Flyertalk for loopholes)
$200 hotel credit

Uber credit is $35 in December.

Don't forget to select your airline and activate the ones that need activating.

ETA: Forgot $50 Saks lol. Which you can quadruple dip.

I can honestly say DH never used this once and I completely forgot about it.
$50 ..What can we get? A pair of socks? lol

Thank you so much for your help. These are absolutely great tips and ways to maximize benefit.

*edit..I just looked at Saks site and they actually have more stuff than I thought for under 50.

I've bought:
- skin care
- fancy lotion/shampoo/conditioner I wouldn't normally buy
- towels on sale
- kids' science kits on sale
- small Henckels knife and cutting board

Just some ideas. :)

You can buy a gift card with it if you want to save up for something bigger, but you'd have to go in store.

Im thinking about taking DH with me to buy DD something in store. ( a def drive). Just so that
we may split the charge on something 100 or over. Any recent DP's on getting a gift card in store?
Does it still qualify. thanks

Need some confirmation on the SW companion pass. My friend referred me and gets 25k bonus for me getting approved. She shows 31k “pending” points and was told that they post to the next statement. With those points, she’d get a companion pass for next year. It sounds like the close of this statement is the end of her “year”.

Any experience? She can spend enough tonight to meet it, but would rather wait and have that on the next statement. Will the credits post? Should she just buy stuff tonight? She’s never gotten it before. Thanks!
