So, then it showed he was pre-approved for the Cap One Venture. He was approved for that but only with a $3000 Credit Limit. And I had an idiot moment. I was there why he was doing all this and then didn't even think of the referral I could have done (and the referral link is right in my email...) so that was a fail and loss of 20,000 points!!!

Not to rub salt in the wound, but a support link for Capital One might be as much as 25k.

Like someone else said, he could try for other Amex biz cards, using incognito mode and with and without support links. Sometimes you'll get the pop up, sometimes not, even on the same card. Some have speculated that Amex has an algorithm for how much the bonus + support link is worth vs how much they value the applicant. So sometimes adjusting the bonus or support link can factor into pop up vs no pop up.

There are a couple of really good sales going on that match up with Amex offers. Urban Decay has some great palettes for up to 50% off and everything 30% off. Raku10 was 19% back yesterday (6% now) plus an amex $15 off $75. Great gifts for anyone that wears makeup - I love their eyeshadow and it holds up really well. Today, Sperry (the topsider people) have a big sale (you need to put in your email) with a bunch of shoes 60% off. I got 9 pairs (for the 5 guys in the house) for $250 after code SPERRYVIP and $30 off $100 Amex offer. Raku10 was 3.5% back. It's not often the Amex shopping offers are of any use to me but these were great for Christmas gifts.

So DS applied for CIU yesterday. Said - We cannot approve you at this time. We will send a letter in 7-10 days - assuming this is a denial?

In other news. DD finally got TS Tickets at 5:30 last night. Then she asked if I had any hotel points so they can stay after the concert. OMG - the hotels right next to the Venue (US Bank Stadium in MSP) were going for $700-$1000 a night. Was able to get her a Marriott about 6 blocks away for 30,000 points. So, happy I got that. I'm sure all the hotels will be sold out here soon for those nights.

I'm from the area and we booked our rooms on Monday ahead of the sale and I was thrilled to get the Hilton for 60,000 points a night, I rarely stay at Hilton and don't have any transfer partners so those points were just rotting anyways. We got a double bed and I think it was one of the last ones as it was already gone by Tuesday. The room rates are INSANE, I can't imagine paying cash. Pickings are already slim so anyone who didn't book right away will definitely be out of luck. I wonder if a lot of fans booked before the sale as room availability was so low. Maybe things will open up if lots of people didn't get tickets? Just wild to see those rooms going for so much when they're usually like $150/night. Heck I stayed at a BW downtown for 10,000 points just earlier this year. I am so glad for points for things like these as they don't feel like "real money" like paying cash!

I don't believe they want to control the resale market since they also offer that service. There's no incentive for them to limit or get rid of bots.

There's also such a mountain that a potential competitor would have to climb that it won't happen until venues and artists come together and say no. Plus I'm sure each venue has a contract with them with the fees they pay.and the % the venue gets back. But it's ridiculous that they have been allowed a monopoly for so long.

This exactly. TM has an exclusive rights for most venues so until the venues and artists say no, not much will happen. TM was a monopoly way back when you had to stand in line to get tickets.

I booked a room yesterday for 1 night in May at the MCO Hyatt because I had a Chase offer for 15% off. I’m looking at my chase account now and the charge is not showing up or pending at all. Is this normal? I already had a UR points reservation booked, which I canceled because this deal was going to save me an additional $50, but if the charge isn’t going to post to my account before the chase offer expires, then I might as well go back and book it for points!

I've had success by calling the hotel and asking them to take a payment. This worked for me several times in the past as I had expiring credits. Don't know if your Hyatt will do it, but might be worth a try to call the actual hotel directly and ask them to charge payment in advance.

timeline- thur-Fri lowered CL's-app'd for CiU thru a CiC refer link on Monday night- got 'wait and see' page- Tues. am saw it in my acct page-SM'd to expedite- it arrived Thursday in afternoon at some point- was able to use it by 3 pm on Thursday. (whew....so glad I could find a stove on sale that could be delivered by Saturday!) now to pay allllllll the realty taxes and insurance bills coming up (again, hate spending $,love a good MSR bonus)

Rona Round 2 has been great. I'm fine during the day, but my nights are terrible. Luckily it's just a bad cold, nothing more. But today I'm over coughing up the phlegm. My throat is raw. I was supposed to be going to LA tomorrow

As for T Swift. I'll admit, my BF bought 6 with the idea we'd take some, and he'd resell some (to offset our cost). I couldn't check out during the Cap 1 sale for tickets. It kept saying I wasn't signed in...but I was. So all we have are the tickets he got. We posted them on StubHub during the frenzy. But now there's a rumor that they are going to cancel any tickets posted for resale. So we pulled them for now, as we want 4 of them and would hate for them all to be cancelled. Since you can't get the money until after the show, we have time to list them still, once all this craziness goes down.

Does anyone know, can my mom transfer URs to me? I'm on her Chase bank account, so I feel like I could argue we are the same household. Thoughts?

Wanted to share my and dd’s amazing 1 bedroom suite at the lovely Muir Halifax last night that cost me nothing (but cost dh his $95.00 AF on the bonblah cc — I used the FNC + 9k pts — the suite would have been $900.00 / night). I had to do a bit of suite talking to get the upgrade because they usually only upgrade ”1 category”, which would’ve been at most a junior suite. We had a jr. suite last time and while lovely, it was rather dark. The hotel said they would be pleased to upgrade us to the Shannon 1 bedroom suite for our stay this time! Yay! We really enjoyed it! The platinum breakfast is $36.00 pp and it is plenty for a full breakfast for both of us and the food is AMAZING at the on-site restaurant! Looking forward to our stay in a month for dd’s final.

Sorry, forgot to take pics of the bathrooms (1 full with separate shower and f/s tub and a powder room). Dd wanted to study for her mid-term and I wanted to head out for lunch.

I took the house Range Rover to a really nice (and very popular) coffee shop, then walked back down the main shopping street to the hotel and drove did to her exam at Dalhousie. Afterwards we met my cousins for an amazing dinner!

Yikes. Nightmare. I don't keep a checking acct linked to paypal anymore. This morning I needed to transfer my rakuten payment to my checking acct. I added it, transferred the money, and deleted it.
(I tried to spend the money directly from paypal, but it charged my CFF instead. That is fine for the 5x bonus but I wanted to drain PP.) As soon as I meet the spend on my CFF I am deleting that from PP as well. Paypal getting hacked is one of my fears.

I have the same fear with Venmo, but need to transfer money from there often so I keep a different checking acct which rarely has more than a few dollars in it linked to Venmo.
