So, our recent travel plans have been leaning very non points heavy. We did Disney world and now the Grand Canyon. Looking at a Disney cruise for spring break and probably Yellowstone next summer.

Been using all my southwest points and cps to get where we’re going, not not a ton of points options once there.

My current strategy is basically apply for inks, put all dining out on csr and cash out via pyb. I know this has to end sometime, but I just cashed out $530 of Disney dining for 35k points and it feels so worth it.

Any other strategies I’m missing? I also book the occasional hotel on the chase portal and our car rental this summer.
I think you have a good strategy bc you are traveling how you want to travel and cashing out to offset the cost. All too often I think people (myself included) will end up booking a trip because they can do it on points, but it isn't the trip they would have booked if all of the options were open to them.
I think there are just some trips that make sense mostly with cash and others that make sense mostly with points and some that are a hybrid. I'm on the fence between Peru and Iceland next year, but both of those are very cash heavy. AirBNB PYB would actually be very helpful for both scenarios.
Besides the strategies you are already using, I have had good luck booking excursions on the Chase portal. I know others have had poor communication sometimes with tour groups.
I too made a goal this year to make better use of our 2 companion passes and it has made for a very satisfying year. We'll have taken six trips this year using our companion passes, nearly all international.

At this point I'm defeated and feel like calling BA is pointless. Agents can't do anything. Calling isn't escalating anything. I did get 2 emails back today. Once from the Avios holding group. And one from Aer Lingus. Not sure if it was a response to the email I sent Aer Lingus back on 7/22 or from emailing the CEO (I read on FB she's getting stuff done if you email her, LOL). But both have stated they are looking into this and are trying to escalate the issue. So fingers crossed.

You should probably ask FT or /r/churning or /r/awardtravel
im sure someone there have experienced it before.

DH deserves a big hug today. He called Chase reconsideration from work today. I gave him the rundown and he handled it. Like most of our P2s he’s all in for supporting this hobby, but does not want to have to speak to the bank. My lesson learned, UNFREEZE the credit. His app went pending, hopefully it’s approved. I was pacing around waiting to hear the results of his call. He said it was no big deal. Thank you to @afan and @becauseimnew for your help.

Thoughts on United credit cards? Looking to do both a personal and business to earn miles for Hawaii. How soon should I wait in between the two applications? Which should I do first? I’ve never flown United before but they have non stop for the lowest amount of points I’ve seen (from NYC area).

Does anyone know about how long it takes to receive a new CIU after being approved? If I need it soon, I could SM to expedite, correct? Would that be 1-2 business days?

Thank you!
It said 3-5 business days when I was approved on 7/27 so I didn't ask to expedite. Still don't have it, 6 business days later. Should have expedited. Have some spend this weekend I would like to use it for, hope it comes tomorrow!

We used United cards for our first hawaii flights. It was 60k round trip for the flights, and at the time we got 80k offers for the cards. We wound up using the rest of the pts (20k each) to island hop for around 7500 each Inter-island flight. We were happy cuz it only cost taxes on the flights (less than 40$ total) but we flew economy and some people are not happy with that on a long flight. We had no issues and I’d do it again!

Happy day for me. I saw I had Chase offers for 10% off on OD/OM purchases up to $8 back on SIX of my Chase cards. Just picked up $480 in Disney GCs and am looking forward to getting $48 back. These would have come in handy BEFORE I added new Disney Shop dresses to my wardrobe :rolleyes1
Between DH and I we had it on 7 cards. I wen to dig them out recently and couldn’t find one of my Chase Freedoms, I hadn’t used the physical card since March so had to report it lost

I have it on so many cards, not even sure how many, 9 or 10, but OD is half an hour from me. :-(

The rule of thumb is to wait 3 months in between Chase apps. You won't be approved if you have 5 or more new accounts on your personal credit report within the last 24 months (5/24 rule). You need to be under for business cards too, but they won't add to your 5/24 count. So if you're 4/24, then you'll need to do the business card first. Otherwise, I think it doesn't matter.

DH applied and was approved 7/26, didn't expedite and received the card today, so hopefully yours will come tomorrow.

this is posted on TPG Facebook group, for places that require a chip & pin
If your credit card doesn’t have a PIN, I found that you can enter any 4 numbers when it asks for a PIN, and it will accept it. This was with a Chase/Visa card.

A could of people confirmed. Anyone on here can confirm?

*** Amex? I had been in pop up hell for 1.5 years. In March I was finally approved for the Hilton Honors card (free), so I thought I was finally out of jail. I decided when my Delta Gold Biz was up for renewal in May to cancel when they didn't really offer me anything good to keep it. I have 2 Hilton cards (free and surpass) and the Everyday Preferred. I spend on all of them at least $100/mo. Right now I'm doing a MSR for the AU card on my son (Surpass), so I'm spending even more. I don't sock drawer my cards. And I always hit the $15k FNC on the surpass.

I just tried for the Amex Delta Plat Biz card. I opened the gold delta biz in 4/2019. I closed it in 5/2022! So why am I being denied the SUB on the Delta Plat Biz????

Open Amex Cards ....

Hilton Honors - 3/2022 (spend at least $100/mo)
Hilton Surpass - 10/2017 (spend at least $15k/yr)
Amex Everyday - open 1/19 upgraded 3/21 (spend at least $100/mo)

Closed Cards
Delta Gold Biz- Open 4/2019, closed 5/2022
Hilton Biz - Open 10/19 closed 11/20
Hilton Aspire - Open 12/18, closed 1/20
Delta Gold - Open 11/17, closed I think 4/19 to get the Biz card they closed it.
Starwoods - closed when they merged to Bonvoy, had at least 5 years.

I know the 2 Hilton cards were just after the year mark, so I figured that's why I was put into Amex jail. But when I got approved for the Hilton Honors card in March I thought Amex was finally happy with me. I debated closing the Delta Gold Biz for free I'd be locked out of the Delta Plat Biz like this. I've been an Amex card holder since 95. So why can't I get a SUB? What can I do to get them to love me? I was going to jump on the elevated offer. I have been holding off on the MDD w/ Chase because of the Amex spend, but I guess I can seriously start to look at that. I was going to pay for the kid's braces w/ the Delta MSR.
I was in popup jail for Schwab Plat for a year, maybe longer. I paid all of my AmEx balances to zero, waited a few days (maybe a week?), then was auto approved.

There is one relatively close to where I live now, they have very few gift cards out on display, but I have had them check in the back a couple of times to bring out more options.
DH applied and was approved 7/26, didn't expedite and received the card today, so hopefully yours will come tomorrow.
I see it in my informed delivery email!
