You guys coached me through getting my $75 SW gift card before cancelling my SW Personal Priority card. The annual fee posted 2/1 and I'm definitely going to cancel it. DH and I fly on 2/25. If I would use the card for upgraded boardings does it take awhile to receive the credit, or is it instant? I need to cancel the card by 3/1, but I want to make sure the credit posts before cancelling.

I'm thinking about cancelling now just to be safe, but I keep going back and forth about what to do.
I’ve purchased upgraded boarding a couple of times, and yes, it credits quickly. Within 2-3 days.

Just tried to load my (no fee) serve card at Family dollar and it was adding .05 to the total. Anyone else having issues or was it just my store? They weren’t familiar with loading serve, so I’m hoping it was just them.
I would’ve just paid the 5 cents, but I was using a $200 gift card to load so I’m not sure how that would work.

I’ve seen the .05 show but it’s never added to the total just the $200 is charged

All those that are having trouble getting support links to post, you’ll need to SM them. They’ll ask for information from the person that used the support link. Hopefully you can get it to track, I’ve had them do it once.
I’ve had support points post up to 3 weeks after the card was approved…but December to February seems too long …

.last year My RR support points didn’t post so after 2 months I sent Chase a SM from the account I generated the link…giving them the date my DH applied and the last 4 digits of his account number.
They then added 20k RR points to my account….

Thanks for the advice. I will SM them later today with the dates of the application and P2's last 4 digits. Will let you all know how it goes.

Quick IHG question... Can I check in on a free anniversary night for DH's account? and another night on his points booking if he's not there?

Well, before I went to SM Chase, I double checked all my information (acct, dates, etc.) and what do you know? I did get the support URs of 20k. I used them all already. Lol. The SUB shows up on the activities log but not the supports - which only show up as OTHER in the top. I checked and it was listed on my 1/22/2021 statement. I had transferred the UR balance to my CSP right after.

Well, at least I know.

For those of you that have been Churning for several years, do you go through periods where you slow down?
I feel like I've got too much going on and I need to slow down, cut back on the number of cards we open.

I found this thread in April 2017, almost 5 years, we've opened about 50 cards between the 2 of us.

If the churning slows down the travel will also slow down. We haven't taken a break from traveling, but maybe we should.

Absolutely. I was posting here yesterday about getting a new card, but after talking to DH, we decided that another card right now would just complicate our already complicated life. We haven't traveled much due to covid so I have tons of points collected... he wants to use some up before we start collecting again.

That's a great/interesting question. I don't think I consider myself a 'churner', but a wannabe travel hacker I suppose. We're still working (and my DH has crap for vacation time) so at this point I'm mostly accumulating but we've used a fair amount of Bonvoy and SW points. We're retiring next year and will have a chance (and need lol) to use those points accumulated.

I'm about to wrap up a Venture X min spend and may open 1 more card to use for a replacement patio door (good god those things are expensive) and then perhaps fall back to just using my Chase FF and CSP for awhile.

I’ve only been at this about 2.5 years and last month I just decided I needed a break. I’ve had some additional life stress, and found I didn’t have the mental bandwidth for worrying about credit cards. I’m actually grateful you posted this, because when you’re so used to optimizing every dollar spent for bonuses, it’s difficult to just let it go. Or at least it was for me. Nice to know it isn’t just me.

I've always been a moderate churner. But if I have a big expense coming up (property taxes March, April and May), then I will look at opening another card. As a p1 with dd (me) being a very, very moderate p2 I can only churn so much. I can always think of ways to use the points though. With that being said I'm looking at opening a CIU -- the first 3 property tax payments will cover the MSR. I haven't travelled internationally since 2019 and I am really, really, really looking forward to venturing into the wide wonderful world again :)

For those of you that have traveled to Hawaii…any recommendations for a quick 1-2 day stay on Maui? My DD20 (will be 21 on the trip) are planning to go to Oahu. Since I’m going for the CP, I suggested we hop to another island. I think Maui would work best. I’m leaning towards flying into Maui, spend 1-2 days depending on flight times, then go to Oahu. Looking for suggestions for car rental (will we need one?), hotel location and best sights to see with our limited time.

Delta flyers, could you give me some advice? I'm looking at a domestic nonstop 6.5 hr flight and am trying to decide between Main cabin and Comfort+. Is Comfort+ worth it? Also, I'm thinking of transferring MRs to Delta so that I can book with Skymiles in case I have to cancel. That way I'd get back miles that never expire rather than travel funds that do expire. It would cost 6000 more miles for Comfort+ compared to Main cabin, so cash value of that is $66/ticket to me (I have Schwab Plat).

Is this your first time to Hawaii? For a quick Maui visit, I would suggest Iao Valley and Haleakala, with Haleakala being the most different from anything you'll see on Oahu. With a car, staying near the airport would be convenient. Without a car, you'd have to see where the tours pick up. Lahaina would probably be good, walkable and lots of restaurants.

For a short visit, my first thought would actually be Volcanoes National Park on the Big Island. Fly into Kona, rent a car, drive to the Volcano side, then fly out of Hilo to HNL.

I would say yes. For a flight that long the legroom is worth it.

We have too many vacations planned to slow down. I would be sad if we canceled any of our trips this year. We are only doing one big trip 🤞to Japan in 2023.

Yup. Absolutely. Can you believe I'm under 5/24? It took me some time to get there and all because I wanted a Hyatt card. Well I got the Hyatt card in 2020 and have still managed to not jump right back to LOL/24. I've been at this since 2012 and don't want to count how many cards have been opened between me and PlanePrincess. But I'm currently in a slow down mode in comparison to what I usually do.

I'm also not burning through as many points and miles as I usually do because we have not traveled as much or the same way we normally do. We usually take multiple international flights in first class each year. I haven't been on an international flight in over two years now. However, that's just because of the ongoing circumstances that began in 2020. I expect that will pick up as things normalize. Come to think of it, I do have 2 international flights planned for later this year. Oh yay, something normal LOL Personally, I definitely have no intention of taking a break from traveling. Modify yes. Stop, no way.

I feel like my upgraded boarding credits have posted within a day or two. Very fast.

I actually feel like the most amount of time it takes is to go from pending to posting (maybe 2 days). Once it changes from pending to posted, I feel like the credit is immediate.
I think it's worth it to wait, but I also understand how it might be inconvenient to call while you're on vacation to cancel. You could also SM to cancel if that's easier than making a call.
