After at least 1+ years of Amex pop ups, today Amex increased my CL on my Surpass (probably thanks to making the run on the $8k promo). So I just gave a whirl at getting the free Hilton card promo.....AND I GOT IT! With a $30k credit limit, LOL. :cheer2::cheer2::cheer2:

I know the free card has had a higher points promo before (100k), but the 70k + FNC is worth WAY more to me! Esp considering the last 2 weeks I've managed to stay in some 80k/nt rooms w/ them! I'm excited to restock my points, LOL. I got my surpass back in 2017. So if the "lifetime" rule is 7 years, I'm actually not too far away from maybe getting that again, LOL. And I can always hope for some upgrade offers.

Congrats! I've been getting the pop-up on the Surpass. Maybe I should give the no fee a try. I have Hilton spend coming up though, so I want the 12x instead of 7x.

7 years is from when you closed the card, I guess it takes them time to "forget" lol. Though I saw a couple DPs of people getting the Hilton biz again after only closing it a year or two. Gave it a whirl for me and DH (both closed almost 2 years), but no luck (boo).

Finally managed to get approved for a CIU at the 4th time of trying. :jumping1:

I have not had any problem getting chase cards except the CIU. The first time I applied was my fault as I completely forgot about 5/24 but have been denied twice since then. Between myself and P2 -working on over $20k of MSR now which will be tight, but sadly will probably achieve with room to spare if history is any indicator.

In other news, P2 received her Cap1VX $200 vacation rental credit - and we have no idea why. I'm guessing one of her hotel stays must have triggered it. Is there a way to see exactly which purchase prompted the offer?

Congrats on finally getting outta jail!!!

Thanks for posting about this and for the explanation. The Dolphin came up in one of my searches for the one-night "fine resorts" credit, but it looked a little strange so I chatted and they emphatically told me it was not eligible for the $200 credit, etc. Maybe the trick is the prepaid booking? But just to confirm ... you have received the credit on your statement?

I travel frequently between the USA and UK as our daughter has been over there for Uni and her masters the past 4 years We've used a number of different companies for testing. But since the US implemented the day before requirement, we've always used the Abbott eMED tests and never had a problem. I *always* travel with extras as i read too many stories on FlyerTalk (there is a thread devoted to the tests) about problems. We personally have never had problems, but it isn't too hard to pack and extra couple of tests. We have never had a problem getting someone to answer--5 minutes has been max. It does take a while to do more than one test, but we've learned to toggle on our laptops (the second person starts during the 15 minute wait). My daughter has used Quered a couple of times (she can't get the abbott tests in the UK), but I don't like that you have to make an appointment ahead of time and you are subject to their times. With eMed you can do it when you want. Just remember to download the apps while in the USA. I really wish the US would get rid of the test. I"m heading back in April, and I'm not looking forward to the hassle.
It’s in the hotel collection. Booked two nights. Prepaid. Definitely got the $200. Here now, after the first two nights, I was able to see the folio and showed the $100 credit as the first line. Now we’re on the second two nights. Also was given breakfast credits for Platinum elite.

Got instant approval for a CIU. They are finally giving out a little more credit limit. Last card was only $3,000 limit. This one was $6,000. Also hit a personal goal, over 1,000,000 UR's!
Congrats on the approval and hitting 1,000,000 URs party:
I have never gotten my balance that high….although I’ve used over 2,000,000URs with PYB on my CSR

Anyone have experience with United sending message that flight can be changed due to weather? DD20 and her roomies are set to leave for Hawaii on Saturday from EWR. I am wondering how flexible the change policy is...can I change airports? There's an early morning flight from MDT that changes planes in ORD. I am thinking that may be a better option than flying out earlier from EWR and connecting in SFO.
On hold..wait time was said to be 25-30 minutes...that was 50 minutes ago:(

Anyone know if the Hilton Orlando Buena Vista palace was taken off the Chase travel portal since the new portal changeover? I feel like I remember seeing it before but I can't seem to find it anymore...

@sinnika or anyone else who has Venture X, wondering if there's any way to use credits to pay the AF? A little FOMO and finished spend on current card, so looking for new but not wanting to pay $400.
I would think you could as long as you use up your credits right away. I used my Airbnb credit about three weeks after I got the card. It didn’t show up though on my first statement which included the AF because my statement closed on the 20th and I stayed at the Airbnb on the 21st. I haven’t use my $300 travel credit yet. I really like this card and I just hit my 500,000 miles mark. Planning to get the business card so I can hopefully get to 1,000,000 miles. ☺️

Need some advice from biz class fliers please! Which seats should I choose for Air France A350-900, 2 adults and 2 kids, ages 8 and 12. It's a red-eye, so we'll be sleeping most of the flight. But it's our first flight in biz class and the kids like to do things together, like play games and show each other. Kids will probs be awake for like 3 hours at the beginning of the flight. Right now we are along the side in J and L. But I'm wondering if the kids will feel more together in D3 and H3? E2 and G2 are blocked for bassinet, so I can try to shift there at check-in only.

Not sure if it's the same as the AF planes I've flown on, but it looks the same to me. The window/single seats are just that. Pretty private and not easy to talk to others. The center seats are much better, even the ones that you marked with the tables in between. DH and I have sat in those seats and were able to communicate just fine.

Where do you usually get your medical insurance? I've bought full travel insurance but it's not always necessary. However I always like to have med evac.

The last time I just went with the same trip insurance company I've been using all the time (starts with an A), bought through AAA since we are members there and I just preferred to have someone there to answer my questions, but it can also be done online. I wasn't really worried about losing what little we put into the hotel and the flights were all on points, so I just insured what I cared about which was really the medical expenses and evacuation. Luckily we didn't need to use it, but I know that we used it once when DD needed to see the doctor on the Dream and get some meds and they paid for that.

I’m a big believer in diversifying point currencies. I remember when Disney was pulled from Chase, I remember the AApocalypse… I now feel ancient and sad and don’t want to remember anymore 😂 Anywho I cannot imagine all my eggs in one basket after getting hit by both of those myself. Nobody fathomed AA shutting down accounts and cancelling tickets mid-trip until it happened. Nobody foresaw that Chase would specifically ban Disney from their travel booking.

I also think the Cap1 is an intriguing alternative premium card to have in the wings in case of Chase or Amex shutdowns (for those that value a premium travel card). Because see above, things happen 🤷🏻‍♀️

Full disclosure: Cap1 still hates me so I don’t get to join this party 😭
If you go for the Venture X, how much longer before you fall back under 5/24? If it's sometime next year then I guess I would skip it. But if you would be back at under 5/24 in just a few months, I would be inclined to go for it before the big signup goes away. I'm thinking of getting DH a Venture X before the 14th and that will put him at 5/24 until June, but that's not so far away at this point in my view. I'm kind of meh about putting actual spend on this card long term though since it only gets 2% on everything so whether or not I'll hold onto it is a bit of a question mark, and that's my hesitation about trying for one for DH.

Are you assigning 1.5cpp for Venture X based on transfer partners? Because if you're using it to erase travel purchases it's really only 1 cpp.
I always get a notification of the inquiry right away, so I think Cap1 would see it too. I would do Cap1 first. DH was denied for the Venture a few years ago and I suspected the inquiry he had the day before had something to do with it (but of course who knows).

Chase wouldn't know you're 5/24 after the Venture X until Cap1 reports it. I wonder if that would be after first statement close.

Thanks team. I did end up biting the bullet and applying for the Venture X today because we do have 3 international trips in the next 6 months and the 0 foreign transaction fees will be helpful, as well as the longer period to meet the $10k spend. Yay- I was approved! I solicited some DPs on reddit and looks like it takes at least until first statement closing or longer for it to report to credit bureaus, so I will app for a biz card before Chase is aware I am 5/24. Thanks for the great advice on that front @wanderlust7
I know this card is hit/miss on approvals. I was 4/24, credit in the 800s, 1 HP in the last 6 mos. I put I spend $5k/mo on cc and that I sometimes carry a balance. No open C1 cards, but previously had 1 cc. In my 20s I certainly paid C1 some finance charges before I knew what I was doing with credit cards, so they probably approved me to be their cash cow again!

I woke up -3, with -4 and -8 forecasted for Fri/Sat morn. Wanna trade?

loved the weather in Phoenix when we were there over Valentines, it was 80 every day :-)
Yeah my trip happened during the cold front here in Phoenix/Tucson. Last week it was in the 80s and next week it will be in the 80s. I’ve been here all week, returning on Sat. The highest high all week has been 71. I’ve had to wear my lightweight down jacket in the mornings and pants to hike. I was hoping for some 80s, especially at the end of the week. I sat at the pool today and read but didn’t get in the water.

I got an upgrade at the Towneplace Suites in Tucson. A two bedroom suite. A bit much since I am traveling solo. I also got an upgraded room at the Hyatt. Top floor, golf course view, huge balcony. Two free cocktails for being globalist. The club is closed so they have a breakfast buffet in one of the restaurants. Meh. It really wasn’t any better than the free breakfast at the Towneplace Suites. Today was a breakfast burrito, fresh fruit and Chibano yogurt. I was hoping They would let globalist order off the menu.
