I love credit cards so much! v4.0 - 2021 (see first page for add'l details)

Typically, you can only get 1 SW personal card because of the one per family restriction, but applying on consecutive days can sometimes avoid the restriction. Of course, you would effectively only have 1 year of the companion pass if it clicks in during 2021.

Wait - is this right? Is there a one per family restriction on SW personal cards? I'm really hoping it's not? DH just got the Priority in July, and I was planning on getting a Priority in January 2022 (my 2 years since my last SW card will be up, and I'll use it to try for a CP in 2022-2023). Any insight on this?

Also, while I'm at it - when does the SW 2 year rule start to run? From when I got the SUB for that card (if that's the case, I'll have to wait until February 2022 to apply, but I'll still have the same question about "one per family").

Yes, you can read more about it here: https://www.nerdwallet.com/article/credit-cards/chases-one-southwest-card-rule-explained. But, you and DH are different people, so his holding a SW personal card would not impact your ability to get one. Just close your priority at least 4 days before reapplying in January (I usually recommend 30 days, but I've read data points that say 4 is enough when applying online). For clarification, a "family" of cards is Sapphire, Southwest, United, etc. Not a family of people :)

The 2 year rule runs from the date the bonus posted, so if you got the bonus in January 2020, I would wait until February 1, 2022 to reapply to be extra cautious (similar to how Chase tracks 5/24 and you usually want to wait until the next calendar month just to be safe). Of course, if you know the exact date of the bonus posting, you could apply anytime after that date in 2022.

OH! So “family” referred to a “family of cards” (the SW family) - I read it as “family” = the people I live with. WHEW! 😂😂

This is why you will most often seen people here talk about the flavor of the card, it's much less confusion. Or just explain it rather than say family.

If you are open to getting a SW biz card that should also be considered for getting your cp. You'd need to apply for it first if doing them both at the same time but if doing 3 months apart would do the one with the higher offer in case you don't get the 2nd. Unless the personal would put you at 5/24 then you'd want to do the biz first.

I hate Xfinity.

That is all.

I just paid my bill with a credit card, so it’s a teeny, tiny bit relevant.
Grrrrr.🤬🤬🤬

I think most/all of their customers do. I hung up on the guy that was "helping" me last week. I trust my IT dept more and they said if it's still an issue to call them. He said it wasn't them that I needed to talk to my vpn. I couldn't get any clarity on why it's not them other than, your other devices work just fine. I hate being stuck with them.

Same. DH said the only bright side was that at least they're no longer pretending not to try to bleed guests dry. Disney is a business after all, yes, but it's getting hard to justify with so much watering down.

It really is - especially when folks can go on other crazy elaborate trips for the same money. Plus, this whole Genie+ thing makes me feel stupid. I know I am not unintelligent but there are so many rules and differing costs and log in times - how will the average Disney visitor manage working the new program? I don't get it I guess.

I'm almost through the minimum spend requirement on the CSP card that I signed up for, so I'm thinking of having DH sign up for his own CSP while it's still at 100,000 points SUB. Just to confirm, will he get the 100,000 SUB offer if I refer him? Also, will they give us any trouble about having two CSP cards at the same mailing address? Thanks!

Another thank you message to the regular contributors here. A few months back during the AA anniversary promotion your reported successes prompted to join their rewards program and I won around 10k points. I didn't have any plans to use them as we usually fly SW, currently have the companion pass, etc. But this week we got some tough news and I found out today I need to fly to TN this weekend. I was dreading how much the flights were going to cost. SW was going to be around $320 each way, other airlines were looking like $275+ each way, but I remembered those AA points and I played around with airports near me and airports near my destination and I was pleasantly surprised to find a few options for only 7500 points to get there (would have been around $200 for the cash booking). So thank you for saving me $200!

No trouble having two at the same address. You can even be authorized users on each other's cards without it being a problem; HOWEVER, if you are going to be churning regularly you might not want to be authorized users on each other's cards because that will take up an additional 5/24 spot.

I am thinking of getting DD16 a credit card as an authorized user in my account. It’s really just for emergencies and maybe buying clothes or something when I’m not with her.

I got an offer from Amex that seemed pretty good to get her an Amex gold, but not sure a 16year old needs an Amex. Other thought is Chase Disney Visa based purely on cute design.🤷‍♀️

Is the offer for 20k MRs? If so, I would jump on it! I got one for DS14. I would also add to older cards to help build her credit.

Absolutely a great offer! That is how my now 29 year old got her first card. I kept it in my wallet and gave it out as needed in the early years.

You can see the transactions on your own account, marked with her name initials so there is no doubt who spent what. She can also have a separate authorized user account set up online so that you get a separate set of Amex offers on the card. My daughter's card sometimes gets better and different offers than mine.

You may be able to also set a spend limit but I didn't as DD got her own cards independent of me at 18, and at that point the only time she used the AU card was when I asked her to buy something on it to trigger an offer.

It was in her name also somewhere around age 13.

Later on she got the Disney Visa under her own account so I could get some value. Again, it gets some Chase offers. I babysit both accounts.

And the $10 off $50 credited, using the Amex card to reload my Amazon gift card balance.

BUT, it's not reflected in my account balance yet, even though it's showing as an account credit. Hopefully it will adjust itself soon.
