Has anyone ever booked and cancelled through the Chase UR portal?

I want to book Discovery Cove tickets using points for the end of June. However, given with so much unknown in regards to Covid, I want to be sure that I can get everything back in the event I cancel. I know DC’s policy but can’t figure out Chase’s as I’m reading conflicting things.

if I cancel, will I get my points back? How long does it take to get them back? Does anyone have any insight?

Spent a LOT of money on the Orlando Informer Meetup this morning... was frustrated to not have have a MS to put it toward.

We decided to get tickets at the last minute and I was flipping through my cards trying to figure out what to put it on!

Excited for the Meetup though! We did one last December and I’ll never do Universal any other way again!
What is the Orlando Informer Meetup?

We are planning our 1st Universal trip (we are Disney people) so interested to hear!

What's the cancellation policy say on the Travel Portal? Usually right before you hit purchase it makes you check that you've read the cancellation policy above.

I have booked and cancelled refundable hotels on the portal with URs...usually the points are returned immediately....if I log out then log back into my account.
do the tickets say they are fully refundable?

guess the last one isn't a question, but a frustration. I think I'm running into a credit limit issue! On the most recent CIC, on which I am currently trying to meet MSR, I got only a 3K spending limit. I was able to move $2K over for a total of $5K. Unfortunately the current balance is about $4800 and my payment won't post until May 3... I have a $500 payment on a VRBO due May 1. Very, very poor planning

I don't understand. Do you have it set for auto pay? You can go on today and make a payment then you'll be able to use the card on the 1st. But I'd make the payment during business hours to help make sure that happens. Even with auto pay you can make payments whenever as far as I understand.

Orlando Informer holds after hours “meetups” at Universal a few times a year.

There’s one coming up in June (sold out), and then three weekends in November and December: 11/18-19, 12/3-4, and 12/9-10 (the last one is sold out).

Basically, you get to enter the parks at some point mid-day before they close to the public, and you then get to stay for roughly 5.5 hours after the parks close. There’s very limited capacity, so all rides are nearly walk-on and the parks feel very empty. The big draw is that (nearly) all of the Quick Service locations + food stands are open, and you can have as much food + (non-alcoholic) drink you want, all included in the price.

You want to try every flavor of ice cream at Fortescue’s? Go for it! Have as much frozen, cold, and hot Butterbeer as you want!

Tickets are roughly $200 for one night or $300 for both nights of the weekend.

OI also has exclusive rates on Universal Hotels, so you can stay at a Premier hotel for as low as $165/night.

Just Google “Orlando Informer Meetup” to find their website - I think it will block it if I post it here.

Happy to answer any questions you have!

I did google it also. So no additional park tickets required? And the park is closed to other guests? And hotel discounts? Doesn't sound like a bad gig! (Although the hotels we want are sold out already).

Are all the rides open? Do you have to be with a group, or is it like the Disney ticketed events (Halloween party, etc)?

This is a niche question, but any idea if allergy friendly food (specifically Gluten Free) is also available?

Definitely intrigued!

Odd assortment of questions:

I got a mailer for an American Express savings account, at .4% interest (I think... I don't have it in front of me). I currently just have savings in a regular old savings in my regular old credit union. Anyone know if it would be a hassle to move that over?

Very, very poor planning/timing on my part so now I am just irritated with myself.

I had an AmEx high yield savings. I closed it when they dropped the interest rate to 0.4%. I had it linked to my checking account and found AmEx very easy to deal with as far as moving money around. (Unlike Citi which I hated)

I'm with afan. You can pay off the CIC now to clear the balance.

No additional park tickets required. You can get in at 5, park closes either at 7 or 8 depending on which day. No you are not with a group. The hotel discounts can be hard to get, I posted that when I got tickets I had to refresh a while to get the rate I wanted but I did eventually get RPR for $165 for 3 nights. There are discounts for all the resorts. but you may have to keep checking back for cancellations at this point. The website says it will have vegan and gluten free options, maybe ask on the Universal board here if anyone knows what they are. Or contact Orlando Informer directly, they respond to information requests.

I decided to apply for the Charles Schwab platinum. I needed to make sure I was approved or would need a new plan on how I’m going to work to pay for Hawaii.
Approved! Who-hoo!
I now have $14,000 MSR in the next 3 months! Should be interesting to get to that.

I apologize in advance for all the questions I will have next month. I am not used to spending this much money on vacation. I am very familiar with Disney and Southwest but Hawaii, MRs and spending $$$$$$ is all new me.

Well I had 20 AA spins saved up. So I just did 10. I got 40 miles. I'll save the others and do them a little later this week, LOL.

I think we are in the same place right now LOL. I hate my AA miles though, so that's not even an option.

AA is good for getting in the tiny NC airports. And I love that they are often reduced mileage fares too! I think I have $350 left to hit my spend on my Everyday upgrade. I think it's time to look at an AA citi personal card. I just don't know if the offers are ever better/higher.

not autopay, but I had already scheduled it for bill pay through my credit union.

I moved up my original bill pay date when I realized what was going to happen, but now it's supposed to be mailed today... ugh

I opened an AMEX savings account last year and it was super quick and easy. I’ve had no problems with them. The website is a outdated and clunky, but still pretty easy to navigate. I also was able to link my savings account and Platinum card accounts so I can easily access my savings account from the AMEX app and website when logged into my Platinum account. I’d say go for it!

You'd have to go onto chase and have them pull it. I pay everything through who I'm paying, so chase, amex, att etc. My mortgage was the only thing I used my banks bill pay for. Amex and chase will post it so much faster.

Just set it up on chase and pay the 500 you need to pay airbnb and then when the bank payment posts it'll be good.

I believe Ally pays the same, and they are super easy to use, their website is very easy to navigate. I have at least 10 accounts there. Actually it looks like it pays .50.

Thanks!
