Booked the Hilton Tokyo Bay for December with 5th night free. Getting about 0.7 cpp, which is okay for Hilton points. Will watch to see if it drops.

Will be able to book flights in a couple of weeks with AA miles that I already have. Peasant class since it's 4 of us. Have MRs that I could transfer, but thinking I don't want it getting stuck if trip doesn't happen. Not sure how things will look by then. But it's fun to plan again.

Hypothetically yes you can (meaning I've been doing just that). Though no joy. No offers on his accounts (biz green and marriott biz).
I do the same all the time with my DHs cards...he knows all about the applications etc but wants no part of taking care of anything...I’ve always paid all the bills etc....as long as there aren’t any debit collectors or his car isn’t repossessed...he’s happy...and of course the free vacations

Yay for big international trip. And yay peasants. That’s the only way our family travels #kidsareexpensive

Can someone help me. We are going to Disney with another family (they’ve never been so don’t have an MDE), I will be planning everything. I booked their resort reservation (haven’t linked it). Should I just link their reservation to my MDE? Create one for them? I also have their tickets.

We have this place on DISchurners where you can even save those links and display them publicly... HAHA!
I’m glad I was patient (not my strongest quality). I had serious FOMO yesterday when everyone was getting those Ink emails, none for us, no matter how many times I checked 🤣. I pouted a bit, but yay, today links are generating again. Thank you everyone for mentioning it. Just used DH’s link to apply for CIC. Pending 🤞🏻

Lesson learned I saved our links. I’ll try to figure out how to post them on Reddit for safe keeping 😉

Thanks fo all of your help so far. I'm looking at either a new Hilton Honors or a Marriott card as well. I'm eyeing the Marriott Bonvoy Brilliant (100,000/signup, free night and Plat. Elite status). We have two trips planned this year with stays at a Marriott. With the Plat. Elite you get free breakfast and a room upgrade. This won't matter for the first trip, but the second is 5 nights at the Swan. Has anyone experienced the Swan with Plat Elite status? By my calculations, the breakfast credit between our two trips would be 310. That leaves a $140/diff. between card cost and immediate benefits. Some of the lower cards (100/yr) come with about the same number of points, but you don't get Plat Elite status. It says you can get a $300 credit for some purchases on property. However, I can't seem to find what is included in that. What do you think?
We used that Card on our last stay at Swan. The credit is good, as someone said, on anything charged to your room. So we had dinner atThe Fountain, and some snacks at Picabu and Fuel. IIRC the Java bar in Swan wouldn't charge to our room. There is no breakfast at Swolphin. We got a slight upgrade to a room with this view F9BBB882-D92D-4A57-8C2E-7A8AA18264AB.jpeg
My mom says her experience trying to get a "ticket" to get vaccinated is reminding her of me trying to get ds an xbox.
I was so glad to get the vaccine, but really angry with the lack of planning on vax. I mean no one should have expected the fed to step upon this but our state and local governments and hospitals should have been more organized. The hospital system I work for hasn't done a terrible job (I got my first shot 12/19, second one this Friday) but they planned only for the biggest hospital of the 3 they own in IL. I had already gone to the bigger location by the time they figured out where in my hospital they were actually going to set up a vaccine clinic. We are still on group 1a, healthcare workers, and no known plans for 1b which includes elderly. Our governor stated he will make it for age 65+ instead of 75+ but no idea how people will register or be notified, etc.
Good luck to your mom.

That's my DH. I actually made him apply for a new card on New Years. He was sitting there doing nothing while I was organizing things, checking card offers, and setting things up for the coming year. Of course he had to keep interrupting me with questions. "What's our income?" "What's my cellphone number?" Years ago, when I went back to school full time, as well as working, I asked him to pay the bills so I had less on my plate. 2 months in a row, we had late notices. He's never touched a bill or bank account again.

They can have their own MDE and you can be friends with them and manage things. I did with my sister and fam but it was awhile ago. Hopefully someone who has done so recently can chime in.

I'd get them their own MDE. I put some friends on mine that did not have an MDE and still don't and I appear to be stuck with them on it. The problem seems to be the tickets that they used. I've had other people added and tickets were not added and they were easily deleted.

The theme parks forum has more info on this, but other than not being able to delete, I haven't retained the chatter about this issue from reading there.

I got one link and posted it on a whim. Now I have more but haven't bothered to get in there yet.

I did this about 5 years ago...we brought friends who definitely would not go on their own so I added everyone to MDE and booked everything...if your friends would go without you...I’d probably have them set up their own and link to yours

They should have their own and link it. Along with thr previous reasons, if you all decide to split up it'll just make thins easier if they want to do an adr on their own. Plus with qs being mobile order I'd want them managing and paying for their own.

My upgrades at Swan were usually for a view of the canal and a balcony. In fact I got the same 6th floor corner, balcony room at least 3 times.

Our state is in 1a as well and our governor is not happy that people are not getting the vaccine quick enough. He's announced that he's moving more groups into 1a, and those will include the 75 and up plus I believe it is educators. (I may be wrong on the last one). I was listening for my age group. He also said that if some counties didn't do more vaccines quickly he would reallocate the vaccine supplies.

I will feel so much better about taking a little trip once I'm vaccinated.

Mobile order, didn't even think about that! Thank you.

They say they will be a one and done kind of a family, that's what I said back in 2014 :rotfl2:

Don't want to be stuck with all their info later.

I didn't realize I could manage their stuff just with being friends.

Thanks everyone for the advice! I'll have them set up their own MDE.
