Anyone have some good Saks suggestions for tge $50 platinum credit?

I still have two to spend before the end of the month. I'm thinking about getting a KitchenAid toaster for one of them. It's $70 (I'd pay $20) and gets good reviews. We need a new one anyway and it looks nice. Haven't figured out the other one yet though. They did have a nice knife block for $100 I was looking (would cost me $50), but it's out of stock right now, so back to square one.

Is there any downside to setting up autopay with Chase? I have all of my credit card closing dates calendared and pay in full as soon as my statement is issued. As my number of credit cards grows, I’m worried one will slip through the cracks. I’d like to set up autopay through the Chase app to just pay off the statement balance each month, but wanted to make sure there’s not some unforeseen downside to doing so. (I also now have one AMEX that I’d like to have on autopay.)
All of my CCs are on autopay. I don’t see a downside.

For us, the SW CP is important to us. I make sure that one of us will be under 5/24 as the cycle turns every two years. DH holds the CP right now, so any new cards will go for him in the next year.

That is a great point- I’m glad you mentioned it. We have CP through 2021 and my husband is due to earn it next. BUT, I have accrued nearly half the points towards CP this year (not sure how), so I may continue to try to get it organically, meaning we’d have it for 2022. We usually have it for nearly two full years, but if I can get it organically and not take up a slot, that’s even better.
So then I’d keep DH under 5/24 and he’d earn CP for 23-24.

That would give me 12-18 months to be untethered, and then I could resume the slower churning prior to my turn for CP.

Thanks for that nugget.

@SouthFayetteFan and other experts:

If you are a serious churner (not a casual dabbler), what is your perspective on trying to stay below 5/24 vs blowing past it? I'm in two player mode and dabbling with keeping one of us under 5/24 and the other free reign. We have a large family and travel a lot, so it seems our points appetite might be more than the average couple or family.
My thought is that if you're smart enough to ask this question, you're smart enough to figure out your strategy! (And I mean that as a compliment). You can both stay under 5/24, both go over, or do 1 over/1under. All three strategies have merit.

Personally, I keep me and my wife both under 5/24, but that's just how I'm playing the game these days.

I’ve set up auto pay on all of my and DHs Chase cards….the other thing I’ve done to keep things simple is change all of my statement closings to the same date…for me the 19th of each month…this way it’s easy to check on payments and also I can move all URs to my CSR on the same day

I have all of our credit cards set up on auto pay. The only downside I could think of is if there is a fear that you would overdraw your account if the funds came out automatically.

Thank you so much! I have been worried about this because we may have to charge the car rental on a card with DH's name as I put him as the primary driver. I read some Chase language that says you have to reserve the car and pay for the car with the Chase Sapphire card in order to get the primary insurance. So does that mean they would refuse to pay a claim if you reserved the car with a different Chase card (mine) but paid for the car with my DH's card? Insurance on rental cars is a very worrisome topic for me because I don't understand it very well. And the recent talk of umbrella policies (which we don't have) is adding to my stress.
in the past, the credit card used had to be the same name as primary driver, they wouldn't allow anything else at the rental place.

Just noticed an HBO Max Amex offer for an annual subscription ($25 off). Ends up being about $10/month for the ad free version. The version with ads is a really good deal with this offer (about $6/month).
can you tell me where this offer is? I pay full price monthly.

I added this to my plat when I was looking for the amazon offer doc posted about, didn't have it.

Am curious with the HBO max offer if it would stack with the streaming credits we'll supposedly be getting on the card. I used the credit last dec to help pay a year of d+ but there wasn't an offer for it. Either way I'll wait until it's about to expire to use it as I'm waiting for the sex and the city reboot to hit before I sign up.

Trip idea:

Just saw great fares to the Maldives, as low as $700 in economy, through May 2022. Saw Qatar Airways Q Suites for as low as $2900 RT from Chicago, but if you used Amex's international airline program, these would come in at around $2700 RT. If you have an Amex Bix Plat card and utilize the 35% points rebate, that puts these at about 180k MR points, after rebate.

The newly opening Le Meridien Maldives resort has incredibly wide availability through early June of 2022 for between 30-40k per night, just unheard of.

Question on the Dash Pass that we get with our CSP. Do you you have to pay for the order with the CSP?

If I could shop in-store all the time I'd just save up gift cards.

As it is I end up just going through the sale women's clothing. This time I bought this sweater but I was also looking at this one.

I really like the pink one. That's definitely an idea. DH says just order some Nest diffusers. It's $50 almost exactly and we'd never buy it without the credit and he likes the scents.

Anyone have any recent DP on loading Serve at Walmart. I'm gonna head over to FT and see if any updates are there. I just tried to load my serve using the VGC my son had stolen. It has $197 on it. I tried to load $98 to my serve and I was denied. At first I thought it was because I was using my go to pin, and then remembered that I didn't set up a pin for that one. But then I tried the last 4 too and I didn't work.

Before I go crazy in NC buying VCG, I wanna make sure I'm not gonna be stuck w/ them.
Anyone notice the quality of airlines have gone down? Even before Covid. I'm still sitting on
credit from Hawaiian Airlines from an awful experience with them. Took JetBlue to Alaska precruise
for Mother n law's birthday and flight delayed 4 to 5 hours. Didn't get to hotel till 3 am.
Just got back couple weeks ago from Hawaii. Southwest lost the luggage and we didnt get
it back for 3 days ..after it was sent to wrong airport.

Virgin America used to be my favorite airlines. Flew for YEARS with them with never a problem.
Practically cried like a baby when Alaska bought them. Alaska is ok but routes are limited. Booked
my upcoming Disney trip on Jetblue(since i have the card). Wondering if i should change. Anyone
have recommendation with airline they love?

** On a side note I guess i should be happy I haven't been on an "air rage" flight.
My best friend was on that recent Delta flight with that unruly passenger/flight attendant.
She said it was terrifying and thought they were all going down. Phew...flying like everything
else is not like it use to be. lol:rolleyes:

I will say, dating a pilot has calmed lots of fears (though I still prefer flying with him if possible, LOL). I know a few of these "crazy" passengers have wanted to open the cabin door....that's simply not possible. Air pressure makes it impossible. For the ones trying to get onto the flight deck, he has told me it's also impossible to get through the door. The only way it's happening is if they open it from the inside. And finally, knowing that there are a lot of FFDO (pilots w/ guns, aka pilot police) has also made me less nervous.
