This is the 5th edition of our general Manufactured Spend thread...

In simple terms, manufactured spending is the process of turning credit card spend into cash, which you can then use to pay off the credit card.

The goal is two-fold:

• Meet the minimum spending requirements to get the signup bonus when you open a credit card without actually buying a lot of stuff (thus allowing you to open many cards at the same time and not struggle to complete the minimum spend on all of them),
• Generate miles or points without actually spending a lot of money.

Often we will discuss these strategies HERE as they are "advanced" in nature and require a certain degree of discretion.

This thread is for people who are taking part in advanced strategies and loopholes and looking for a safer place to share their info and ask for advice. If you have been previously been hitting CIPpy cup, playing "games" with AMEX or just generally feel it's best to keep your "hard hitting" churning efforts off the DIS thread, please ask for help here. You might then choose to put a link on the DISboards thread asking for people to come help you here.

Now everyone has me looking at the Nespresso machines...I have a Keurig that probably 5 years old...but the rave reviews of the Nespresso has me looking..lots of options ...which machine does everyone have

We went for the Breville Creatista Plus, partly because it's pretty up on my counter, partly because we wanted the espresso machine and not the ones that make coffee, and mostly because I like the way the steam wand works (less mess, less cleaning, and it does a better job than the one that comes with the smaller models). My DM went for a small personal one and loves it, too. Like I said upthread, there are big sales from Nespresso directly, so I would never pay full price for it.

I was targeted for the Chase pay utilities/insurance/etc. offer to earn 1500 points. The weird thing is, the email said four payments, but when I activated the offer, it said only two payments. I’ll do four to be safe, but just something to be aware of. I’d hate for someone to lose out because they don’t do the required number of payments. (Although in my gut, I’m thinking it’s tthe activation Chase will go by, and therefore only two payments necessary for me.)

I noticed the same thing on the email I got. Says 4 charges one place, 2 in the others. Hopefully it’s only 2.

We use a stovetop coffee maker to make cuban coffee which is the strongest, sweetest, rich, most delicious thimble size cup of social togetherness espresso ever. During quarantine, we taught my 17 year old to make coffee at 3 every day so my husband and I could feel as if wewere still at the office so we all drink it together. 3 o’clock Cuban coffee time in Miami offices is pretty sacred.

7/9/2020 - DISchurners Announcement #1 - Chase, Amex & Misc Support Link THREAD REFRESH

It's time for everybody's favorite event...the semi-annual refresh of the SUPPORT Link Threads.
As a reminder - ANYBODY is welcome to share their support links in these threads. The instructions are at the top of each one.

For those that have previously posted, the easiest way to move them over is:
1) Go to your OLD comment in the OLD thread (you'll see the old threads listed near the bottom of the DISchurners feed)
2) Click EDIT
3) COPY the entire comment text in the edit box
4) PASTE the comment text as a NEW comment in the NEW thread (you'll find the new threads near the top of the feed)
5) CHECK all links to make sure they are active and working and make sure that your description of the offer matches the actual offer!
You do NOT need to delete your old comment when done, you can just leave it in that thread.

This process will help you not have to re-do all your formatting.
Side Note: It is best to access DISchurners in old reddit. (https://old.reddit.com/r/DISchurners/)

Side Note 2: I would also advise that you check to make sure that all of your links are accurate and working!!

I will post reminders for this over the next week or so and will then remove the old threads with only the new threads remaining.

One more general reminder, reddit flags many support links as spam. I then go in and manually approve them. I will keep an eye on that as we conduct the refresh and approve them all as quickly as possible!

I will be putting out a few announcements this evening as I work through a thread refresh. A reddit thread locks after 6 months and if we want to continue the discussion, a new one is created. You taught your teen a valuable skill! The first place I ever had espresso was in the office of a visiting Italian researcher at my first job. He seemed to think it was an important component of every meeting.

I'm working on a refi myself. I got to keep the VA loan on the house w/ the divorce. But our agreement states I will refi out if he wants it. My ex doesn't want it right now, but he did say look into it with rates so low. My VA is 3.25%. I was just quoted 2.99% on a conventional! I'm clueless to all this, as he always handled it. But I guess it's time for another "big girl" life experience. The only thing that SUCKS is I'm right on the border of 80%. With VA there is no PMI. So I'm really hoping I appraise high enough to not have the PMI. My neighbor sold for $350k...a few houses down sold for $460k (which is INSANE). Others in my sub have sold for $360-365k. BUT the IDENTICAL floor plan to mine sold for $320k last month! I have NOOOO idea why it sold so low! I have a much better lot. So I'm HOPING I can appraise higher. I need $355k for no PMI!

And with that note, it's time to call the other companies that contacted me, LOL

We are going through our first refi and I'm handling it all... NavyFed makes us sign the digital stuff from our own Navy Fed accounts and I just login to DH's to sign for him.

You take the cash total and divide it by .015 or .0125

Does anyone else have a problem with the IHG page interface? it's a no-go on chrome for me (maybe it's my protection setup) I got it to login once on firefox,then after that just a spinning wait ball.... it's so annoying.... it's been like this for a while,I just haven't even bothered with it.

I have been having a problem with the IHG app lately, but not the website when logging in via Firefox. I have made several reservations over the past 2 weeks, and had to do them on Firefox instead of the app because I also got a spinning ball on the app.

I got mine refunded and amex hasn’t clawed back the refund yet.
