Since we are mainly OT these days.

I watched Avatar for the first time last night. I know I am way late to the game on that one. But those blue people kind of creeped me out. It was good but not something I would rush to see again. I would watch any sequels however.

(Already Known) Chase Removes Ability to generate Support Links to Biz Cards (and Freedom).
As seen here, the landing page for the Chase Support Program no longer shows the CIP program (which we know was previously removed) nor does it show the CIC/CIU program (which was only for a new CIU). Also they have removed links for Chase Freedom - It's now only CFU.

Please review your support links on DISchurners to ensure (a) your links still work and (b) all descriptions of the offer are accurate:
  • Existing links for CIP/CIU are likely still working and can remain for now. (For those considering new applications, be aware that there appears to be scrutiny around sole prop apps and you may end up denied unfortunately)
  • All CF links appear to be dead so please remove.
  • At this point, it seems that the SW Biz cards (via the 5 card landing page) are the only biz cards allowing the generation of new links.
Doctor of Credit wrote about this here if you want an additional source of information.

Just reviewed all my links, appears all are still good. At least for now.

Random CC question - I was thinking about closing my CSP, but I made a purchase for an event in December on it, and am wondering if that event should be cancelled, what happens to a refund trying to go to a closed card? Can I PC it to a CF if I already have a CF? Prefer not to PC to a CFU as I may apply outright for that one day.

Oh and the one person who had it happened, the card was closed so that won't get you away from it either.

Just curious, how do they clawback a credit for a closed card? Do they send you a bill? We used DH's AmEx gold credit for AA GC a few years back (still have the dang things, was hoping to use them on baggage fees but they said no can do).

You can PC to a CF. At one point in time my wife and I both had 2 CFs... 4 Freedoms, it was so much freedom I didn't know what to do with it... HAHA!

If the event is cancelled the credit will post to the (closed) card. You can then request that Chase send you a check. Super easy.

:badpc: <- Me this morning spending an hour+ on chat with Chase Travel

They can't add my kids to my reservation because they have an occupancy limit of 2 (1 bedroom villa actually sleeps 5 per Disney). She says she's going to reach out to the hotel, I told her the Wholesale line wasn't taking calls, I had already tried it. I wait and wait and wait. She comes back with they aren't accepting phone calls so now she's going to assign this to the offline team to handle via email and I should have "the hotel's decision" in 48-72 hours.

Worst case scenario we make Fastpass selection at 30 days instead of 60, I guess, and my kids' bands won't open the resort room?

Because I've gone through all of this I have a feeling it's going to be canceled, but I'm crossing everything that it isn't and I think I'm ready to go with a lot of hand sanitizer lol

Ok, both of these remind me of a “millennial money” episode I watched where a girl in New York City was making serious bank selling her used underwear. There is, in fact, apparently a market for everything.

*Also, not a millennial (not that there is anything wrong with them) but I totally recommend that YouTube series as it is fascinating to see how people make, budget, and spend money. There are also some very good financial you tubers who react to the episodes. I generally watch Graham Stephan’s reactions to the episodes. It’s great content, especially when you have someone who has the side hustle of selling their underwear, and other sordid weird deeds.

Oooooh I definitely love seeing that kind of stuff (how people budget, not how they sell underwear). I'm also an avid reader of Refinery 29's Money Diaries lol.

Do we think (speculation only, of course) that the removal of links is covid-related, or do we think that this is the beginning of a crack-down on peer-to-peer support links in general? All of these changes are breaking my churning calendar into bits and pieces. :scared1:

I think it's the former. Banks were generally very profitable until the pandemic and are now looking ahead to potential losses and a ton of uncertainty and are trying to hold down costs and minimize risks.

DH has been doing the same with Chase via chat. He needs them to contact Philippine air to get his UR points back, several of his friends who were on the same May trip were able to get refunds, the first leg of the round trip has been cancelled by the airline. Got right on chat this AM, but of course Philippines in way different time zone so he has to try again later in the day. I told him to keep pushing them for the points, they seem reluctant. He was not able to get his pts back from the United flight home from SF at the end of his trip and still doesn't know if the voucher will expire this Sept yet. I had been happy booking with URs until this virus happened!

And he is back on with them and Chase is STILL trying to get him to accept a credit he will most likely never be able to use instead of 49,000+ URs! The rep said something to the effect that if he would accept a credit they would be finished now but she is trying to get him a refund. It's a good thing he is on instead of me. I'm sure she is doing her best but if he had booked directly with the airline he would already have his refund scheduled. It should really not be this hard!

And now they are saying they need a waiver code from the airline and can't get through to them so they are asking him to wait 72 hours for resolution. May be time to cash out our remaining URs and throw in the towel with Chase.

@amalone1013 - I'm super bored today (which is just GLORIOUS after what I've been through in the past 5-6 weeks).

So I made you a Christmas tree! In honor of all your work issues :D

I agree. A lot of small biz and sole prop are going to have cash flow issues. I'm hoping in a few months when I want to add another biz, prob not CIP but one of their other flavors, it'll be a bit better for sole prop. Also not putting spend on eithrt of my chase biz cards and will prob cancel the first when the af hits becauae I'd rather the bonus on another than pc. I think it all lines up for July so we'll see. But my rental makes less than 10k a year before all the costs but my income went up when I got hired perm so hopefully that'll help. I also know chase isn't spend concerned, meaning it's ok to sock drawer a card so I wonder if that will help or hurt. :confused3

Just ordered flowers for my mom for Mother's Day. 1800Flowers is at 20% with TopCashback and there's an Amex Offer for $15 back for purchases over $50. There was a discount going through the TCB website too.

It was annoying that the service charge didn't show until the finalize screen, after entering my credit card. And the free shipping coupon didn't work, but the cashback will cover it.

Looking for a new card for both me and DH. Points we'd like to continue to accumulate include Hilton (1 more SUB worth, then done), URs, Delta, AA, MR. I just got a new CIP last month and DH is waiting about 3 months more for another Chase card, so we're looking outside of Chase for now. As far as Amex MR cards go I haven't looked too closely at them because I'm not sure how I would put MR to use yet. I need to research that. I just do like that there is some versatility to them. DH is at 2/24 and I'm at 3/24. Would love and appreciate some advice on which of these cards have SUB that look good right now, or if it's recommended we hold off for a higher SUB.

DH- currently has COV, CIP, SW personal, Amex Hilton Biz, Amex Delta Gold Biz
Considering:
Hilton Surpass for 135,000 with $95 AF. The no AF card SUB is 85,000 so I think the AF is worth the +50,000 pts
Barclay Aviator Red for AA is 60,000 after 1st purchase with $95 AF
Citi AA Platinum is 70,000 with $99 AF waived first year MSR $4000.
Amex MR cards?
The Delta cards seem to have low SUB right now.

Me- currently have COV, CSP, CIP, Amex Hilton no AF personal, Amex BBP, Barclay Aviator Biz
Considering:
Hilton Biz 125,000
Citi AA Plat listed above
Amex MR cards?
Would go for Delta but all SUB seem low.

Thanks in advance!

Since your DH is at 2/24 - I would have him get the CSP and the Barclay Aviator at the same time. That way he'll be at 4/24 but in 24 months he'll have 2 cards drop the same month. I know you didn't list the CSP as an option but you did say you needed more URs and since Chase Biz cards are hard to come by these days that's a good option.

For you I would probably go for the Hilton Biz.

@Minnie368

I agree with @becauseimnew on a Hilton Biz for you.

I also agree on a CSP via cross-support in the future but that also means you might consider a MDD (not saying this is the right move, I’d just consider it). I wouldn’t use those precious 5/24 slots on non Chase cards just yet. You can get Hilton Surpass or whatever else when you’re > 5/24. Any other biz card would be a good play right now while you wait out the pacing recommendation. Keep in mind - that Chase can see any personal cards so getting other personal cards during those 3 months is almost as risky as just getting the Chase card.

EDIT: if you list your cards out the correct way (ie as recommended in the sticky) we could give better advice too. I have no idea what all cards you have and when exactly you got them. Good Advice requires detailed information and more than just “I have these cards”. Thanks!
