I'll take any biz card that'll have me at this point... 🤣 🤣 🤣
Truth!

Denied for CIP, denied for BOA Advantage Biz (expected that one though). Hmm, what's next? I was leaning toward a Marriott card, as much as I don't care for Marriott when we go visit my parents the Springhill Suites is the best place to stay. But, I'm not quite at 24mos from getting my SPG/Marriott Amex Biz which I believe blocks me. I'm open to a personal, I think I'm going to take a look at the Amazon cards, they get enough of my money.

Totally off-topic but I'm sure you'll all get a kick out of this here...

I'm not big on shopping...so when I buy something, I usually buy a lot of it so I don't have to shop frequently. It probably also won't surprise you that I price shop everything and take forever to make a decision....I can spend 30 minutes making a decision over $0.50!

Well today was Deodorant day... My supply is running low so I headed to Walmart which is right next to my Giant Eagle (grocery store) to make this all-important purchase! I first ducked into Giant Eagle just to comparison shop (and this is after I also looked up some prices online before I headed to the store). I'll spare you the nickels and pennies of my analysis but Walmart was the winner. I'll also spare you how I went back and forth a dozen times on brands as well (basically debating if switching from the one I currently use was worth it over $0.68...somehow I convinced myself to stick with the tried and true product)....

So anyway...as any normal male would do, I had no cart, no basket...and who cares. I proceeded to grab four 2packs of the deodorant I had settled on and 4 individual antiperspirants that are for use on especially sweaty days. (Yes I know this is way more detail than you wanted). And so I proceeded to carry 12 deodorant cartridges (is that the word??) cradled in my arms, up to the register and plop them down on the belt. I'm thinking nothing of this activity at all as this could be a 12+ month supply for me which is exactly how I like to shop.

Well, the look a young 20-something Walmart register operator gives you when you purchase 12 things of deodorant...let's just say it's a little strange. She's thinking "how sweaty is this dude"...or "does he eat this stuff or something". So uhh I think I became my own "person of walmart" meme today...

But hey, it's $25 towards my MSR and I'm set on the deodorant front for a year probably!
Guys... update on the great deodorant post of June 2019... 🤣 🤣 🤣 🤣 🤣
(yes I figured out how to quote a post from a closed thread)

Didn't last a year... Just opened my last one so I probably would come up a couple of weeks short. This year...we're going to go for the pandemic safe factor and try to make this an online purchase!!

And yes @Lain - this is still TMI... 🤦‍♂️

Ok... I just have to share one more comment...

When you're searching prices online for deodorant, how can they offer a "used" option... 😳 😳 😳 😳

I was looking for a pair of cycling shorts, spandex Tour de France style on Amazon, and they had an offer for USED 😵 ummm...people typically aren’t wearing underwear with cycling shorts. No...just...no! 😂
ETA: or am I the weirdo not wearing underwear with my cycling shorts 🤭🤣 How’s that for TMI 😂

Ok, both of these remind me of a “millennial money” episode I watched where a girl in New York City was making serious bank selling her used underwear. There is, in fact, apparently a market for everything.

*Also, not a millennial (not that there is anything wrong with them) but I totally recommend that YouTube series as it is fascinating to see how people make, budget, and spend money. There are also some very good financial you tubers who react to the episodes. I generally watch Graham Stephan’s reactions to the episodes. It’s great content, especially when you have someone who has the side hustle of selling their underwear, and other sordid weird deeds.

Each subsequent post on this thread is now getting weirder... who’s next??? 🤣

Considering the stories my old roommate told us about doing triathlons and going to the bathroom during the cycling portion I'm going to guess you're not alone. So gross. The bathroom part, the other you do you.

Note to self... new “business” idea if Chase starts approving cards again... 😳 🤣

...on second thought... maybe I stick to what I’m good at 🤣

I have a question regarding the Amex Plat $20 wireless credit and Verizon auto debit discount. I tried searching for the answer but I couldn't find it. Does anyone know if I used the Plat to buy a Verizon GC if that would trigger the credit? Would doing a partial payment also work or will that take away the auto debit discount. Thanks in advance.

About a month ago I applied for the Amex co-branded Schwab Platinum, even though I already have the regular Platinum. As has been noted here before, it is exactly the same as the regular in perks and fees, but you can also cash out points into your Schwab account at $0.0125. SUB of 60k points for $5k MSR in 3 months, which I think Amex is extending because of the quarantine. But we had a big charge in April that covered more than 60% of the MSR which made making the spend a lot easier. I hit the required spend yesterday and the points showed up in my Amex account today. At 1.25c per point that’s $750 which is more than the annual fee by itself. And I had a lot of regular MRs I can cash out now too.
Plus I’m getting double Uber credits and now this streaming/phone credit. Also 2x airline credit and everything else, though that's not worth much right now. When it’s time for my regular Platinum annual fee to hit, I think I’ll drop it and keep the Schwab one. It doesn’t make sense to carry 2 long term, but it’s a very nice play short term.
Other weird thing is the new account has not shown up either in Experian or TransUnion and it has been 30 days. I wondered if maybe Amex is reporting both Platinums as a single combined account, but the current balance on the reporting agencies only reflects the regular Plat amount. But I’ve also never seen it take that long for a new account to hit the reports.
AmEx will report on statement close. Most of the time it's reported on the second statement, but sometimes you only get one in. I had my Green card report in less than 30 days because they closed my first statement about 20 days after approval and they actually reported on the first statement. I'm waiting to see what happens with my new Marriott Brilliant. It closes next week I think, so we'll see. The one I opened last year was exactly on second statement.

Ok, I can’tbelieve I’m going to tell this story but since none of you know me...a year’s worth of deodorant reminded me of this story.
NO JUDGING!
I too tend to stock up. I just don’t care to shop. And I LOVE a good deal (more money for Disney). Years and years ago, we had been trying to decide if we would stay in our current house or move. We had been looking at houses for a year and never found the perfect one. So decided to stay put. One early morning, I’m in Target. The worker guy was starting to stock an end cap with TP on CLEARANCE .50 a package. I asked why? He said the packaging had changed and they were to have already gotten rid of it all but found a bunch in the back. They had to get rid of it by the end of the day. He helped me and I ended up with about 50 packs of TP! So, I get it all home and tell my DH that some good luck happened and look what I bought! THE NEXT WEEKEND....( who saw this coming?) we find a house!! Offer accepted. DH is cracking up about moving the TP. So every time we run over to the new house, I take several packs of TP. My friend said not to move it all at once or new neighbors will wonder what kind of problems we have😜

For that price, as long as it was a brand I was good with I'd have done the same thing regardless of whether I had a place to put it or not. So uhh...what's that blanket covering in the corner of the room? Oh that's my 50 cent toilet paper :teeth: Almost be so proud of the deal I wouldn't want to cover it up.

Haha Well I know some people come here for credit card stuff so I probably won’t post anymore. If you want more you’ll have to pm me
Who, on God's green earth, comes here for the CC stuff?!?! We are here for the OT chatter first and foremost and sweet, delicious baby pics fall into that category. Bring it on, girl! We need baby pics!
