I was able to rebook a rental car in July for $130 less this morning. At this point I’m not overly optimistic about the trip happening, but I’m not giving up yet 😊

Same here. I felt compelled to rebook flights to take DD15 to a BTS concert first week of May. I know the concert will be canceled, but it was thousands of points less, and the concert is not YET canceled. So, I had to do it, even though it will ultimately be a waste of time.

And someone on Facebook just said they just got off the phone with DVC and they are putting points in holding again. Not sure if this is true, but it sucks if it is. I am at 31 days today, so that would force me to make a decision, today, that I was not ready to make.
The official DVC Corona Virus policy page says otherwise:
"To make the process of changing reservations as smooth as possible, Disney Vacation Club has lifted the close-in reservation cancellation restrictions and will return any of your Points back as Vacation Points or Reservation Points without placing them into holding. In the meantime, all Points banking rules remain in place."

There's enough rumors floating around. I suggest people get into the habit of checking every "someone on Facebook/a friend I trust/I saw on Twitter" personal data points against official statements. Is it possible DVC has changed its policy and informed telephone CMs, who are implementing it perfectly, but nobody has updated the website? I suppose. It's much more likely a CM misspoke, or a DVC member misunderstood, or something was mangled through multiple communications. And even if the policy has changed prior to a public announcement, the public announcement will come soon enough that it is not worth spreading what is likely disinformation.

I realize with you being at 31 days you have a special interest in this information being correct. By all means call and see what they tell you if it will give you comfort. I find it very unlikely that Disney made a decision 2 days ago and has already reconsidered it, becoming less generous to members, then enforcing the policy without making it public to the detriment of people who relied on the public information.

Decided if I'm basically just going to be home for the next three weeks, I may as well deep clean the house.

I also thought about deep cleaning the apartment!

That's as far as I got.

I believe DVC is waiving the holding requirement, but banking and borrowing rules are back in effect. But still... if I were 31 days out, knowing now the CDC is recommending no larger than 50 people for the next 8 weeks, I would bet money Disney will not be back open in 31 days. I would cancel. But that's me.

Decided if I'm basically just going to be home for the next three weeks, I may as well deep clean the house. Decided to start with the upstairs bathroom. Currently bleaching the shower curtains in the washing machine, getting ready to go scrub the clawfoot tub. It's starting to warm up and the sun is coming out so I'm planning to ride my horse later too.
That is also my plan. I deep cleaned 2 bedrooms and a bathroom yesterday. Today, I have so much laundry (college student back from school) that it will probably take up my entire day. Plus I have to feed everyone 3 meals per day plus snacks. Not my usual routine.

I don't believe them, and the no holding is still written on their page. I just found it interesting that this person is claiming he spoke to them just this morning and that they stated the policy is changed today. People are idiots. No way I am calling though, I don't have time to sit on hold forever. I will either just pull the trigger online later, or just ride it out for now. If I didn't have this vacation, this whole Covid -19 thing would not be stressing me out at all.

That's what I've been saying. This is the start of the zombies, we better get ready.

But, really, The Walking Dead did not prepare me for this. How did they find stores will supplies to loot? In reality, shelves are empty. They lied.
What I want to know, is how have the not run out of matches and working lighters? A couple of weeks ago, they were going through matches like crazy, and I was thinking, don't you need to be careful with those? Then someone lit a cigarette, again, matches and lighters. It's been many many years now, shouldn't they have run out LOL?

The SW Plus and Priority were 2k for us last month. I was surprised that our Disney Chase was 5k, but figured out that's because it is a "Signature" version of the card. So, you can have cards with the same branding with different minimums based on the level of the card. Some reps are also reportedly flexible on lowering card limits below the minimum, but the ones we dealt with certainly were not.
Thanks!

DP on Amex travel credits. When SW opened their schedule through Oct. 30, I mentioned I bought a number of tickets for early Cal football game trips. In order to trigger the Amex travel credits, I used gift cards (purchased at office supply store with CIC) plus relatively small credit card charges for each. I was very happy to see this morning that the small charges did trigger the Amex travel fee reimbursements. The largest charge was $64.98, and it triggered a reimbursement. I got a total of $191.54 in travel credits for my Aspire, $156.48 for my Platinum and $60.48 (also a single charge) for my Rose Gold. I'm still waiting to see if travel credits triggered under DH's Aspire.

So one more item to add to my stress:

My older stepson is 22 and has just been discharged from the US Navy. He was most recently stationed in Japan (yay), and the Navy sent him to Washington state upon his return to the US (what were they thinking?????). His original plan was to stay temporarily with a friend until his job on the east coast starts (not sure when), but get this: That friend is on a cruise right now (not sure which one, where, or where the cruise is trying to dock).

His mom just got out of the hospital with a condition that would most definitely classify her as a high risk group, but she hasn't seen him in over a year. But he probably shouldn't go see her, which sucks for both of them. So in all likelihood he would come stay temporarily (no idea how long) with us... and room with his younger (14) brother... who goes back and forth each week between our house and his mom's.

Just such a terrible thing all around.

I'm just over here doing my best to keep my local grocery store chain afloat and trying to meet that MSR! Oh and to keep up a cheerful face for the folks at work.
A friend of mine was sort of in a similar situation. Stepmom is an ER nurse so exposed to a lot. They all mutually decided child would stay with mom for now instead of going back and forth to minimize spreading of anything. Mom is encouraging constant phone and video calls to dad. As hard as it is, I think they made a great decision.

Ha, he just said he called back and got a different answer. If I were him, I would have done that before posting something like that.

I just got a new email from DVC reiterating the policy of not putting points into holding if you cancel during the resort closures. The thing I would worry about in your position would be whether they extend the closing into April when your tri is set. The beneficial policy is only for cancellations while the resorts are closed. I doubt Disney will rush back o open while the public feels unsafe, but that is the thing not currently guaranteed.

I have seen several reports of people cancelling early-mid April trips now, less than 30 days and points not being put into holding.

Yeah I just made DH lunch which was bizarre lol. It's amazing how many dishes and laundry you go through being at home. I'm trying to wash our towels extra right now too.
