I'm not usually a panicking person, I do research for a living and think very logically (statistical probability of an accident, etc), but the newness of the virus, the unreliable data out of China, the shifting situation, etc. has me unnerved. And, frankly, the idea of being sick on a cruise ship sounds like a nightmare! I'm not really a cruise person to begin with (too crowded)!

We have travel insurance, but not "cancel for any reason" insurance.

I was trying to talk my husband into booking a cruise for next fall. No dice. I’ll just have to keep working on him to go to Hawaii instead.

I work in research too and I so agree with you (though I am a cruise person, lol). Too many unknowns! I was debating if we should keep our Alaska cruise since PIF is coming up. If we did, I was going to get cancel for any reason insurance. But today I realized I can't because the insurance that lets you get it before PIF is before it's fully PAID, not when it's DUE. I paid it off early last month. Oops. So that cinched it and I canceled the cruise. If it all blows over, maybe we can get a last minute deal. Or maybe it'll just be a land trip or maybe a road trip. I'm just glad to not be locked into any penalties until things become clearer.

I'm holding tight with mine for this summer, but we still have weeks to go before PIF day. It's not looking promising, though.

Do you think all of the AA shutdowns have made people less open to posting on our thread? I know I've personally been a little scared to post approvals/redemptions since all of that started on reddit. And I'm not even using "advanced" strategies! Which I will admit makes me sad since part of the "fun" is posting after being approved!

I also am getting nervous about our August cruise. My PIF date is end of March I think and I still owe about $200. I'm not usually an alarmist but the Diamond Princess stories are unreal.

The thing about cruises... and traveling in general right now I guess to resorts, on planes, being at WDW is the worry of quarantine, at least for me. So someone on a cruise ship gets sick and BOOM! You are suddenly floating listless in the middle of the ocean because no country will accept you and then you have to quarantine for 14 days. Or you get stuck in a hotel for 14 days. Or you were on a plane with someone who has coronavirus and then you are contract traced and suddenly locked up at home.

We can't just shut down America like what happened in China. It just won't work. But the timing for prepping and planning is now. I guess we just have to be flexible.

Wash hands and stay home if sick.

I hate to be a vulture, but I watch stocks and the economy very closely all the time anyway. There will be buying opportunities soon. And prices on cruises in particular are likely to drop and I do think that will include Disney if this keeps going and it will. Coronavirus is not going away overnight.

Conventional wisdom says today will be ugly because it is a Friday and no one wants to be holding the bag into the weekend, market-wise.
Barclays is saying it is too early to buy. I probably agree with that too.

I did buy some on Monday because I thought the drop would be a short-lived fluke. I guess not!

Right now Florida is not showing any confirmed cases. Only one confirmed case showing on the East coast in Massachusetts, but, there are 20 out of 60 62 cases in the US where location has not been announced. At least 13 of these 60 62 cases are from the Diamond Princess and are undergoing treatment in Nebraska after being quarantined. 57 people from the Diamond Princess were quarantined in Nebraska total.

I never gave it much thought while at Disney. However, I was a little reticent to tell extended family that daughter was in Hong Kong, Macau, Thailand, Cambodia in January, just before the epidemic became public. In fact she did not know about it until her return home and I told her. Washington Area airports were not screening yet, but Lax and I believe the NYC airports had just started the previous day that she returned. She was healthy and none of us were sick, thankfully.

Cruises are not my thing and my daughter is constantly asking me to do a Disney cruise with the grands and her. Won't be happening. But right now, risk of getting coronavirus is pretty small in the US.

I would say no...unless it is associated with what you refer to above. Which I also find crazy to think that an airline is able to figure out anything from what people post on a forum under a screen name. I can't believe they would waste time with that. Any advanced strategy gets ruined by much bigger fish than us.

Made 3 small payments this past Sunday in quick succession on ATT wireless bill using the AMEX offer. $55 credit is already showing in my account.
I then ported all my numbers to Verizon and earned 4500 in SWRR.

Did you get a deal for switching? Still looking at possibly switching carriers just to get an iphone deal. We all need new phones. I hate that they don't do anything for existing customers. I am doing the TMobile trial right now and it sucks here unfortunately. I really think I need to stick with ATT here. Verizon may be a possibility, I know they were awful here a few years ago, but I think they have gotten better.

Back after TWO snow days! I'll say snow day #1 was a total gift as the snow didn't really start until after school would have been out. #2 though probably more legit as Weds night the roads were BAD.

So in the saga that is me and Staples, I went to one of my Staples on Weds and thought why not try....grabbed $1200 in VGC. I was at checkout and someone saw I had a stack (I was going to run $200 on my chase for the offer and $1000 on my Surpass). The employee told the cashier, those are limit one. So I set the stack of $1000 aside to just check out the one. Well she didn't seem to care (or understand what I was doing), as I was paying for the 1 (with my chase), she started to rip the back off the others. So I walked out w/ $1200

Then yesterday I tried a different one. I grabbed 2 cards (so only $400) and when I got to the register the one open was a GENERAL MANAGER. I figure awwww crap. Nope, he rang both up no questions. So there really is NO rhyme or reason to them enforcing this. And I'm managing to get more than I thought I would onto my surpass this week

How many times can I say I hate/loathe/despise the Verizon company administration, yet I am an Xfinity customer for my cell phone and also cable and internet for the past 2 years and Xfinity phone service runs on the Verizon network. I almost didn't go with Xfinity for phone service but the deal was too good.

Right now, Xfinity is offering a $300 visa card for new Samsung customers - the reason I didn't wait until next month to upgrade. Not long ago they were offering a $200 card for iPhone. I got a Samsung S10 plus for $849.99 with gift card which will arrive in a few months for a net of $549.99. I am paying by the month to try and get credit card offers - right now that will amount to only $40 off using chase and Amex, so I'm sort of holding off hoping to see a better offer. So, effectively I am at $509.99 for my phone.

I wanted a phone with 512GB because I seem to go through my gigs a little fast. I could have gotten a few dollars for my old phone $72, but kept it rather than downloading stuff. It is an S8 and still works as a camera, for email, for Disboards, for music, etc on wifi. The babies now have their own Samsung tablets thanks to younger DD at Xmas, but now I can give the old phone if they are here without. Most of us are android focused except older daughter.

Anyway as to the 512Gb, even the Samsung website is reporting sold out on the S20 ultra 5g model with the awesome camera. That is the phone I wanted and now I am making do until at least a year. The situation in China is being blamed for a shortage of 'new' phones but I really don't know. I do know that no new phones have been delivered yet as March is the target date for release.

I've had no problem with service but I'm in an area that is saturated with Verizon so can't speak for West Virginia. And, after having been on every network, I have to admit that for here, Verizon is the most consistent. ewwww.

Edited to add: there are no extra fees with Xfinity. I did have to pay for taxes at the va tax rate, about $40ish but my plan is still $12 for each gig of data. And we stay on wifi pretty consistently.

I thought it was interesting yesterday, I saw the post on Facebook about Tokyo Disney closing and the very next post was from Brian Wilson announcing two new shows in May in Japan. I guess he isn't worried
