But now I'm thinking that a small DVC contract bought direct to get these benefits still pays off for those that take multiple trips, or even those that overlap one trip per year. The other option is moving to Florida.

Worth noting that one now needs 100 direct points to qualify for the perks (including AP discount), so that particular value proposition is not nearly what it once was).

I know we have some Rothys lovers in the group, I’m looking for the $20 support link if anyone has one they want to share. Feel free to PM me.

Also for the round toe flats- I’m normally an 8 but sometimes an 8.5. Sounds like I should order the 8.5 right?
I would say to go with the larger size for sure. They are great shoes!

For my NOLA peeps, @cajunmommy and anyone else local, can you recommend the best way to get from Airport to French Quarter? Checking on Lyft it looks like there might be a min fare and also they pick up from the parking garage. Is that right? Is it a long walk, or pretty doable? Is drop off for departures the same?
Sorry for the late response. When are you flying into MSY? Spring break IIRC? The new terminals are set to open Nov 6th (after months of delays) and traffic patterns will change.
I know someone who drives for Lyft. I’ll try to get details.

Wow, really?!? I thought that location was private banking only (whatever that is). So you opened the account no problem there? You totally made my day!
I noticed the private banking logo online, but I think it’s just one service they offer :confused3 I had no problem walking in and getting helped right away!

Ohhh! Ohhh!!! Thats right near Joe's! Haha. I am from Omaha but DW has family down that way.
Right across the street!

So YNAB users... We did the migration to new YNAB and even after going through tutorials I'm totally confused about how nYNAB is handing our budget. My day to day job as an accountant is reconciling accounts and balances and I cannot figure out what nYNAB did to our budget, and I really don't like how it handles credit cards.

I could deal with all that, but as best as I can tell, the month-to-month view is completely gone and there's no way to actually budget in future months. You know... Budget, like a budget.

Am I just stupid and missing this? Because I'm not going to bother wrapping my head around the rest of this if they changed actual budgeting. Are there any other budget programs that work basically, well, like YNAB4 did? Especially with regards to future months.

Yes, not as good as it once was. But, family of four buying a gold pass would save the difference between a Gold pass and a regular priced platinum pass = $441 x 4 = $1767 per year. Over 50 years this would be $88,340. Do it every 2 years = $44,170. Simple, simple math - no variables. This is ignoring price increases, time value of money and is just simple thinking that will probably drive an accountant nuts!
Since Disney jacked up the prices and took away pass options, it may be better than it once was.

@Lain do you have a link to share?!

Dds saga continues— They finally left Belize and are in Atlanta. They decided before they left Belize to get connecting flight to Chicago instead and try for an Uber at midnight to drive them 2 hrs to campus. They land in Atlanta to find 2 flights to original Campus area have been delayed. A 6:00 and an 8:00 both delayed till after 10:00. So they go to first flight (6:00) they said full go to gate whatever and try the other flight. They go to that gate and no one there. They finally find second flight (8:00 and their original flight) and they say this one full try the other. Lol. They go back to first flight and all of a sudden they have seats for them?! Dd calls me all excited we are boarding soon and getting back tonight. Texts me 30 min later- flight now delayed till tomorrow AM. Lol The 8:00 flight still scheduled for tonight but no way to get on it. This has been a trying day for them. Now spending night in airport and hopefully getting on early AM flight.

I'm having a problem that I believe a few of you have had in the past with Amex. I met the MSR on my Delta Biz Plat back in June, but the SUB points have still not posted. I have been inquiring regularly by chat, but they have really just been stringing me along. Finally this morning they said that I didn't receive the SUB because my property tax payment was an ineligible payment. They then showed me the list of ineligible payments upon which they made this determination, and of course property tax payments was not on there. When I pointed this out, they said that my request had previously been raised up to their "internal investigations" team, and they had ruled it ineligible. I asked who I could speak to further about this, and they gave me a snail mail address in El Paso, which turns out to be their "General Inquiries" address. Crazy that in this day and age they ask me to snail mail something in. So I called in and the rep was helpful but gave me the same reason. I also told her that it was incorrect, so she is sending my case back to internal investigations for reconsideration.

Trying to consider next steps if this doesn't work. I don't want to let this go, especially since I haven't done anything here that was against any rules.

I am so sorry. This problem cropping up is part of the reason I went on my rant with Amex the other day. I had the same thing happen with P2’s Delta Plat Biz 2 years ago. They just keep putting you off and telling you to wait if they don’t give you the hard no. Just document every time you talk to them. What finally worked for me was that I opened a twitter account under DH’s business name and DM’d them. They said they would look into it and 24 hours later the points finally posted. So that might be worth a shot.

@Judique after repeatedly having the only option to buy a Platinum AP for the 5 of us (or upgrade to it) the AP benefit was the reason I knew I had to have a direct contract and then supplement with resale. They will always remind people that the AP benefit for DVC’s “can disappear at any time and is not guaranteed” but ultimately I figured even if I only got a year or two out of it when you times the number times 5 I was coming out ahead. I know that was part of the reason @wendow bought direct first too.

P.S. I love the picture of your granddaughter. My D8 was inspired by the Costco boy costumes too. She is Amelia Earhart. It is so cute. :)

I use Every Dollar. Not sure how it compares to YNAB as I have never used it, but Every Dollar lets me set up a monthly budget.

Today I decided to check annual pass prices. I have a couple of annual passes from just before the no expiry tickets and all the dated ticket stuff started. My passes are good for 365 days, no blackouts, so it occurred to me that I might want to 'save' them for a trip that might include a black out period, such as Xmas or Easter.

Anyway, a platinum plus with tax is 1298.34. Wow. With DVC it is $999. plus tax.

DVC can buy Gold passes as can Florida Residents. A Gold pass is $699 and $744.44 with tax. So today I checked out my 'offers' and came up with Disney Gift cards that brought my out of pocket cost down to $640.94. I'll use this pass over 3 trips, Nov 2019, Feb 2020, and Oct/Nov 2020. I'll enter a park approximately 25-30 days over these 3 trips. Each trip will have an estimated ticket cost of $213.65. Or possible daily cost of $25.64 assuming 25 entries. I can live with this.

But now I'm thinking that a small DVC contract bought direct to get these benefits still pays off for those that take multiple trips, or even those that overlap one trip per year. The other option is moving to Florida.
This is why I didn't renew my annual passes. I would need to make three trips over the next year to get the value out of them and with the uncertainty of room discounts, it wasn't worth it. We'll probably return sometime in 2021 and 2022. I'm considering the Universal seasonal pass if we cruise out of Orlando a couple of times this year. I believe it's around 300pp
