Well, I got my pest control auto pay (only ever other month) changed over to my Amex so that's one small step toward keeping spend on it.

I did a test HOA payment through Plastiq (because my actual HOA "online payment" option is a farce) and will know in a week or so if it worked ok/posted on time. That's an ongoing monthly thing so THAT will (hopefully) appease the RAT.

No other plans at this time other than the occasional this and that. My property taxes are all paid through escrow so I can't use that.

Fingers crossed that it all works because I am going to apply for the Aspire early next year!

Who knew private school would be so helpful in meeting MSRs? Just got a flyer about opportunity for DS to go to Peru in the Summer 2021. No idea on the cost and that’s if we stick it out but pretty sure it will equal a MSR. Plus it’s not to purchase the long-sleeved polos and extra sweatshirts that I put off initially.

A little tip I got here, something I never thought to ask. If you've had the escrow account for a year and your mortgage is in good standing, you may be able to get rid of the escrow account. It was fairly easy for me - did it all through SM.

It's awesome for MSR because it's not just property tax (which has a fee for us), but home insurance which doesn't have a fee (and takes Amex!).

Oh? That's interesting! You SM'd your mortgage company, then? I mean, it's nice to have it all rolled into the mortgage payment for convenience, but now that I have a RAT to take care of....

It’s like a preboard. Anyone can request one. They won’t tell you no. We did it for years cause my dd has a severe peanut allergy and I needed to wipe down everything and clean the floor under her seat. Most of the time, when I asked for a preboard, I explained why but if I didn’t, they never asked me.

That's interesting--I just assumed if you had a child under 7, you simply joined the family boarding process. All of mine were older than 7 by the time SW implemented this policy--which, whatever its issues, is way better than the A-B-C group cattle-call that existed the few times we flew SW with small children.

That is exactly why I stopped escrowing a couple of years ago, to meet MSR's. Now I always get an MSR when it's tax time :-)

I'm having a problem that I believe a few of you have had in the past with Amex. I met the MSR on my Delta Biz Plat back in June, but the SUB points have still not posted. I have been inquiring regularly by chat, but they have really just been stringing me along. Finally this morning they said that I didn't receive the SUB because my property tax payment was an ineligible payment. They then showed me the list of ineligible payments upon which they made this determination, and of course property tax payments was not on there. When I pointed this out, they said that my request had previously been raised up to their "internal investigations" team, and they had ruled it ineligible. I asked who I could speak to further about this, and they gave me a snail mail address in El Paso, which turns out to be their "General Inquiries" address. Crazy that in this day and age they ask me to snail mail something in. So I called in and the rep was helpful but gave me the same reason. I also told her that it was incorrect, so she is sending my case back to internal investigations for reconsideration.

Trying to consider next steps if this doesn't work. I don't want to let this go, especially since I haven't done anything here that was against any rules.
CFPB but don’t get you hopes up

Had the same problem back in March, but with Federal Taxes. I quickly determined that the Chat Reps were absolutely useless - they consistently told me the tax payment was not eligible - but every time I called, they checked with a supervisor and confirmed it was eligible.

Couple of things :-

1) The first time it got escalated to their investigations team - the case was closed after 10 days as not having met the MSR. I received no notification of this outcome.

2) The second time it got escalated - I got a really good CSR who prepared a detailed set of notes to send to the investigations team including the reasons why I had met the spend and should be awarded the miles. I think this is what helped get me a better resolution ultimately. Took 3 months though.

Good luck - don't give up - and don't believe a word the Chat reps say.

Yup, I SM'd the mortgage company. Took a little time for them to complete the process (a week or 2 maybe). When it was complete, they sent a refund check for the escrow account balance.

I remember seeing a post on here with tips to navigate reddit, but now I can't find it. I feel like y'all are zooming around in sports cars while I need training wheels for my tricycle.

I'm waiting for my SW Perf Biz to re-earn the cp in 2020. I don't know what to do in the mean time. All we have tried for is UR / SW points the last few years. DH and I have both earned the CSR/CSP bonus in the last 48 months and are 3/24 or less, and I have a very old Freedom card. Any other UR options? Is there a recommended waiting period between Chase biz apps? We have multiple rentals that could be considered separate businesses, but I'd prefer to minimize scrutiny.

We used to get a lot of free hotels through Hilton Hhonors amex (still have the free one) but reward nights are crazy now. Is Hyatt or Marriott a more rewarding option now?

Or we can go for AA miles. I haven't had one of their Citi cards in 5+ years. Do you have you wait 7 years for personal cards? With their new award system, I'm not able to get much availability from our little airport using Avios, so AA would be useful, or UR as always.

I'm also in KS! There is a new branch that opened in Leawood on Monday. I had looked over the weekend for the closest branch and saw that Tulsa was it, but when I checked to verify that was correct yesterday, the Leawood location popped up as an option. I didn't need any paperwork as sole proprietor, just my social.

Wow, really?!? I thought that location was private banking only (whatever that is). So you opened the account no problem there? You totally made my day!

What # did you call for the retention offer? It’s time for me to make that painful call.
Called the number on the back then asked to talk to retention office. Said I had other high fee cards like csr and platinum and was trying to figure out whether or not to keep it. Then asked if they had any retention offers.

Thanks this is great to hear. I’m hoping the phone CSR today is like the one you mentioned. I’m sick of messing with it but am not going to give up on the points.

Ohhh! Ohhh!!! Thats right near Joe's! Haha. I am from Omaha but DW has family down that way.

I am disappointed. I’m such an advocate for contacting airlines on Twitter when you need stuff done, it’s always worked for me the last couple years. After DMing AA again to change an award flight they responded over 2 hours later with “we don’t see that availability”. I responded with a screenshot an hour and a half ago. Dead air. I feel like my favorite airline loophole died 😭

It could just be AA. I tried Twitter a year ago when everyone here said it was great. And crickets...
Tried again for another issue almost a year later, and also no real help at all. I did better complaining on the phone, which is a pain.
