Has anyone ever flown on Christmas Day? Advice on it being more/less expensive and more/less crowded?
Good point!Just chiming in that DH can get another shot at the 100k MR Biz Plat with a no lifetime language offer. He could also open up different varieties of personal Platinum cards (Ameriprise, Charles Schwab, Morgan Stanley), subject to some conditions, that each have 60k MR SUBs (the Charles Schwab version was recently targeting clients with a 100k MR offer). Maybe check in with this thread and hold his hand next time.

We used to fly Christmas Day all the time. This was pre-kids but in order to please both families we did Christmas Eve in NY with DH's family and then flew on Christmas Day to FL to my parents. (I now wonder why the heck we did that - packing gifts at midnight to make the first flight to FL) I don't remember much about the price, I would suspect it would be slightly lower as most people would want to be at their destination by Christmas Day. I don't remember it being any more crowded, more surprised that there were more than just us that flew on Christmas Day, but I do remember everyone being really nice to each other and happy to be there.
Thanks! DH and I were discussing Hawaii for next year and maybe flying out on Christmas Day. Even getting closer to the holidays now (how is it Sept 1 already?), there’s still decent award availability and lower prices on AA and United.
We most likely won’t need the laundry but that’s good to know.Since you are in a studio, you have access to a free laundry room although you have to buy the soap.
And, if I'm remembering correctly, the Sunset Savannah means you are near the front of the hotel as opposed to 5 miles up the corridors! Or maybe that's the value studios I'm thinking of.
I check in tomorrow afternoon. I think you will be gone already though. We're at the swan now. Our flight home is scheduled for 5pm tomorrow night. So far I think we're looking okay still for that. If so, we had preemptively bought some supplies at publix on Friday. If we get out tomorrow, we're going to have a bunch of water, chobani tubs, cold cuts, eggs, cheese, English muffins, among other things. If anyone here is around and wants. Let me know! We'll see what happens. I do have flights booked tues and wed on sw points to ISP just in case (and corresponding rental cars to get us home). But hoping we can get on the united 5pm tomorrow to EWR.
In Chicago, 4WD is very helpful. After getting stuck in my own drive after heavy snow, I decided I will never buy anything but 4WD again, which made Subaru an easy pick. When we purchased my car, all Subarus were AWD. (I think they have a non-AWD sports car now). Sadly last car we just couldn’t afford a Subie and DH got a 4WD Jeep. So far, so good.We have 3 Subarus at our house. We love them! But we also live in snow country and they are great in the winter.
Congrats!I hope everyone here gets to a safe place and this storm decides veer off to sea!
...anddd..... P2 got instant approval on CIP2!that was a lot faster than the first app!
ETA it was already in the account page when I looked right after posting this...wow! SM'd asking to expedite.... I hope we get it while the Staples sale is still happening.... is it too soon to request an employee card?(for me) or is that a bad idea since I'll be apping in a few months for #2 (I hope)
I’m glad you are safe. The studio is better for sure. I’ve never been in one, is there a kitchen besides the microwave?I just took whatever was ready. I asked for a microwave in the standard room first and they said that’s only for medical purposes. We were able to pay $114 total for the 4 nights to get a standard studio. Our view is out to the Sunset Savannah so not bad. The microwave was really what we wanted so we could make food. One cat is exploring and the other is hiding lol
DH forgot is phone cord (of course). We are gonna go to Epcot here soon to get our magnet and try some food and wine stuff.
I once got an iPhone charger from the front desk at AK. (It was beat to crap so I think they just gave it to me out of lost and found.)DH forgot is phone cord (of course). We are gonna go to Epcot here soon to get our magnet and try some food and wine stuff.
You can buy the fuel rod phone chargers inside of Epcot.
The Biz Train rolls on... Auto Approval!! (I think the last 2 for my wife went pending so that's awesome!)
CitiBusiness® / AAdvantage® Platinum Select® World Mastercard®Congratulations, Mrs. SouthFayetteFan.You've been approved for a CitiBusiness® / AAdvantage® Platinum Select® World Mastercard® with an initial credit limit of $20,000.
Hopefully the card arrives as normal within about a week. I plan to immediately meet the full MSR via the HELOC/Plastiq method.
- This was done with a Biz Mailer code that "officially" expired in mid-August
- 75k miles / $5k MSR so I'll get 80k AA miles out of it
- Today was exactly 95 days from her last approval
- I cancelled the previous card on 8/4/19

It has a kitchen sink, dishes, silverware, a sponge to clean stuff, microwave, and fridge. This is our first time in a studio and I like it a lotIn Chicago, 4WD is very helpful.
