Has anyone ever flown on Christmas Day? Advice on it being more/less expensive and more/less crowded?

A couple of times, the most recent last Christmas. Usually fares are the same or slightly less (if bought in advance) and ATL, at least was much quieter and my airport was very quiet. I actually enjoy flying/airports/etc much more than crazy family scenes so to me it's the best time to fly :)

registered my AmEx to the toll processor for a 10% back offer from AmEx

I did that yesterday-we're all prepared for our drive to Port Canaveral in 4 months. Nothing like being prepared 😁

Okay I'm looking at these delta vaca offers. (Yes, late to the party, damn back to school last week). Has Delta done this often the past? It's kinda hard for me to plan a summer 2020 vaca right now. I mean I haven't even gone through the calendar to see when the kids are mine next summer. I also have no idea where I'd want to go. I'd look at school breaks, but the kids and I don't sync. In Michigan they ask counties keep the same breaks. Well I teach in one county live in the other. It's kinda silly as literally the other side of the road from us is a different county.

If this is a "common" occurrence, then I'll wait it out and try again when stuff is more concrete. Then again, it does seem like a good deal, LOL

Hi everyone! We set our alarms for 5:30am and checked the weather, decided we were okay pushing our flight out to tonight since there was availability. Were back on a connecting flight, 2 hr layover in Dallas but got 8ish hours of park time. Last thing we did was get to our Ogas reservation #priorities

I would be okay sticking it out but DH had decided after we got to the airport thursday that he really couldn't afford to miss multiple days of work if the airport closed :( we were planning for him to work on Tuesday.

AoA removed our last two nights off the bill this morning. At least that made it easy to decide how to pay? That made our remaining room bill $325 and I had $282 of my CSR credit left

Sooooo anything I need to know about Dallas Love Field? Or somewhere to grab a bite quick between flights? Never been there.
Love Field is tiny. Two hours will seem like an eternity there 😂

I check in tomorrow afternoon. I think you will be gone already though.

I could try to put it on hold for you here at swan but I don't think they have refrigeration from what I've read. But I can check. I could leave the water and English muffins if you want to pick those up there. I also have a bottle of diet publix brand lemon lime soda. I think that's all that's not perishable.

I'm also going to post on a DVC group on Facebook and see if there's anyone here or in the general area that wants the perishables.

Has anyone done a Prime Pantry box order to WDW lately? I did one back in 2015. Is it still a good idea to do the order about a week out and put resort address and confirmation number on it? I think there’s maybe a fee for them to hold the box too?

Way OT but my sisters have are having a huge fight and one used my reddit account to make an AITA post. If anyone wants to weight into my teenage sisters fighting feel free to comment lol meanwhile the poop is under my bed at my dads!!!

ETA for more info my dad isn’t home and they are home with me alone. Im not cleaning it. I can handle that stuff (that’s why I don’t have animals) If it isn’t clean by the time my dad gets home he will probably punish them both and clean it himself. They fight like crazy and I’m about to leave them home alone lol they are 16 and 15.

I don't have an answer for your question but I did want to say there's a nice grocery delivery option thread on the resorts board. I was trying to figure out what to do for our sept trip. Since for this trip it's just 3 adults and we're only staying 4 nights, I decided we're just going to pack some coke zero, water bottles, and a few snacks in a checked bag. Hopefully nothing explodes!

In Chicago, 4WD is very helpful. After getting stuck in my own drive after heavy snow, I decided I will never buy anything but 4WD again, which made Subaru an easy pick. When we purchased my car, all Subarus were AWD. (I think they have a non-AWD sports car now). Sadly last car we just couldn’t afford a Subie and DH got a 4WD Jeep. So far, so good.

We feel the same way. And funny I actually have a 4WD Jeep too! The rest of the family all of have Subarus. They can be pricey depending on options but we got pretty good deals on ours.

Thanks! Yeah I might look into that too, but I don’t want to have to sit around and wait on the delivery or anything. I’d be putting only non-perishables in the Prime box so we have some snacks/breakfasts.

Well, if it were me, I much prefer cleaning cat poo to cat pee. The poo dries and you can pick it up and vacuum it and deodorize. The pee smell stays around forever until you throw out the rug (and gradually eliminate all rugs in your house - just my experience!) Much easier to maintain hard floors.

I agree with this completely. I’d much rather pick up my cat’s poop than when they pee on their mat because for some reason they couldn’t get in the litter box 😡

I don’t see a toaster but there’s a coffee maker. Dh likes the keurigs better lol. I told him we should join dvc so we can do this more and he said it could be our hurricane policy 😆

Great policy! Book last week of August and First of September. I was looking at availability this morning and studios all over WDW were almost all available for part or all of this week. People can cancel without penalty when your home or Orlando or Hilton Head, Aulani or Vero are under hurricane warnings up to seven days. Those same nights had been pretty much booked tight earlier last week.

And, I sometimes carry my keuriq with me. I dislike the coffee.

Has anyone ever flown on Christmas Day? Advice on it being more/less expensive and more/less crowded?

Like @chattadisser we would spend Christmas Eve with my parents and then head out on Christmas Day to spend with his family. With the time change it worked, but I can't believe we did that for all those years before kids. This was many years ago, but the flights were definitely cheaper and it wasn't very crowded. Back in the day, Delta used to provide free alcohol on Christmas Day. I will never forget the 75 year old lady asking for a Champagne split every time they came by and then sticking it in her bag to drink later!
