I canceled a flight yesterday and had the fee refunded to my SW account. I booked a new flight today and applied the fee no problem.

Total amateur hour over here. I went ahead and booked a SW flight for my September trip and after paying I realized I booked it for tomorrow - oops.
I tried to modify, but kept getting an error that they couldn’t verify the flight. So I just cancelled it. I was given the option to refund the $5.60 or use for future, I chose the latter, thinking I would immediately rebook, but I couldn’t figure out how to apply the credit. So my credit card was charged 3 times for the $5.60.
I still have to add the companion pass, so I can use the $5.60 credit for that, right?
Do I have to do something to apply it or is it supposed to just show up?

Don't think you can. The credit has to be used by the same person as the original booking.

ETA: On the payment screen that should be something that says 'Use Travel Funds' or something like that - thats where you would enter the booking reference associated with your credit.

Credits are attached to the confirmation number so you would put in the person's name who originally had the flight booked and the conf# to use a credit. You cannot use a SW credit for another person.

My cousin is not in a flood zone and did not have flood insurance. His brand new house flooded during Harvey. They got some money from Fema and donations from their church and friends. But so much money came out of their pocket as all their flooring, cabinetry (kitchen and baths), walls, trim, and lots of furniture was completely ruined. Their flood insurance was only $200 and they hadn't taken it🤦‍♀️
Yep I’m calling tomorrow lol. Not sure if they can do anything this late though

We currently have flights scheduled from Ft Myers early 9/3. I’m tempted to book a just in case ( we get canceled on Tuesday)flight on 9/4. I know they’ll cancel flights on the same day. What about flights on consecutive days?

It comes down to logistics - if flights are canceled Mon/Tues are the planes in the right locations for Wednesdays flights etc. There could be some disruption for few days getting everything back to normal.

I realize that. I’m just wondering if SW will cancel my reservation if I have flights on back to back days.

@Haley R After Hurricane Andrew in 1992, Florida significantly strengthened their building code so your house should be safe. South Florida, where we live, has even more stringent codes (although my house is from 1953). I think you have a screen over your pool? That might take a beating.
Hurricane Irma knocked out our power for 2 weeks and overwhelmed our area with tree debris. This was the extra gift from our avocado tree. There weren’t enough avocado toast eating millennials to eat them all :)

Wow! Trust me, I could eat quite a few of those, and I'm not even a millennial. ;)

We do have a screen over our pool so I’m a little worried about that. My neighbor made it sound like they never do anything extra to help their’s stay intact. The problem with our town is it’s relatively new and most people aren’t from Florida. This area hasn’t really been hit hard with a hurricane in recent years so I’m not sure how trusting I should be of their opinions lol

Ps-that’s a lot of avocados! Dh would be in heaven

Resisted the FOMO on the Hilton card and went for the Amex gold:

Congratulations, Wendy, you have been Approved!

Why can't chase learn a lesson here?? Instant approvals just make me so very happy. 50k MRs for me and 15k for dh. I was able to use his BBP link and pull up the 50k offer for me!

:offtopic:

@Haley R @DrFacilier I was going to reply on the SWGE AP preview thread, but it is closed. The top circular button on the R droid's controller makes sound effects when blasters or jets you can purchase separately are attached to the arms. I have been watching YouTube videos and found a very comprehensive review that also outlined each personality chip's sounds.
Huh that’s interesting! The cm told us it’s just a button for pairing :rotfl:

Some places are worth the money lol NY can be cheap too if you are willing to live in the boroughs. I paid $1100 a month for my first apartment. It was a studio with no AC no dishwasher or washer/dryer but it was safe and clean. We have all that now in VA and a gym, a pool, a garage, a package concierge service, a wine storage area, and a pet spa lol he is wanting equivalent amenities in NY and that’s where it gets pricey lol
I think the older you get the more amenities you need. I don't think I could go back to a studio apartment in my 40's even if I didn't have kids. In my 60's when I retire....maybe as long as it's on beach somewhere.
