Poor baby... :( I hope she feels better soon. It's terrible to see your pet like that.

Thank you! She’s a little bit better tonight. Not sure she knows her name or who we are yet but she does seem more familiar with her surroundings since she went and got into her favorite spot in our closet on her own. It’s tough because you want to comfort her but I know it probably stresses her out more to have someone she can’t recognize interacting with her.

I didn’t know that. I thought that the $5.60 was refundable without restrictions.

I canceled a flight yesterday and had the fee refunded to my SW account. I booked a new flight today and applied the fee no problem.

OT... would those of you who are not DVC members but HAVE rented DVC points mind telling me what company you used (if you did) and whether it was easy? I have been toying with it for some time and read the DVC boards but it seems overwhelming and I don't want to mess it up. Also, I'd be looking for the Grand Californian which I understand is pretty difficult to come by.

I’m confused. It used to non refundable if you changed your points flight, but now it is refundable? I have cancelled and changed flights before that I booked with points and was always refunded, but it’s been awhile since I cancelled one.
Before 10/2018ish, if you booked a points flight, and then modified it to either another flight or if your original flight dropped and you did it to get back the difference in points, that made your $5.60 fee non refundable - if you ended up cancelling you had to take a fare credit. So if your price changed you were better off just cancelling and rebooking vs modifying.

After 10/2018, they stopped doing that, so even if you modify your points booking you have the option to either get a refund or a fare credit.

Seriously? I have a family member with chronic issues from Lyme disease (it was diagnosed too late for the antibiotics to kick in before his many issues did) and he was very young and healthy when it happened. I had no idea that it "doesn't exist." Hugs to you and your DD - I know how debilitating Lyme can be.
Yeah, unfortunately, the CDC says Lyme cannot persist for years or show up years later. Insurance companies base their coverage for Lyme treatment on that so most people end up with naturapaths. Your average doc is clueless how to treat it.
So sorry to hear about your family member too. It’s rapidly growing in young people.

My sister and daughter have both rented points with David’s DVC rental......
Grand Californian may be difficult since they need an owner there willing to rent points in the 7-11 month resort Priority window

Looks like we won’t be staying at universal anyway. All of the hotels that allow cats are sold out on the chase portal. They were all showing availability earlier today
Availability may open up as she nears us. My friend tried booking Universal today and he said some of the Universal hotels are non-refundable. The unknown is stressful -- I have you, your dh and kitties is my thoughts. I found it hard to concentrate at work today and I'm pretty sure tomorrow will be the same. I'm trying to fight off the urge to go to Publix tomorrow morning and grab a quart of milk and some raspberries and strawberries (for some reason I feel like we have to have fresh berries this weekend).

Our county (Palm Beach) is now under a state of emergency -- don't know how I will concentrate at work tomorrow. Might be an impossible feat. I will have to edit my work carefully lest I make a costly mistake.

A few years ago I rented points from someone on the board for Aulani and the transaction went very well (she even got me my preferred room, which was amazing -- 1 bedroom pool view but facing the ocean). I had her book right at the 7 month mark so we got the room we wanted. I'd recommend it. For GF I'd guess you'd have to be ready to book at the 11 month mark.

Got my flights done. Paid for the AS flight because it was just under 200 for the one way non stop but they wanted 20k in miles, no thank you. Used 39k DL on the way back for comfort +, probably not the best but the only good prices for cash or miles was in the evening and I need to leave in the morning. Decided to connect in SLC instead of ATL or LAX because it'd get me home earlier and had a shorter layover, also I feel like LAX is too far south for connections up here. Of course I didn't look at the PP lounges until after I booked and I see there's nothing in SLC. Oh well, only have an hour anyway. I still need to upgrade to the CSR so I put all this on my CIP since I'm still meeting spend and I'm meeting a realtor to see about buying another investment property :rotfl2:

I've rented VGC from someone on this board. It all went very smoothly. I gave the owner a list of unit numbers to request and we got the most amazing theme park view of Mickey's Wheel. I did it pretty close to the 11 month mark.

I've also tried requesting through David's DVC Rental and DVC Rental Store less than 7 months in advance, with no luck. I tried DVC Rental Store first because they don't charge you to check availability. They actually found something 4 months in advance, but I was naive back then and didn't jump on it. Think I got cold feet and didn't respond until the next day - of course it was gone. So then I decided David's method is actually better. They charge you $119 to check availability, but if there's something they just book it. If nothing, then they refund. They respond quickly and refund was quick as well.

I am considering having DH apply for the Hilton biz using my referral. Do we have till midnight for the current offer?

We wouldn’t have booked it anyway if it was nonrefundable. I think I would feel more comfortable in my own home. Our county (brevard) is also in the state of emergency. Luckily, our house is pretty new (only 5 years old). The front of our house doesn’t need shutters because those windows and doors are hurricane tested. I plan to move all of our lanai furniture and grill into our garage. Our neighbor also said to fill our bathtubs with water for flushing the toilets.

As a side note, Dh and I went on a walk tonight and people were already putting up their shutters. I guess just so they don’t have to worry about it later. We may put ours up tomorrow

We always rent a car. It is one of the non negotiables for my husband. And the reality is that it really is so much easier to have it. I always rent through Costco (check back frequently) and always do Alamo. Alamo is usually the cheapest and it's Fast Break program means you skip the counter. It is also nice because you pick out which car you want in the reserved category. From baggage to pulling out of the garage it is usually tops 20 minutes.

Keep checking as it changes constantly.

You can do it! I was nervous to rent a car when it was just me and one of the girls but it was worthwhile. Getting there is fairly easy and once there driving is not hard. Parking will be right by the buildings at Art of Animation.
thank you! Thats perfect info.

We have rented points with David's and had a great experience. We've also rented from individuals on the rent board here on the DIS.

Goodbye soon to “best ever” Surpass offer. I’m still having FOMO. But at least it’ll be over soon. 😆
Remind me about this. Maybe DH needs it. Ends tonight? We have one huge bill after the other these days and no MSR. Next up...new dishwasher.

Yeah we don’t have flood insurance. Our neighbor said she’ll tell us the name of hers because she thought they got their’s like 2-3 days before a hurricane. Dh doesn’t think we need it because we’re not in a flood zone but I feel like we need to still get it
My cousin is not in a flood zone and did not have flood insurance. His brand new house flooded during Harvey. They got some money from Fema and donations from their church and friends. But so much money came out of their pocket as all their flooring, cabinetry (kitchen and baths), walls, trim, and lots of furniture was completely ruined. Their flood insurance was only $200 and they hadn't taken it🤦‍♀️

I've been debating this offer. We have plenty of bills right now and without a MSR. I may go for it. I'm still so on the fence if I need this card or if it is FOMO. I just need a place to put all my spend right now!
