It's time to figure out this uniform stuff. So DS's polos are school specific and so far he has 6 of them. Is that sufficient? Or should I order 4 more so he has enough for 2 weeks in case I ever get really lazy with laundry. He has to wear the polos every day except for the dress-up days that will required him to be in his oxford, tie and jacket. Any recommendations? The spend would towards DH's HH Biz MSR.

When DD had uniforms I think we kept around 6 "everyday" and 2 "chapel day" shirts. Not quite two weeks so I knew I couldn't slack on laundry too long, but enough for account for ink/pizza sauce/kicked under the bed shirts :)

@chattadisser -- great point about uniform resale-that helped a lot

My oldest DD wears a uniform to school and I think you're fine with the 4 polos. If your DS is anything like her, he'll wear each one multiple times before it "needs" to be washed. I used to try and get on her about it and now I'm just like maybe being the stinky kid is what you deserve, why should I shell out more money when you don't care? Do they do a used uniform sale? I got most of her stuff that way. We're 3 years in and this year I just bought 2 skirts and the rest carry over.
Thanks. They had a used uniform sale but we were on vacation when they had the sale. I took him to the uniform store so he could try everything on rather than guessing online. Thank goodness because I would have guessed wrong. I held off on the cold weather attire and just got the basics so he could start school while we figure it all out. Why they went with white polos is beyond me!

I know this thread moves really fast, but can someone help me with timing for my DH's chase apps? His last chase card was CSP on 5/11. I now want him to apply for CIP (with support link from me). 90 days would be on August 9. He will also need a new Hyatt chase card in hand before 11/15. But 90 days from 8/9 is November 7, which is cutting it very close. Are the 90 days set in stone? If I had to try earlier than 90 days on one of them, which should it be?

Have him apply for the CIP now. If he applied for the Hyatt 60 days after that he should be fine. 90 days is recommended for business cards, 60 days is fine for a personal. Just make sure overall credit limits low enough. (Chase looks at overall limits business and personal).

That was my thought with the 6. I have a spare, just in case, I don't get to laundry. Luckily, it seems like they don't need to wear their dress clothes that frequently. Next school year will be an oxford, tie and blazer every day.

A lot of mine have been dropping lately!

I was surprised to see mine drop again! I booked it at around 9400 miles round trip. It dropped to around 8200 a month or more ago and I got that refunded. I'd been checking more and it had been sitting pretty consistently around 10k round trip, but now dropped to 7300 round trip!

Everyone check your Amex offers. I just got 20% back on my insurance bill maxed at 85 dollars. It was on Hilton biz.

I have to say I'm glad I didn't get this offer because I just charged my $440 Geico bill to my Hilton Biz last night and would've been HOT if that offer showed up today. :rotfl2:

I researched this for our HI flights but my understanding is that the 25k rt is on delta booked via Korean. Korean (domestic) booked on delta is 37.5k ow. We ended up going AA via BA out of west coast, 26k pp rt economy (LAX-LIH). There is a transfer bonus now from Amex to BA (40%-50%) so that might be a good option. No UR or MR transfer to Korean just Marriott.

Ah ha, I understand now. I've tried to look at Korean's website to see if I can pull anything up, but it won't even let me search from my city. Every time I search RIC to HNL it says "the same region cannot be selected as airports for arrival and departure." I looked at AA and some of their transfer partners for our flights, but all of the AA flights are pretty bad from the east coast. It seems like my best option for flights out there is United. I checked Hawaiian, but we'd have to drive to DC and fly out of DCA, and then we'd still have to connect somewhere else. We can fly United out of RIC with one stop and be there.

I think 6 is fine. Dd usually only wears hers once and throws them in the wash (she has maybe 10 shirts but prefers the fit of some of the ones that are the older style). But I usually do at least 1 load of wash during the week (usually at least 2). The bottoms are the problem -- this year the school implemented yet another new policy (2nd new policy in 2 years) and we had to buy all new bottoms. After 13 years of uniforms she said she is going to wear sweat pants every day in college! She is not a fan of uniforms!

Guys I'm such an idiot. I just want to cry, I didn't book my companion pass and now the flight is sold out. Our trip is Saturday. I can't believe this happened. The flight from Tulsa to St. Louis is sold out. I book myself another flight for 29K points, please pray the other flight opens up. Any way to be put on the wait list?
I’m sorry you’re stuck in this situation. I don’t have any advice but I can totally understand how it happened. I’m so anal about checking my SW flights constantly to make sure they are all still there because when I’m making changes or adding companions it’s so easy to miss a step!

I agree with @kmc8826 with one reservation. As long as he hasn’t had a lot of cards prior to that CSP On 5/11. Also this isn’t just about Chase cards - you want to pay attention to all recent personal cards.
Guys..... why is @Lain apologizing.... are we supposed to be begrudging him for doing his own stuff when he's already here being awesome in a bunch of his spare time? :rotfl2:

Lain we expect you to just sit in your parents' basement staring at a computer screen like @SouthFayetteFan from now on.

:rotfl2:

PS. You guys are both awesome!
Ahem - I sit in MY OWN basement I’ll have you know!!

Yeah, the uniform thing is one of DS's least favorite aspects since he loves his UA and wears it every day. I think I am going to give the 6 a try and since they make the shirts right on the spot, I always just go pick up a couple more. Plus the fact that DS is just growing like a weed! We measured him this morning and he has grown an inch in a month!

Yeah, hold off on the cold weather items to see which ones are "in". At my DD's school some of the school approved winter gear (school hoodies, pullovers) are "boys" and some are "girls". I have no idea who decides this, they're all Nike so its not like some look like girls and some look like boys. In the beginning everything I suggested was for the wrong sex. And I agree with you on the white shirts. DD has a choice between either red or white polos and she chooses the white every time. And these are the ones that get pit stains on them :scared:
@*WDW*Groupie* has a point, some items/styles will become favorites and others will go by the wayside. In the beginning its a bit of a crapshoot.

I did this same upgrade at the beginning of the year. My anniversary is this month from my original card, and my AF posted. I'm assuming that since the AF has posted my benefits have restarted and I'm going to buy another $75 giftcard to get that credit once I see my reward points post.

That would tick me off too!
I'm guessing December for you too! I am keeping it, and I was told the perks reset the day I upgraded, so July 30. Haven't used the card for anything that qualifies yet to know for sure if that's true but I think so. I haven't seen the 2nd AF or the anniversary points yet.

Thanks for the responses! I'm leaning towards taking the upgrade but think I'll mull it over another day or two to be sure.

Also some other good churning news to report - my DH was approved for the BoA Premier card! :banana:SUB of 50k points (worth $500), $100 travel credit (calendar year), $100 TSA pre-screen credit, for $3k MSR and $95 AF. He was getting very offended as it took around two weeks for him to be approved. We have about $9k in expenses coming up for some work we need done outside so was glad he got this card. DH also has platinum status with BoA so he should get a pretty good return on the spend. He did say this is his last card for awhile though. Not sure if we'll save the $500 for travel or just use it to offset some of the expenses but either way we'll take it!

Welp, looks like SO is banned from signing up for new Serve and BlueBird cards. one of his cards got shut down in May, but I managed to get him three more Serve cards before then. I went to get him another Serve card and 5 BlueBird cards but he was denied. I did get myself 3 BlueBird cards. (ill get more later this week) I think when we run out of cards ill ask my dad/grandparents if I can use their info to get more cards with.

Thank you!

I think I'll go through a fake booking w Lufthansa to see if I can add a United number during the process---thanks!

And that 's why I asked here because searching/reading FlyerTalk was making me

I want the flights to credit my United account and I want to choose my seats in advance :upsidedow

You can put your United number in if you book the flight through Lufthansa, you'll just earn miles differently than if it was a United flight. Here's the partner details page:
https://www.united.com/ual/en/us/fly/mileageplus/earn-miles/airline-partners/lufthansa.html
I haven't looked into it in a while, but when I was checking it out for AA there was a whole chart to check for what percentage you'd earn based on the fare class of the ticket and the partner it was booked on. Have no idea if they still go that way but it was a rabbit hole :) (United sounds a little easier to work out. EDIT: was wrong, I just opened of the ticket number sections and I see said fare chart :p ) However, after ending up with dribs and drabs of miles in various accounts, I decided even at a reduced earning rate I'd rather earn in a single currency. I have 4k of BA Avios I have no idea what to do with from a flight I booked years back and wasn't thinking when I added my BA number rather than making an AA account. At the time they had already merged with US Air and eventually those miles would have been combined with my US Air miles and we could have actually booked a flight!

I didn't realize a gift card would count!

I've decided it's a keeper for both of us unless it needs cancelled to get a new CP. The upgraded boardings will go twice as far the rest of this year and next year with DH flying so much!

I just booked the Hyatt Centric in Times square. Have you stayed there?

We stayed there a few years ago and really enjoyed it. Our room was much quieter than when we stayed at the Hilton Times Square. We enjoyed going to the rooftop for a drink one night. At the time, my DH had status and we were able to get free breakfast in the restaurant on the first floor, but that may have changed since then. Enjoy!!
