I have it also and thought it was some sort of dating site that I have no need forI swear I have that on every single Amex card. I've never even heard of it.

I think 6 is fine. Dd usually only wears hers once and throws them in the wash (she has maybe 10 shirts but prefers the fit of some of the ones that are the older style). But I usually do at least 1 load of wash during the week (usually at least 2). The bottoms are the problem -- this year the school implemented yet another new policy (2nd new policy in 2 years) and we had to buy all new bottoms. After 13 years of uniforms she said she is going to wear sweat pants every day in college! She is not a fan of uniforms!
Yeah, the uniform thing is one of DS's least favorite aspects since he loves his UA and wears it every day. I think I am going to give the 6 a try and since they make the shirts right on the spot, I always just go pick up a couple more. Plus the fact that DS is just growing like a weed! We measured him this morning and he has grown an inch in a month!
Yeah, hold off on the cold weather items to see which ones are "in". At my DD's school some of the school approved winter gear (school hoodies, pullovers) are "boys" and some are "girls". I have no idea who decides this, they're all Nike so its not like some look like girls and some look like boys. In the beginning everything I suggested was for the wrong sex. And I agree with you on the white shirts. DD has a choice between either red or white polos and she chooses the white every time. And these are the ones that get pit stains on them
@*WDW*Groupie* has a point, some items/styles will become favorites and others will go by the wayside. In the beginning its a bit of a crapshoot.
The insurance offer is for Business cards so I wouldn't hold out hope on the EDPs
I also got it on the BBP and Spg/Marriott Biz. Hubby didn't see it on his BBP or Hilton Biz. I wonder if part of it might be he used an insurance offer already on his BCE this year. I got that 10% one last year and he didn't, then when it came out again earlier this year he was targeted and I wasn't. Maybe now that's it's been >6 months I got targeted again
The Nov date is throwing me a bit. We don't have car ins renewal until Jan so we don't even get the proposal by then. I can prepay my life insurance and got mildly excited and then remembered that my life insurance is the one thing in our lives that doesn't take AmEx. Might give them a call anyway and see if I can slip it in.
Probably easier than trying to explain to the car ins company why I want them to hold onto a few hundred bucks for a couple months in advance of renewal.
Thanks. Everyone has such excellent advice! All excellent advice - uniforms do simplify things in some ways, but there are still so many quirks. Which kind of shoes are the "right" version of the approved shoe, which version of the shirt is better - at my daughter's school, the 8th grade boys were allowed to wear belts in different colors, which was a big thing. The logo on the polos used to turn pink if you bleached them - some of the guys would wear them that way (then get told they needed to get a new shirt). Getting a few things and then seeing what he needs is a good idea.
I was super grumpy because they changed the rules for DD after 7th grade, and the girls all had to get new skirts. Originally they said they would grandfather the old style, but then changed their mind and I had to buy new ones for just her last year. And none of the girls ever wore the pants uniform option- the style they chose was unisex, or something, and did not fit right on any girl that was female-shaped. So lots of freezing knees in the winter (because almost everyone wore the socks instead of the tights).
Now she's back at public school and can wear whatever - she still mostly opts for skirts (but really likes being able to wear sweatpants if she feels like it.)
All right...I'm going to wait the full 90 days before the CIP and maybe another 60 before the Hyatt. That should give us plenty of breathing room.As long as you’re comfortable with the pacing he’s at then I’d do what you feel is best. It’s always better to adhere to the longer timelines prior to applying for business cards vs personal cards.
LOL y’all. I just called Bonbon to complain about the Marriott stay and all the construction this weekend. First of all I think it was the customer service rep’s first day on the job. I explained the situation to her and said I was pretty disappointed to have paid $1200 to not have beach access and 24 hour construction going on.
She offered me 1,000 points. Not 10,000. ONE THOUSAND. I laughed and told her to have a supervisor call me.
I announced it a couple days ago. I'll maybe use it after the freedom quarter. And I can't recall if I saw this AmEx offer mentioned, but I got one for 400 MR points for a gas purchase 40+, up to 3x, expires 11/1.
Not quite as nice as the one last year which looks like it was 500 MR for a $35+ purchase, but I know what I'm using after Q3 ends. My poor Discover it Chrome card just can't catch a break this year. I don't think I've used it once with all these gas quarters!
I think that given your time constraints, this a very sensible plan. All right...I'm going to wait the full 90 days before the CIP and maybe another 60 before the Hyatt. That should give us plenty of breathing room.
LOL I would have been like so you are basically offering me $8 LOL
I tried to add DS as employee when I applied too and it was rejected, but after I had my card I was able to go into my account and add him.Persistence pays off! Finally, after weeks and weeks approved....drumroll please....the Barclay Aviator Biz! That was the hardest card ever to get!
Also, I had tried to make DS employee when I applied but he was rejected for not being old enough. So DH will have an employee card coming.
It’s actually only a 35k a night hotelI told her she was offering me 1/8th of the value of Marriott’s cheapest point stay and that this was a 50k a night hotel. She said she could only offer 500-1000 points. She opened a case and said someone would call me. The thing is I really wouldn’t be that mad about it since I know beach replenishment is something that needs to happen, but the hotel CLEARLY waited until I was within the non refundable cancellation period to tell me. If they had just been honest up front about it, I would have made other plans but at 3 days out from my stay it was too late.
