PC'd a CIP to CIC just in time for Staples this week. Lets see if I can do @speedyfishy volume this week ;-)

I had a nightmare last night I went to Walmart and they told me I can only load at the money center. My friendly cashier was there and told me a memo went out. I walked over to the money center and the lady that gives me problems was there. I was so upset I had to drive to the Walmart that is 20 mins away not 10 lol

Amex just notified me that I will be getting another free night cert for my Biz in 8-12 weeks! Yay! Plus I should get the notification for my Lux card night fairly soon also. I wish they came like the Chase one's do, right on card anniversary date.

My Chase Marriott Premier Plus (whatever Bonboy “B” card it’s now called) turns 1 this week. Since Chase promptly deposits the FN cert on the cardmember anniversary, I’m expecting another 35k FN soon. I have another one sitting in my account, and 2 being used for an upcoming stay at the Residence Inn in Anaheim when we go down to Disneyland this month. The Residence Inn is now a Cat 6/50k night hotel, but the SpringHill Suites right next door (and built at the same time) is still a Cat 5/35k night hotel. I’m very tempted to cancel my Residence Inn reservation to get my Bonbon points back and rebook at the SpringHill Suites with all FN certs!

Your subconscious is warning you either you need to take a break because you’re in too deep or you need to hit it harder while the gettin’s good.

It was a struggle for me to use the points versus my existing certificates. By December I'll have 4 of the 35's and one of the 50ties. I'm probably going to try to extend the 50k to try and get 2 nights together somewhere. I'll burn 2 of the 35's in November and February and then have 4 of the 35's for a July beach visit. (Two more come in May and June.)

If you would be satisfied with the Springhill versus the Residence Inn, I say do it as the certificates are easier to get than the points. In future I may be forced to use points to get what I want - ie 50k or higher rooms in NYC, so I'm in conserve mode. I'll probably never get another Marriott bonus unless I can get younger daughter to apply for me.

Edit: your other option is split stay.

Did my fast passes this morning for our October trip. Got space, splash and big thunder mountain plus Haunted Mansion. Got Tower of Terror and Rock n roller coaster plus star tours for Hollywood Studios. Plan to do 6am EMH to ride Toy Story. I did see evening Slinky Dog fastpasses available but we’ll be heading to the airport for our evening flight at that time.

For Hollywood was it just the Toy story rides as Tier 1s?

I took advantage of this offer for DH last September. It was only worth it for me then b/c we could get the SW GC with the airline credit. If that had been dead I wouldn't have done it.
I have found ways to use the Saks credits, so that was fine. DD used the uber credits, but that didn't help me at all. We haven't done the GE, but maybe I should set DH up for it since it is free. I haven't even used a PP lounge, much less a centurion due to where we fly to/from. I am going to find a use for the points but not sure what for. ATM they are just hanging out til I need them. I have some ideas for them, but nothing solid. Sounds like you may be in a similar spot. If there is another personal card you could use to take this spot, I'd not feel pressured to do the amex offer unless you have a solid use for the MRs.

I really think I'm going to skip this offer for now. It would be worth it if I could get SW gift cards with the travel credit but with that perk taken away it just isn't worth it to pay that $550 fee right now. It might be worth it if we didn't have GE or PP access. I have had the CSR for years and hadn't used the lounge access, this summer we used it 4 times including the meal credits for $28 a person. Love that perk now, in Denver the credits covered dinner for 4 of us.

*******

I think I've narrowed it down to two.

1. CIC for DH. This would be $750 towards travel once transferred to my CSR.

2. Try for CIP #2 for DH. I'm a little risk averse so this makes me kind of nervous. I'd refer him from my account so we'd end up with 100,000 points so 1,500 through the Chase portal. He doesn't have an EIN so we'd have to use his SS # again. Any advice on if this will work?

I'm in the same position of valuing points over certs, and conserving points when I can. Certs will come around every year, but I doubt I'll be able to get another bonus after picking up 5 of the Starriott cards within a year (just the Ritz Stone shy of completing the Infinity Gauntlet!) and continuing to hold the cards I have. (Unless I upgrade the MPP to the Ritz, then use a slot to apply for the Boundless and forget to include my Bonbon number. Endgame worthy loophole to get all 6 pre-merger cards! Or downgrade the Brilliant once the 50k FN cert deposits and hope my legacy SPG will get targeted for an upgrade bonus, since it doesn't seem to be happening as long as I hold the Brilliant.) Certs are also capped (and even more limited when peak pricing is introduced), whereas points are flexible for whatever higher end redemption I'd want. Needless to say, I'm comparing the Residence Inn and SpringHill Suites right now.

@DisneyMandC and anyone else with Sept trips: apparently a bunch of FoP FP's just opened up for the month. I was able to grab FoP for 8:50 am on our AK day (9/27)! I was even able to edit it to move up the time, then move up our Dinosaur time. So excited! Now I just need SDD and SDMT....

Quoting myself to say I was able to get SDMT this morning in the morning of our MK day! The only one left to try for is SDD! If it doesn't open up we'll just ride before close or at the super early RP. Or maybe both. :):):)

I got my HHBiz Priority Pass card in the mail today. How does that work since I already have the regular pass from my CSR? Can I somehow add this to my current account? Or do I make a separate account just for it? Not likely we’ll be able to use it next week at MCO, but just in case we get delayed or whatever. I’m traveling with my 3 kids plus 1 bonus DD. So 5 of us total and I’m the only one with PP. Would I be able to get all 5 of us in?
Can't remember if you got and answer, but you can't add it to your CSR account, have to make a new one for it.

Possibly could get all in but I'm not fully sure, haven't even gotten to use ours yet :) I think technically you're not supposed to use more than one at once, but possibly sometimes in practice is different? Hopefully others can chime in.

I am on CIP #3 for me; Cip #2 for DH. I have two open CIPs right now. All of our CIPs are on SSNs with the same business types. No self-referrals either, We refer to each other. Knowing about the CIPpy cup, I would go for #2. Pace yourself so there is at least 3 months since last Chase approval. Also look at CLs and make sure across all with Chase you are under 50% of household income.

If the CIPpy cup is still there when DH is 3 months out, I will be going for that. I am not sure on my CIP#4 especially with my 2 open CIPs. For some reason that seems risky to me. I am not sure if there are any CIP#4 DPs with at least 2 currently open. Anyone?

Do I need to change anything with his name? Add a middle name or middle initial. Use shortened first name?

I'm trying to figure out if I want to use any vouchers/GCs for our flights coming up since DH is so close to A List preferred. 3200 RRs to go, and his work trips usually book anytime or biz select fares, so the least he's ever earned for a work trip is 4500 RRs, usually it's 7k to 9k. I think I'd rather have those doubled than my anytime fares I would use the voucher/GCs on down the road :)

Thanks for the reply! I hadn’t heard from anyone else on this. I was hoping maybe since the HHBiz membership is what, 10 visits? Maybe three of us could use 3 of those visits, then 2 of us be put on the CSR PP. Hopefully won’t matter, if everything runs on time! I just don’t know if that would work.

I just applied for the Barclay AA biz card. Application is "under review" -- they need additional from me. Said they will contact me at one of the numbers on my application. If they require paperwork I'm out of luck as we won't be back in the US until the 19th. Hopefully it's just a bunch of questions I can answer.

I received an alert from Life Lock that my credit has been pulled (which means I correctly input my SSN -- still not sure why I was rejected for a Serve card). I will update once I speak to someone at Barclays.

I'm definitely eyeing those 5-occupancy studios for 2020. We couldn't do that this trip cause my dd19 is going too so we are a fam of 6. We *hope* she is in the DCP starting in Jan and so for 9-mos, we'd only need a room for 5. The 2-bath is big for us so we will be looking for that for sure!
My crew loves Poly (my home) so when we're 6+ we tend to get 2 studios there and then I request connecting rooms. We've gotten our request each time. Four showers, four sinks, two toilets lol Our favorite longhouse is Tokelau, again I've gotten my request every time. Pretty sure a 2bedroom is fewer points, but if you wanted to try Poly as a family, that's how we do it.

Sometimes I think 5 in there would be tight, but you can always flip up the fold down bed during the day. We don't spend too much time in room anyway.

#2 will work, but just know that it works because Chase is not enforcing any 24-months restriction on the Ink cards even though such language is in the fine print. A lot of us have gotten #2, #3, but you have to access your own tolerance for risk. Of course, the reward on option 2 is much greater.

Do I need to change anything with his name? Add a middle name or middle initial. Use shortened first name?

Do not shorten names or use nicknames. If Chase can't reconcile the name on the application with his credit report, it will go to denial and/or you'll need to provide ID verification. Use full legal first name and last name (MI is fine too) for applicant and business if it's a sole proprietorship.

You could choose a slightly different business category to give yourself some plausible rationale that this new card is for a different biz.

We did actually stay in two studios there in 2016 and loved it! We had my aunt and uncle with us too so there were 8 of us. I think we’d be good with 5 in one room. We also are barely in the room.
