DH got the prettiest mailer (shiny pink!) for Discover in the mail today. "Check for pre-approved offers." We're not opening a Discover but I decided to check the link - why not? As a reminder, DH and I have our credit frozen for security purposes. I assumed the check would not work. All over the web page was the language "this does not impact credit; not a credit check." I filled out all the information and a new screen popped up that said "We can't determine your offers. REASON: Credit is frozen. Please unfreeze so we can run report" to something of that effect.

As worded... that would be a full credit check and will definitely ding a score. Perhaps it is just a soft pull for offers, but they need to change their wording. I thought I would share to those of you who might get these mailers and don't have frozen credit. I knew DH was at no risk here, but others might get duped.

I got that mailer last week. Filed it in the trash can.

How would I go about getting another CIP? I got the first one from my SSN and my “income” from selling various crap on eBay, craigslist, etc.

(Oh and DH is NOT a fan of the credit card game, so I wouldn’t want to get one in his name.)
That’s what the CIPpy cup is all about. You just apply for another one just like you did the first time. (I know this sounds crazy but that’s what all of us are doing right now - some people even have 3 or 4 of them!!). You literally apply for a 2nd one using your own referral link LOL!

I have a question for anyone on here that pays for a gym membership. Since we just moved here I’m looking for one to join but I’d really rather have one where someone tells me what to do. So I need some kind of classes, not just a bunch of treadmills like planet fitness (which is clearly our cheapest option). The two I’m interested in here seem way too expensive but they offer all classes and have trainers on site helping. The two prices are $98/month and $139/month. Do these seem extremely high to anyone else?

DH and I are huge OrangeTheory Fitness fans. I think we pay $139ish/month (each) for the unlimited membership. Worth every penny because otherwise I would do absolutely nothing!

Same SSN, “business name” (my name) and everything???

Joining in with @shairpdrh and @wendow...DH was approved for CIP (2/3) this morning! :cheer2:

CIP #1. 5/17. (Closed 4/19).
CIC. 5/18.
CIU. 8/18.
CIP. 4/19.
CIP. 7/19.

Other than first CIP (the OG) all 4 business cards currently open. He also has a CSR and Hyatt. For those with a reluctant P2 I have found the solution with this approval. Due to a fraud with Chase 2 years ago he has to call in...no automatic approval. That is such a huge hassle and is the explanation for the year gap between the Chase applications 5/17 to 5/18. At any rate, DH told me this past weekend he had a big purchase coming up...I said it was fine he could get it but not until he got the new card. I applied and when they sent the fraud notification statement to his account I wrote down the information for him last night and left it on the counter. I get back from running this morning and he is on the phone with Chase! This is the man who hates to call. He is barely awake; his eyes are still kind of shut. But he really likes stuff so he made the call. Either way more UR's coming our way. Take that Amex!

Those seem moderate to slightly high to me, but I live in DC. One completely bare-bones gym near where we live is $50/month with extra charges for trainers. One includes all the training you can handle for $240/month. I go to the gym at work, so it's subsidized by the agency and cheap for us ($25/month), but every trainer is $55/session, although classes are free.

You really just have to look at what each one offers and get what you want. A proper gym has been one of the best investments I've made in my health, and I'd pay more if it were necessary.

I pay about $125 a month for classes. I go every weekday, so roughly 20 times a month. It's worth it to me because I would not execise that much on my own.

For what you want nope. Gyms like PF can charge so little becauae they make money based on people paying and not going. They don't like me with my black card in there 3 to 5 days a week and using the hydro massage. A gym with trainers and classes that are always working with you charge more because they need the people to actually go and to pay for everything. Two totally different biz models so you can't really compare them. But PF does have group classes and you can cancel at any time so if the higher price doesn't work you can always try PF out and see how their trainers and classes are. They'll be small classes.

One last thing...I got the "old" United pjs and am in . I was so worried about getting the new, European slim fitting (the LAST thing I need after 2 weeks of eating...). TPG even had an article about it, lol.
I've already told DH he cannot have these after (he stole my BA First after leaving his on the plane and letting me lug around MY pjs around LHR . >:(

I work at a gym and we have both group fitness classes and trainers on the floor that give you a new plan every 6 weeks as part of the membership or you can opt to buy additional personal training sessions with them. Ours all have their BS in exercise science and additional certifications. The prices you quoted above are within a reasonable amount for a a package of personal training sessions.

I also did Orange Theory for a a while and despite my best efforts to hate anything trendy, I loved it! It’s the kind of thing where you will have to make appointments for each class with a coach. It’s HIIT style exercise and very high energy. I also like/hate that you pay for a number of classes per month and if you don’t use them you lose them. Forces you to stay accountable. It was also within the price you mentioned. Only reason I dropped my monthly membership was because were renovating and I wanted to minimize draft payments while we’re paying double rent/mortgage.

LOL. Pretty sure Lucky over at OMAAT also complained about the new style.

She has put the nursing program on hold for the time being b/c she's discovered she loves biology and may major in that instead. But if she pursues nursing, yes, she will have to get revaccinated. Her immune system is always struggling to keep up since she has a chronic illness. So, I'm not really surprised she doesn't have immunity even after being vaxed. They drew titers for MMR, Hep B, Varicella and something else (can't remember). She only showed immunity for MMR.

I majored in biology. Because biology is awesome. But then I couldn't figure out what to do with the degree and ended up going to nursing school after. :rotfl2:
