I am super terrified of people with shingles and chicken pox as I never had it growing up. I got the chicken pox vaccine as a kid.

Personal anecdote - I got chicken pox as a kid. I grew up in the era of allowing your kids around other kids with chicken pox so they all get it and get it out of the way, because outside of having bad itches it's not that bad for most kids. Look, Mississippi was a weird place, ok? My understanding is this idea is still pretty pervasive despite it being a bad idea.

I got shingles as an adult a few years ago, in my late 20s. It was unpleasant and painful, but I think I got lucky. I hear it's worse if you never had chicken pox though. I remember keeping a distance from my dad because he never had chicken pox or shingles in his life, and was too hard-headed to go get the vaccine.

I also grew up in a time and place where our moms purposefully exposed us to other kids when they had chicken pox so we’d go ahead and get them as a child rather than later in adulthood where there are more complications.

I had chicken pox at the end of 8th grade. Like you, It was itchy but not a big deal at all. I’ve not had shingles but most of my older relatives have and it seems awful.

I have some concerns about what happens to all these kids vaccinated today against chicken pox when they get older and their vaccines are no longer effective. Are they all gonna get chicken pox really awful?? My dd19 cannot get vaccines just for grins and we ran titers on her for nursing school and she does not have immunity to several diseases she was vaccinated for as a child, including chicken pox.

Instant approval x2 yesterday!

P1 CIP3
P2 CIP3

The CIPpy cup was aflowing!!!!!!

ETA: we’ve gotten instant approval on all 3 CIPS each. Lowered CLs WAY down before applying. I’m convinced that is key

Congrats!!! How long ago was your last Chase app? I’m not so patiently waiting to hit 90 days from my MDD on April 16. I did go in and lower P1 and P2 credit limits with chase across almost all cards. Knocked it down by at least $60K each. Hopefully that helps.

Also, did you close your other CIP before applying? CIP #1 is over a year old for me and I’m debating closing or product changing to CIC.

Congrats squared!! My dh is still sitting at 2 weeks. I lowered all his credit limits but we never get instant approval from chase so not really expecting that. However, his apps normally change to approved in about 12 hours so this feels like it’s taking forever :hourglass

How long does it normally take for Amex referrals to post? Just checked and my referral bonus is there! So the answer in my case was two days :) I referred myself to the Hilton Ascend via my HIlton biz, but I was planning on closing the Hilton biz in the next week or so. Now I'm wondering if I should go ahead and pay the AF and wait until I get the SUB for the Ascend and referral bonus and then cancel. Amex will prorate an AF, correct? Their language when I was approved kind of scared :scared: me that my history of opening/closing cards could mean that I still might not get the SUB if I close the Hilton biz before getting the Ascend SUB even though I didn't get the pop-up. Thoughts? I would hate to think I wasted a 5/24 spot if I don't get the 125k HH points.

I asked a few days ago but don't think I ever saw an answer, if someone responded and I missed it I apologize for the repeat question.

I have only done MR self-referrals and those have posted in a day or two after approval.

You can’t get shingles if you’ve never had the chicken pox. It’s a dormant virus. A person with shingles can in very rare cases give that person chicken pox though

All 3 CIPS are open
Me:
CIP1 9/18 (will close in sept)
CIP2 4/1/19 (open)
CIP3 7/1/19

DH
CIP 1 11/18 (open)
CIP2 4/1/19
CIP 3 7/1/19

I did wait the 90 day between the last 2 apps

This worries me too. My oldest had chicken pox (at age 4--all he wanted to do was lay on the couch and watch Disney movies--we had to keep renewing the VHS tapes from Blockbuster!) but the others got the vaccine. I'm hoping that the drug companies are on this, since an entire generation of kids has now just gotten the vaccine.

If you want to search back for this post in the future - just search my name and "release". You could also bookmark this comment on the new DIS somehow (or so I heard).

Great, thank you for this. I just checked yesterday morning and it was still July 10th. I (and DH) have to work early that day so I wrote everything down that I needed for my father to try to get for me. Had a long list of RR#, passwords, which airports, how many miles I was willing to pay at each, etc. :rotfl2: Aug 8th will work much better, I can do it myself. He's a good sport though. :) I'm not usually so paranoid about it, but from experience, our Feb vacation week can be really high. I've always found the best deals the day of release.

I did not have any of these childhood diseases. No measles or chickenpox. People used to say it's going to be awful when you get it as an adult. So far I haven't contracted it, but my son had chicken pox so I've been around it. He had a very mild case compared to the neighbor kid that I 'think' he probably got it from.

Delta is revamping their international economy to the tune of hot towels, peach bellinis and upgraded meals (supposedly bigger entree dishes with a mix & match approach to appetizers & entrees). Rolls out this Nov.

Oh yeah?! United sees that revamp, and raises Delta improved complimentary snacks on all domestic economy flights effective yesterday! Passengers now get to choose between Byrd’s maple wafers, pretzels, stroopwafels, and of course the classic knuckle sandwich!

I was exploring the Chase Luxury Hotel and Resort Collection last night for our upcoming weekend trip to Las Vegas. Do I need to pay with a Chase card? Looks like payment isn't due until I get to the hotel, so I was hoping to use an Amex offer combined with another card I'm MSRing.

In a related note, does anyone know with the Caesars Rewards Diamond $100 dining and 2 free show tickets if you need to be staying at a Caesars property to get those?

How weird you haven't been charged the AF yet. DH applied Friday, got his card and verified it today and the $95 AF is already posted!
It did post late last night, but after the first statement cut.
SUB is pending for CIP #2! Met MSR on Friday but charges were taking forever to post. My statement end date is the 6th. Hoping to try for #3 in August!
I cant wait to see mine pending!!

And on a non churning note, my TGIFridays rewards account had most of it's points stolen from it :-(

You can close or PC your CIP #1 but you don’t have to. My dd was approved for her CIP #2 90 days after opening CIP #1. There are DPs of people having 3 open.

I have 3 CIPs open -- can't close the first one until September. As another DP I didn't lower any CLs with Chase before I applied and my CSR has a $35,000.00 limit. I really need to lower it.

Just received CIP#3 yesterday and already put $300.00 on it (annual check-up for the dog plus health certificate for travel). Now that I'm not taking the big trip I was supposed to in July I won't reach the MSR until late August.
