Not to be rude, but considering what you've already said about her, at some point you've got to suck it up, deal with it and get your but in the car because your husband is in the hospital. I realize everyone's pain threshold is different and mine is higher due to having to deal with it since a car accident in hs, but I missed 0 work, drove myself and still curled though I didn't run and sweep as much because it hurt, when I bruised my tailbone. You want to take about being uncomfortable no matter what you do, sit, stand, lay down etc. She sounds like a spoiled brat. Does she work? Because they're going to need an income especially since from what you said earlier they probably don't have much savings. I am glad he's moving to rehab, that's a good sign.
You are spot on. I could write you a novel just on all the ridiculousness with the gallbladder. She is... I went away and lost my train of thought here. Will have to post again if I remember :)

Even her job is a drama. She is a paralegal or legal assistant, honestly not sure which, and was given a job at an office where her mom was an assistant already... then her mom moved offices so she did too shortly after, because everyone is so mean to her. That was a few years back. Late last year her mom retired, and everyone is just so mean to her at the new office too! So she recently got a new job at a different office, but the commute is just terribly long and unfair to her. It never ends. We've really felt that she's been trying to set it up so she no longer has to work and BIL has to support her, so I'm not sure what will happen going forward. She hasn't been to work since her surgery... on June 8th.

As another anecdote, she has an older sister who is divorced. This sister was booted from two or three different apartments for her cleanliness (or lack thereof) before the parents just started paying for a housekeeper instead of having to deal with moving her again. So I think that's a good example of how the family operates.

Rehab sound like progress. He probably had IgG infusions, usually it’s 5 days worth. They probably have a plan for nutrition at rehab. I have seen so many people struggle and fail because they refused a feeding tube. People think it’s the end when it can be a key to recovery, and can be removed later. (PS I also have experience with this on a personal level as my dad had a feeding tube, so feel free to PM).
They did a plasma exchange first. Now they have to wait about a month before they will do the IgG infusions. We didn't really get the reason, but I think that is mostly because information is getting passed along... MIL has a decent grasp on medical stuff, but FIL and DH do not so when FIL tries to pass along things to DH...

I didn't want to bring up how she was raised because you never know but I thought it. Amazing and I totally get why you don't want to count her as a sil.

Update-Citibank had put a "hold" on my new AAdvantage business platinum MC after I received it and used it a few times. I had spoken to 4 people at Citibank and they all told me different things and then after speaking to a "manager", she said I would have to wait to get a letter from them. Yesterday I called because I never received the letter. When I called yesterday I spoke to a rep and she transferred me to the "fraud" dept (why didn't the other 4 reps do that?). I spoke to a rep there and she asked me some questions and reactivated my card. She sent me a code to my business/personal cell phone, I told her what it was and she released the hold. Apparently, the reason the hold was put on was because the 3rd time I used the card I purchased a Disney gc for $230 for a co-worker that our office had collected for. She advised this transaction put an "alert" on my account. I am going to send Citi an email to advise them that the 4 people I had spoken to last week were clueless and could not give me any information on why my card got declined or how to fix it.

I have a question about stacking Amex offers. If I add two similar offers to the same card, do I get both Amex offers just by spending the amount for the higher offer? In all my years of having Amex cards I've never had this opportunity come up.

Say it's spend $500+ get $100 back, but there's a separate offer offer spend $300+ get $60 back, and both offers are added to the same card. If I spend $500, do I get $160 back? Or do I have to spend $500 + $300 to get $160 back?

Remind me...
AF posted for CSR yesterday and statement closes today. I have until when to spend the $300 TC (which should be reset tomorrow) and downgrade? I can't decide between Freedom and FU. I have a Freedom already and we just hit the max quarterly on it with a few weeks to spare, though I could have tried harder.

And, how does that work, I should book a refundable SW ticket, wait until it credits and when should I cancel that?

Back in January I converted my 7 night Marriott cert and attached it to a stay in Boulder for July. This Boulder trip somehow turned into a Yellowstone trip so we finally cancelled the cert last night and it now expires next January. Ughhh, have zero idea how I am going to use that thing. And I am supposed to leave in a little over a week for Salt Lake City/Yellowstone and I am still telling DH we might cancel. :rolleyes1 I only have about half of the nights booked. Yellowstone/Grand Teton and Jackson are booked, the rest I think we should have no problem getting. I have serious commitment issues. lol I am feeling really bad for leaving DD18 home alone for that long. She was home alone while we were in Clearwater and she hated it. And she was only home alone for a few days as DS was there for part of the time. This time will be 12 days. @Albort how did your Yellowestone trip go?

On another note DD21, who has been home only since Saturday, leaves super duper early in the AM for Australia. What a life. I did somehow by coincidence time our flights so that we both arrive at PIT at about the same time if we do the Yellowstone trip. Did not even realize that till after we booked, I just took the best flight. So that is a plus for us going I guess.

I also grew up in a time and place where our moms purposefully exposed us to other kids when they had chicken pox so we’d go ahead and get them as a child rather than later in adulthood where there are more complications.

I had chicken pox at the end of 8th grade. Like you, It was itchy but not a big deal at all. I’ve not had shingles but most of my older relatives have and it seems awful.

I have some concerns about what happens to all these kids vaccinated today against chicken pox when they get older and their vaccines are no longer effective. Are they all gonna get chicken pox really awful?? My dd19 cannot get vaccines just for grins and we ran titers on her for nursing school and she does not have immunity to several diseases she was vaccinated for as a child, including chicken pox.
I was one of those moms. My kids are 29, 27, and 24. The first 2 got chicken pox naturally, youngest I deliberately exposed to it when she was about 4. They were all very healthy children and I was not concerned about complications. I know vaccines wear off, I was vaccinated against rubella as a kid and had no immunity when I was pregnant. I have now had the 2 dose shingles vaccine so I'm hoping that works!

Great, thank you for this. I just checked yesterday morning and it was still July 10th. I (and DH) have to work early that day so I wrote everything down that I needed for my father to try to get for me. Had a long list of RR#, passwords, which airports, how many miles I was willing to pay at each, etc. :rotfl2: Aug 8th will work much better, I can do it myself. He's a good sport though. :) I'm not usually so paranoid about it, but from experience, our Feb vacation week can be really high. I've always found the best deals the day of release.
They may still move it earlier though, they did with the last release. I'm waiting to book accommodations until I get my Feb flights nailed down, so I'm bummed about it moving a month later.

Personal anecdote - I got chicken pox as a kid. I grew up in the era of allowing your kids around other kids with chicken pox so they all get it and get it out of the way, because outside of having bad itches it's not that bad for most kids. Look, Mississippi was a weird place, ok? My understanding is this idea is still pretty pervasive despite it being a bad idea.

I got shingles as an adult a few years ago, in my late 20s. It was unpleasant and painful, but I think I got lucky. I hear it's worse if you never had chicken pox though. I remember keeping a distance from my dad because he never had chicken pox or shingles in his life, and was too hard-headed to go get the vaccine.
See I don't want to get going on the pros/cons here of current medicine but the shingles are now prevalent in a way that was unheard back in the day when people just caught chickenpox 'in the wild' and usually as children. I know people in their teens getting shingles now.

You can’t get shingles if you’ve never had the chicken pox. It’s a dormant virus. A person with shingles can in very rare cases give that person chicken pox though

All 3 CIPS are open
Me:
CIP1 9/18 (will close in sept)
CIP2 4/1/19 (open)
CIP3 7/1/19

DH

I'm so jealous! I want more CIP happiness!

So, I had SUB on both mine an DH's Cap 1 Venture Card. I booked refundable SW flights and the credits have posted. Is it Ok for me to go ahead and cancel the flights or should I wait a certain amount of time to do that. Then can I just SM them to send a check or do we have to call?

They stack. Spend $500, that’ll qualify you for both the $500+ and $300+ offers, and you’ll get both $100 and $60 statement credits. Good deal!

Thank you AmEx for being slow to process on Dosh. Just got $6 for my Staples trip on Sunday. I split payment between two AmExs and one popped up fairly quickly but then saw nothing for the other and thought I missed out on the full $5. Well, notice of 3 bucks for the missing transaction is pending now so I beat the system
