Tomorrow is the first day to book hotels at Glacier NP (in the park) for July 2020. I have seen the hotels on Chase portal but I am going to go on the Xanterra site first, hopefully get my first picks, then see if on Chase since I can always cancel Xanterra. It is more important to me to stay in the park than be free. There are a few NPS fans on here. I'll let you know how it goes.

hope u post your trip report! thats another park my family wanted to explore too!

I’m new to the MR cards. I was looking at DH;s first Amex platinum statement. Where do I see MRs earned? I’m not seeing anything. I didn’t quite meet the MSR spend yet (only was open about 2 weeks prior to first statement close) but shouldn’t there be something earned for the spend so far? A large portion of the spend was for a tax payment. I’ve read some people having issues with that. Hopefully that won’t be the case!
Under Statements and activity, set the date range to current statement then click on any transaction and it will show you how many points were earned. In the rewards tab it will show you how many points you've earned total and that are pending. You don't actually get those points until the next statement closes provided you paid your bill on time. If for any reason you don't pay at least your minimum payment due you forfeit those points.

They had to shut the park down for a bit and send some lifeguards to the hospital to get checked out after guests complained they were getting shocked in the lazy river. Apparently there was some kind of short nearby. Kinda scary, and it didn't sound like management handled it well when guests complained they were getting shocked.

No life jacket needed. My DH doesn't usually get one.
Wow that’s scary. That doesn’t make me want to visit anytime soon. The water parks aren’t high on our priority list right now anyway. We have the two day tickets for sea world/BG that we can use and I want to go to universal once they get the hagrid coaster figured out

Hi everyone!

Another drive by post to say Hi! We are in the Orkneys today. I’ve posted a review of the Holiday Inn from yesterday :crazy2: and also a review of the Lynnfield which is where we are tonight on the hotel thread

We’ve been visiting some castles and some ruins. I told PlanePrincess that I’d like to live in a castle with turrets. He rolled his eyes at me.

Someone posted about using plastiq to pay their heloc... how does that work? Can I use a chase card or do I need amex or mc since it’s mortgage related?
Needs to be a MC.

How it works is as simple as it sounds though. Setup a payment to HELOC, then transfer funds from HELOC a day or 2 prior to your checking. Plastiq check pays down HELOC then pay the CC off from your checking :D

Ahem... so... if one was rejected hard by citi biz, what other MC options should one go for? I’m apparently only good enough for chase.

The Barclays business AA card is Mastercard as well. (Sorry, not familiar with the backstory so maybe you knew about that one already)

Off topic, but have you tried the Hyatt in Tahoe? I was going to try for a weekend in Carmel, but it's usually a day trip for us and then I thought about the one on the lake and it looks nice online, but I haven't stayed there. I'm debating between using up some points there and hoarding them for next year.

No. But which one? Aren’t there like two Hyatt’s up there, and one’s a timeshare? I’m wondering if you pick the timeshare whether there’ll be a timeshare presentation opportunity for points or a gift certificate.

I know just enough to know that Barclays is hard to get approved for... but may be worth a try!

I will gladly take all your tips and tricks for a trip to Scotland! DH and I are still trying to figure out where to take our 10 year anniversary trip. Which will have to be in year 11 as our anniversary was last week, ha! Our top 2 contenders are Scotland and Hawaii so basically opposite ends of the spectrum.

There is no 2 yr/24 month restriction on the CIP or its SUB.

Getting approved for subsequent CIPs requires only that you be under 5/24 and have made no other Chase apps in the previous 30 days (0/30).

Some other guidelines to increase your chance of approval are you should adequately space out your applications for cards that Chase can see from your credit report (personal cards from Chase and other issuers) or that Chase knows about because its their product (Chase personal and biz cards) -- ~3 months is recommended, but the point is to not appear risky like you're hurriedly applying for a bunch of new cards and will leave the banks holding the bag.

Also, keep your overall credit lines on your Chase personal and biz cards in check, less than 50% of the household income you use on your application and even lower the better. Chase is concerned about the amount of credit they've extended you because it's a factor of risk -- you could run up your cards for half of your family income and not be able to pay Chase back. Around 50%, their algorithm starts declining applicants of new credit with the reason that they've already extended you enough credit. Lower than that, and Chase is still feeling generous and your odds of automatic (if not instant) approval without recon increases. Therefore, you should proactively request Chase lower the credit limits on your cards to something that's more reasonable to what you need on that card, and for sock drawered cards reducing credit lines down to $500 or $1000 is fine.

Good luck!
I have been thinking about all this for long term. I just started on the churning path recently too. I lowered a few of my long term credit card lines before applying for my new cards. But how does this effect utilization? I don’t quite understand how to figure that out.

June update: just working on the MSR for my hilton bus. Signed up for my next bank bonus, and for those in AZ, FL, IL, IN, KS, MO, MN, and WI look into the BMO Harris bank bonus, up to $700. Does require setting up checking account with high DD requirement and money market account and keep 10,000 for 90 days but the payout should be well worth it.

July: plan to apply for the next CIP or early August, depending on how the spend goes, over 3 months on the last Chase app, so would be good anytime.

wanderlust is strong right now with no trips planned, but a couple hopefully in the wings, at least it is warm here and I've gotten some pool time recently. I hope everyone has a very enjoyable and safe holiday week!

I have only watch my Chase CLs...once the MSR is met unless it’s a card I will keep long term..like my CSR...I lower the cL to$1k...but I also pay my cards weekly so they don’t close with a high $ amount

Ah ok, I thought it was a good idea to lower some of my other cards because of how much CL I had out on them. Maybe that wasn’t a good idea, but I didn’t need that much open credit anyways. Hopefully that won’t effect my credit score.

I think your fine...I don’t like high CLs...but keep the 10k on my CSR and CFU everything else gets reduced to 1k

First, Chase doesn't care about the credit lines on cards issued by other banks, just their own. So lowering credit lines on cards from other issuers won't really increase your chances of automatic approval by Chase. Lowering credit lines on Chase cards seem to matter more for approvals of biz cards than personal cards because (1) with most of our "businesses" reporting only 4-figure revenue, and CIPs requiring a minimum credit line of $5k to open, approval will be tight; and (2) if you don't lower your Chase credit lines or don't lower them enough and get caught on the denial end of too much credit extended, then you're probably not likely to call recon to talk about your "business" and try to get credit reallocated after the fact, where you might not have the same reluctance on a personal card app. A denial means you need to wait 30 days and try again.

Second, consider which cards you're reducing credit lines on. Are they Chase personal cards or biz cards? Lowering credit lines on biz cards will have no effect on your credit utilization ratio because biz cards, their credit lines and balances are not reported on your credit reports and therefore don't factor into your score. When lowering your overall credit lines on your Chase cards, I'd start trimming your biz card credit lines first because you're doing this with an eye on applying for another biz card, so having too much credit available on your open biz cards may not look too good (e.g., why do you need more?). After finishing MSR, I lower my and DW's biz cards to $1k, $2k, and at most $5k CL. Lowering credit lines on personal cards will affect your credit utilization ratio because personal cards, their credit lines and balances are reported, so a reduction in your credit limit without a reduction on your balance will tend to lower your credit scores. But there are some mitigating factors. If you're doing this to increase your chances of approval on a new Chase personal card, that new card will come with a credit line that may more than make up the credit line(s) you cut. If you're doing this to increase your chances of approval on a new Chase biz card, then presumably you're shifting a considerable amount of spend from your personal cards (thus lowering your credit utilization ratio on the personal cards) to biz cards where credit utilization isn't reported. When I cut my CSR limit from $32k to $20k, I barely saw a blip in my credit score because I was putting so much of my spend on biz cards.

Hope this helps (and makes some sense).

You can be like the guy on house hunters a few weeks ago. He was adamant that thr house they get in TX have a turret. I think his wife thought he was nuts. I think only one of the three had a turret and I didn't see what they decided on so no idea if he won or not.
