Also trying to set up Serve account. In the app (green card) it says 6.95 monthly, free if direct deposit set up. Also says there is a fee for withdrawals except in-network ATMs. Is that right? I thought someone mentioned linking to bank account to transfer money, but is there a fee for that?

Have not looked into that at all. Do I get 1 cpp and then the 35% back? Might be a good option for the return flight if the GC doesn't credit.

Also, wanted to ask you about your Biz Green upgrade. Is your first Biz Plat still open?

Agree on birthday parties being expensive! Not to mention stressful! I'm glad DD chose the trip instead. :D

Yes. Pay with Points through Amex Travel is 1 cpp [for flights], but Southwest is not on the portal so you need to purchase the ticket on your Biz Plat first then call Amex Travel to apply MR against that purchase. If you have Southwest selected as your airline on the Biz Plat, you’ll get 35% of those points rebated back in about a month or so.

So assuming a 10,000 MR redemption, 3,500 (35%) MR rebated back makes the redemption net 6,500 MR (1.54 cpp).

Yes. My first Biz Plat is still open. It turns 1 year next month. I’ll be closing Biz Plat 1 once the AF posts in the next month and a half or so. Thinking of an upgrade?

Dosh dps:
1) bought bag of flour at Kroger with rose gold Amex. Got 5% back.
2) bought $25 Disney gift card with cf. no cash back.
3) bought $50 universal gift card with cf2. No cash back.
4) bought $100 visa gift card and two bags of caramel m&ms (don’t judge:) with rose gold Amex. 5% back.

I am loving the Dosh/Kroger deal right now. I have been going just about everyday. Everything has posted for me, but I have always bought something with the GCs. It even posted when I purchased gas at Kroger Fuel.

Thanks! :) For now, UR>MR to me, so this would be better than using URs. If the Southwest GC credits, then I'll buy another $100 to use up the Aspire credit. Pay the rest with the Biz Plat and call to apply MRs. If not, then the entire amount with the Biz Plat.

I'm thinking I want to jump into this Serve think as it sound kinda easy and I have a $5k spend I'd like to hit sooner than later. Plus it's summer and I'm a teacher w/ no kids every other week....so I got the time to play this game, LOL. Online it says the monthly fee for the green is $6.95/mo but as long as I have no money on the card it'll be nothing?

So once I get AA Citi Biz Card #2, I can hit up staples, and get the VGC (fee free) and then use those to load the serve and deposit that in my bank account and I'm good to go? Only Amex doesn't like this for a MSR, right? Citi is fine?

Going to see my parents in Northern Michigan in a month and a half (flying United--first time we've flown in a dozen years). May bring my dog to use up my amex platinum airline credit if the gift card situation doesn't improve. It will make my dad happy to have the granddog come with us:)

For the green Serve, the 6.95 monthly fee does not get taken out if your account balance is at 0. The trick is finding out when your monthly fee will be taken out. It is not necessarily at the end of the month. I opened my first Serve on 2/14 (online), and got hit with the monthly fee on 3/16. So maybe it's 30 days? Definitely leave yourself a buffer at that 30 day mark, meaning zero out your account balance a couple days beforehand and see when your monthly fee hits. It will show as "monthly fee" on your online Serve statement. See image below.

There is no fee to transfer money out of the Serve account into a linked bank account.

Amex doesn't like to see vgcs bought at Staples or OD/OM during your MSR. Citi is fine.

I've written about my experience with Serve over on Dischurners before, you might want to read more details there, from me and others.

:offtopic: Need help picking a spot in Colorado to spend a few days at the end of August. Have a work conference for 2 days in Denver. Looking for somewhere to spend the rest of the week. Want to look at mountains! a few easy hikes, other outdoor activities, general restful trip. Only requirement is that there is a Marriott to use my free night cert!

Right now in the mix is Breckenridge and Glenwood Springs. There are other nice places but they don't have any Marriotts o_O

Tagging @wendow @amalone1013 I know there are more CO peeps on here but sorry I don't remember exactly who. If only I had @Lain 's spreadsheet. :-)

Do I have to call Chase to add AU? Can it be done online?

You can do it online

After you've logged in to your Chase account, you can add an authorized user by following these steps:
  1. Click on the credit card account where you wish to add the authorized user.
  2. Click “Things you can do,” and then select “Add an authorized user” from the drop-down menu.
  3. Fill out the form.
  4. Click “Add Authorized User.”

Looking for some thoughts about one more (maybe last, probably second-to-last) AmEx business card. I have or had all of the MR-earning business cards (unless there are some hidden ones, like Ameriprise, but I think those are all personal cards?). I also have thus far avoided the pop-up but I am going to be cancelling at least two cards before the end of the year and I suspect that might earn me a pop-up. So, before cancelling (and while I have tuition spend coming up) I'm looking at getting one more business card (I will be under 5/24 in November and right now a CIP is way more attractive than another AmEx personal card).

My problem is that I cannot get the increased Delta Gold Biz offer to show up through any of my referral links. I would get 20,000 MRs if I could refer through my Gold Biz or 15,000 through my Biz Plat. Both of these get me an offer for 30,000 skymiles :(

I could forgo the referral MRs and get 60,000 skymiles, or I could go for the Hilton Biz now and see if I eventually get the increased skymiles offer on a referral link (of course by then I could be in pop-up territory). I've already had the Marriott business card (and have as a keeper the simply cash plus) and none of the other AmEx business cards seem worth the AF/spend requirements. I guess I could also get the Plum card solely for the referral MRs.

Any thoughts? I'm leaning toward the Hilton Biz -- the SUB is 125,000, which from Doc's spreadsheet seems to be a recent high offer.

Is the Delta 75k offer gone now? I closed my personal Delta Gold to snag the Biz gold offer of 75K. How many Amex spots do you have open? I plan on closing my SPG Biz when my renewal hits, and I'll use that spot for the Hilton Biz (I have the Ascend and Aspire too). Right now I have to juggle my cards as all my Amex slots are filled. If you've got time to play and no real need for the skymiles, maybe wait until you can get a higher offer?

Breckenridge is a super cute mountain town, and closer to Denver than Glenwood Springs. Both are fun to visit and have nice hiking. Breckenridge is close to other mountain towns to visit too, whereas Glenwood Springs is pretty much on its own. I'd definitely go with Breck.

ETA: If you're interested in doing a 14er, Quandary Peak is close to Breck and is one of the more doable ones.

Perfect! That's what I was hoping.

It's when I'm on the main page though and want to go to a certain page number that it's a problem. Like today I kept getting those annoying you've won pages, so it's go back to the main page and then either flip so I can pick the page # or go to the newest and then all the way to the bottom of the page so I can hit previous and continue where I left off. The navigation isn't as friendly.

Looking for some recommendations. I used to buy Merona solid color tee's at Target because they held up well and had the crew neck, I don't like v'neck or scoop both because of look and because I wear these under cardigans and sometimes alone. I'm open to women's, misses or juniors and thickness doesn't matter because I always wear tanks under them anyway. Any suggestions for reasonably priced ones? I'd prefer under 15.

I got a couple liz claiborn at JCP last year and they are fine but they aren't as long as I'd like or as long as any of my other solid color tee's or tanks, guessing because of their target age group. They are fine but feel like they are short and the tank I wear underneath is longer so it's problematic.

Gap! I have a ton from Gap or Gap Factory and I feel like they are always between $5-10.

Hope you don’t mind me asking a question. I am new to Amex and MRs. I only have Amex gold. Is it possible to call and apply MRs on the gold if I purchase southwest flight with it?

Thank you so much. I'll head over and read some more :) I've got $5k in Citi and I'm sure some other MSR to hit in the months to come. LOL

I don't hit my 5/24 until 11/19. But I just got a mailer w/ a code from Chase to get the CIP I've been longing for. I just signed up for Citi Biz #2, so I have a $5k spend to hit. The code is good until August. Does this mean I have a chance of being approved before 11/19 since it was a mailer, to my legit business, w/ a code? I've had my legit business bank acct w/ Chase since 2006. So it's about time I get a CIP, LOL.

back of your chase card. probably a chase biz would be best.
Ugh 40 minutes on the phone and denied. Talked to first rep who said reason was too many new accounts and did I want to talk with Recon. Sure. So 2nd CSR tells me I have 5 new accounts. I respond that one is not mine, I was AU on my mom’s now closed account (I asked credit bureaus to remove it but clearly not all did). She says she will reconsider and asks questions about my business, etc. Puts me on hold to review and comes back asking more questions, says I have 10 inquiries including one from US Bank. I explain all except US Bank because I literally have nothing there. Eventually comes back saying denied for too many accounts and not enough business info. I asked her to clarify the not enough info, she was vague and said they need to see more info, I asked like what, it is a sole proprietorship. She couldn’t really answer. So guess I’m out of luck (and possible have a fraudulent account opened in my name at US Bank)

This place looks great. I could string together all 3 of our certs for a long weekend. Do you know if it is convenient to get to universal from here?

I wouldn't pick it as a hotel convenient to Universal. It's not that far until you get stuck in traffic.
I should add that as a Disney hotel it's right there at the back/front door depending on which park - easy drive.
