Was it a bundled booking? I’m going to look into it more today. I just discovered the charge last night.I had to pay taxes and fees on my rental car in St. Louis this weekend, but I paid it when I booked through AA. It was only $23 though.
That's a good question on the situation where you don't pick up the car.
We had something like this happen before when booking a flight and car bundle through Priceline. It was years ago and also Budget. I got no where after the fact fighting with budget so I disputed the charge with the cc but they ended up siding with budget and we had to pay. Was only $90’ish then but I was ticked as we had already paid taxes when booking with PL.

And I won't be able to get a house loan if I wanted. Umm we just paid our house off last year and we have no desire to move so not sure what that is about. Probably just years of always being told your credit score dictates your next financial move. I reassured him that I am keeping a close eye on my score which only moves a few points here and there and I am following great sound advice from you all here.
He's gotten 2 personal cards in that period of time (CSP, WoH) so I'd probably classify him as a receptive P2 instead of a reluctant P2. Plus, he really wants to travel more now that our youngest is in college!
