I love credit cards so much! v2.0 (see first page for add'l details)

Taxes, taxes - I only have to pay a little $245, fortunately not thousands! I was seriously freaked out and didn't even want to do them, but it's okay.
Ugh, you reminded me that I still need to complete ours. It was depressing see how much we owe compared to how much we have already given the government. Plus I’m distracted making 144 pencil wands, 90 chocolate frogs, 90 boxes to put the chocolate frogs in, 90 key bookmarks and all of the other stuff. Priorities, priorities.

DH got the Arrival+ last month and I can exceed the remaining MSR if I suck up the Plastiq fee and pay our mortgage. The 5% rebate on points is driving me nutty, like how do I best plan to extract the most out of this card without spending much over the MSR? #FirstWorldProblems. Spreadsheets are coming in very handy.

I had DH call to cancel his Amex Biz Plat yesterday *gulp*; the AF had gone up to $595 and I couldn't stomach that. He got asked why he's canceling, why he applied for it originally (while on the phone with the rep, "She's asking what interested me in the card in the first place. What did you like about it?" lol while I'm thinking but not saying 100K MR!!), what card he was going to use instead. Geez. One more cancellation to do on the Biz Green when the AF comes due. I'm not feeling super hopeful about him getting the Schwab Plat going forward, but if I substitute one of the 3 cards in his wallet with the BBP he might end up ok. That's all I have to work with guys! 3 cards! He won't carry any more.

I got my CIP#2 card yesterday...of course it arrived after I finished our taxes earlier and could have used it to pay taxes due to the state. Oh well. The credit card fee is 2.3% and it's less for me to MS that so I guess that's what I'll do if I don't manage with organic spend.

Looks like CitiBizAA is the next one for me. I have an old one that I paid the AF on last month (with the sucky retention offer); better get started since it sounds like it comes by horse and buggy.

ETA: His retention offer on the Biz Plat was $100 off the AF. No thanks.

That's awesome! Congrats to your DH. My friend/co-worker's sister goes to school in Melbourne and her mom owns the house she's staying in while at school. It's not a bad drive from here in Orlando. I do know it's much more coastal and got hit a lot harder in the recent hurricanes.
That’s very true and something that does make me nervous. Hurricanes are just something we would have to deal with moving down there and if we have to evacuate then that’s what we’ll do. I’m a nervous nelly so I’m sure we would be one of the first ones to go lol.

Still haven't done ours either. We were not helped at all by tax reform so really dragging my feet doing ours :(

If I want to replace a Marriott night paid with points for my free night certificate , do I need to call or is there a way to do that online?

Hi guys just checking in from WDW. Sorry for everyone and their recent losses of loved ones.

Compared to our October trips and January trips these “spring break” crowds have actually been surprisingly less.

We spent first night at Marriott Townhouse Suites (brand new) outside of parks and then two nights at CBR. Checked in yesterday for two nights at BLT. I love DVC. Just saying.

For those thinking about it we toured the Riviera models. They are seriously so nice. Now plan in motion to sell our OKW direct contract and buy in there. Just trying to figure it out. Credit cards with 0% interest for at least a year will have a role in the plan. :)
Glad to hear you liked Riviera! I'm glad I was able to buy into DVC before the new resort resale restrictions went into effect. I would like to stay at Riviera with my points someday.

Get it while you can!

Gyft: $100 Whole Foods Giftcard For $90 With Promo Code WHOLE19

I believe Gyft still earns 3x on CIP and 5x on CIC through PayPal checkout.

Thanks, grabbed one with my CIC.

I have never really paid attention to the "other" cards. We have been focusing on Chase. Would it be dumb to get one of us the Barclay Arrival plus with the 70k bonus sign up? We are both 3/24, though I think I would get for DH. He has one dropping next month and he just got the CIP so we are slowing with Chase anyway. Actually nothing in Chase I think he needs at the moment anyway. Does anyone know when this offer ends? We just got the CIP, and I am hoping we don't have $10k in spend in the next 3 months so would like to wait a few weeks. Does Mastercard still work with mortgages on Plastiq? Is it straight up or do you have to do a work around? My mortgage is not big and 3 months will only get me halfway, but it could be helpful. Also, are there no support links for these?
I think the Arrival Plus is a good card to get, especially with the 70k signup. I tried to get one but I'm over 6/24.

Got back yesterday from 5 nights in the Swan, thank you Marriott points. Just DH and I, ditched the kids with Grandma. Nice hotel, glad we did it once, but not among my favorites though so probably wouldn't go back. Great location, loved being so close to the boardwalk and EPCOT. They are building some type of grab and go food place and a gift shop in the Swan, that would have been nice this trip. Felt like we spent a lot of time heading over to the Dolphin for those things. I'll probably ditch the old SPG biz cards once the AF moves to $125 but I think we're still going to be $95 when they renew late summer.
Thanks for the Swan review. I'll be staying there for the first time in October for one night. Hopefully the food place and gift shop will be open!

I also asked Barclay AGAIN. Grrr! I never heard back from the previous request and points haven't shown up so I just decided to try again.

I almost forgot about Barclay. I requested 10k (the offer changed a couple days after I applied), but never heard back. My statement closes in about 10 days, so I guess we'll see . . .

Sorry for anyone not interested but I have more from the Dh saga of jobs....

Colorado and Florida both gave Dh official offers today and they are both hefty. Dh stayed home from work today because he had 4 more phone interviews so he’s working from home. After mentioning the offers he now has offers from two more areas: Charlottesville, Virginia and Huntsville, Alabama. I think we are still pretty set on Florida but Dh’s self esteem has gone way up. He was feeling pretty down after the Orlando interview.

They gave us info about relocation packages and also dh’s start date which would be after our Japan trip so that’s really nice. It’s about two weeks after we get home, maybe not even that so that could be tricky. I think we’ll probably ask about coming down to look at houses.

Add Capitol Reef Nat’l park to that. Its not popular but we liked it more than both Bryce/Zion.

We’ve been to the Grand Canyon south rim over spring break. Made stops at the Meteor Crater near Flagstaff and spent time in Page AZ to do a float trip and see Rainbow Bridge and Antelope Canyon. Sedona was included on that trip too.
Check out Jerome and Cottonwood, AZ if you head to Sedona. There’s a restaurant company called the Haunted Group which has great restaurants in both cities. They’re not far from Sedona and a lot less crowded.

Congratulations! Charlottesville is beautiful. I'm an hour east but went to college there.

I can see that you can book a new reward night online using your certificate and then cancel your existing reservation...but I don't know if your points get automatically returned to your account. I've always just done points advance reservations to leave myself options.

We made a side trip to Jerome when we were in Sedona and ate at the Haunted Hamburger. Jerome is a really cool town. Never been to Cottonwood though - will have to check that out.

How exciting!!! Congrats to your DH. I'm super jealous you are most likely moving to FL. I've always wanted to live there, I'm just a big chicken when it comes to starting new jobs.

Wow, that is great! Congrats! I think my desired order would be total opposite of your desired order. lol I think I would go CO, VA, FL, AL. But definitely look into COL and such when you do your salary comparisons. I think most importantly is to go for the job, not the location. Because a bad job in a good location could also suck.

Yes yes yes! We spent 2 nights in Cottonwood, in the cutest hotel. Several wineries on the same block, so much fun. We did 2 day trips to Jerome, and it was wonderful. I would love to go back to Jerome again. The Haunted Hamburger was sooooo good!!!
