All the people with limited credit have to do is go to somewhere like Churchill mortgage where they have manual underwriting...endorsed by Dave Ramsey...and they take these things into consideration already. They are very thorough...annoyingly so if you have a good income and credit and just want the mortgage process to be quick. When we built in 2013 they were the preferred lender for our builder so we used them for the discounts.
And since banks accounts and utilities aren't credit, I don't really think they are a good indicator of how someone with bad credit will manage future credit.

Plus a lot of utilities etc run your credit don't they? I don't have a problem with it if it's something that we can opt into like it is now. Let those who want to opt in and those that don't need/want to not. In the end if it's forced on everyone as long as it only helps and doesn't hurt then that should be ok. But don't judge me on how low I may keep my checking account and you don't need to be looking at my savings account.

I apologize if this is a stupid question, but I just want to confirm.

I received a sign-up bonus on the Chase Sapphire Preferred 24 months ago thus making me ineligible for a bonus on the Chase Sapphire Reserve since it is currently less than 48 months ago.

My wife was an authorized user on that Chase Sapphire Preferred card (which is now closed). My question is, if I now sign my wife up for the Chase Sapphire Reserve, she would be eligible for the sign-up bonus correct? And if I made myself an authorized user on that card, would that in any way affect getting the sign-up bonus?

Yes your wife can sign up for the CSR, CSP or if you want to do the modified double dip..both....

If you just want to sign her up for one card...I’d suggest referring her to the CSP...from your CSP....you get an additional 10k as a referral bonus and she gets the 50k sign up bonus.......then if you really wanted a CSR you could call Chase and upgrade your CSP to a CSR

Agree on the checking account. On the last day of the month I transfer out everything that’s left to savings. I better not be judged for saving.0

1. Yep!
2. Nope!

Being an AU doesn't affect the sign up bonus. Just because you have a card with your name on it, doesn't mean you have an account. You want to think of it as account responsibility/ownership when determining sign up eligibility. Who does the bill come to? Not me? Great, I can get the sign up bonus too :) Likewise you having had the card before has no affect on her sign up bonus. (hopefully that made it less confusing rather than more).

Keep in mind that AU's on the CSR have an annual fee too, but that would get you separate PP benefits. I don't think anything else doubles though.

However, you can't upgrade the CSP to the CSR until after the 1 year anniversary since the CSR has a higher AF. So only go that route if you don't plan to use the CSR benefits for the first year.

Let me make sure I understand this...

So if I’ve had a CIP since Jun, but applied for it with my SS#, but since then have got an EIN for the same business, I could now get a CIP Biz card with the EIN? Would some still qualify that’s 5/24? (I’m not but husband is).

Hmmm....if this is so, I’m going to have to decide between Bonvoy BIZ and this...

You need to be under 5/24 for Chase biz cards, but it won't add to your x/24 count. Yup, you can apply with EIN and get CIP #2. DPs on reddit of it even working with just SSN a second time.

I posted on here a few days ago asking for feedback on my plan to ease into churning, and I just wanted to thank you for the suggestions. It had never occurred to me to think about a business card, but last night I applied for a CIP based on your suggestions. It went to pending, but when I called the status line first thing this morning (a thing I didn't know existed), I was approved. I requested to speak to someone and asked them to expedite my card--yet another thing I didn't know I could do.

So now we'll get through this push through this minimum spend in a month or two and start looking at getting my wife a CSR or CSP. I think we dine out enough to justify the annual fee, and will easily use up the $300 travel credit, so I'm leaning toward the Reserve. We're both sitting at 3/24 now, with one card falling off in a few months. (And 1 of my wife's is a store charge card, it seems unclear if it will count--but I'm assuming it does).

Anyway, thank you all for the ideas. And thanks so much for the invite to the reddit group--it makes it much easier to stay on top of this thread.

First, Congratulations!!

That's an exciting first step there :)

I've noticed a few DP's about store cards maybe not counting in the automated approval process anymore. It's nothing that anyone has called definitive yet, but I remember someone popped up on here a while back that thought they were 6 or 7/24 but 2 or 3 of those were store cards and they got instantly approved. I've seen a couple more over on r/churning. I think it's safer to assume it will count for automated approvals but you might be able to get reconsideration to, well, reconsider; however, if you're desperate or just a general risk taker it probably won't hurt to try it anyway.

I was thinking yesterday while listening to disunplugged from earlier in the week...they were discussing a TA or blogger preview to SWGE with someone who had attended. She even got to try the drinks and food. Made me think that the earlier date rumors were true. Guess they were!

Hi. I am normally a lurker and currently play the game very casually. I know I have seen the answer to my question somewhere but this thread flies far too fast for me to find it!

I am applying for the Marriott bonvoy business card and the first field is business name which also populates into the name on card field. If it’s a small, casual business do I just put my name in this field? I know to use my SS#.

Thanks for the help!

I know you already got your answer (and approved I think, yay! I am so behind...) but just for future thought, since AmEx actually has those 3 name fields - business name, business name on card, and your name - as long as the business name and your name fields match you're good to go as Sole Proprietor, but you should be able to actually put another name in the name on card field. A quirk is that this doesn't appear to work on the SPG Biz cards before, so may still not work on the Bonvoy one, but I've been told on other AmEx cards this works if you wanted to put a biz name on the card. One day I may try this out again, (I did it for my SPG Biz but they didn't print it) but right now I only have MSRs for Chase for the foreseeable future.

Does anyone here have a Amex Schwab Plat? Do you recall how long it took for the card to arrive?

im gonna get shunned by our benevolent leader for saying this but i planned a short trip to vegas on SW from SNA... last time i flew with them was maybe 25-30 years ago. lol.

Thought might be interesting to ya'll, flying private jet back with JetSuiteX. Cost me $29. Flight on SW cost me $150. quite a difference lol.

I am so jelly about the JetSuiteX. I've occasionally looked into those private jet legs but I've never found one that was competitive (I didn't even care what city, just sign me up for the suite life ) so I'm sooo wanting details when you get back to live vicariously through you... plus anything fun and exciting from Vegas, of course!

Not caught up at all, but asking because I see EWR posts. DD is flying United to Europe this weekend from EWR. Are they any lounges she can use? And more importantly, how many friends can she take with her? (She would rather not lounge than go there without her traveling companions.)

I'm sorry for all of you with Labor Day trips who are bummed about this :( do we have anyone happy about it? I'd like to celebrate that someone here got something good out of today's surprised announcement!

:wave2: ME!!!!

It doesn't conflict with our Japan trip or anything else. We do have a Disney Cruise Labor Day weekend. So we just have to go up a day earlier for the opening. I just got a DVC studio at OKW booked now and we are all set. Bring on the madness!
