Aug 29th opening!?!? Labor Day loveliness just got destroyed :(
On the DL side of the DIS someone was listening and said the announcement was very brief. They didn't specify WDW would also open in 2 phases but WDWNT thinks that might be the case, so waiting on confirmation. Labor Day won't be as crazy if Rise of the Resistance isn't up yet right? They've moved onto Marvel stuff so now we're waiting again...

I just saw this... and I'm STUNNED they are allowing that opening to overlap with their good fall promos.

Honestly, I can't believe it.
It's going to be madness.

Makes me so happy that I snagged free dining during that 7 AM opening that morning. Just hoping that it doesn't end up being pure chaos now, but last week in September when kids are back in school should hopefully at least stave off family vacations. Me and all the other nerdy adults can wait in line together lol.

they had it done a few months ago and everything is fine

Can you pay with $500 VGCs (heh ...)?

Mine is almost 13 so I worry about surgery at that age, plus I really just don't have the money for it right now.

So sorry about your furbaby.

Good luck. Mine had a partial tear and we decided against surgery. I think that was about 3 years ago and she's doing ok. Hers was going to cost almost 6k I believe, and the vet said she'd have to have it eventually anyway but so far so good.

I'm so sorry about your baby! I had a pup need a destroyed knee replaced way back when, it was stressful. Best wishes for her.

I feel for you on this one. We had the cat who passed a few hours after the $1500 surgery. An emotional decision was made to provide the surgery by my young at the time son and I didn't have the heart to say no. In hindsight we should have let nature take it's course - the cat would have been with us longer. But with a torn ligament and depending upon age of your pet, you have a different decision to make.

A "like" in support, hugs to you and your furbaby. Both of my previous dogs each had ACL surgeries (TPLO) when they were around 10-12 years old, and they both went on to live a few more good years afterwards. With a cardiac condition, though, I can see how your worries increase about anesthesia. Definitely have pre-anesthetic bloodwork run beforehand. If this place is worth their salt, they will have a blood pressure monitoring system, ECG, pulse ox, IV fluids, a good perioperative pain management protocol, and a technician there during the surgery who will be actively checking on your doggo throughout the entire procedure. Post-surgery, there is the recovery time at home where you'll need to have your house set up to keep her quiet and away from the other dogs because she needs to have very controlled activity for weeks afterwards (although you might be doing that already?).

Not an easy decision, I totally get it.

Open up a Barclays Arrival+?

Other ideas - Discover checking gives you 1% cash back on up to $3000/mo. Will the vet will take Discover debit cards? It would take some time for the debit card to get to you if you opened an account today, but ACL surgeries aren't emergency situations and are often scheduled weeks out in advance. I personally MS my Amex Gold some, but don't know if this is an option for you.

That stinks. So sorry you're dealing with this. I hope everything works out.

@tink1970 Sorry to hear about your furbaby. What a difficult choice. :grouphug:

Wow, y'all are awesome! I have no doubt she's going to have the surgery if the ortho wants to operate. I was told when she was diagnosed by the cardiologist at Auburn that her life expectancy was 2-6 years (she was a year old at the time) and to keep her quiet, calm at all times and away from other pets and children. Well, I've embraced the quality over quantity mantra, switched vets because they wouldn't operate on her entropion and she's now 6 1/2 years old. She's a fighter and a survivor and if she dies on the table or post op because I'm trying to ensure a better quality of life then that's what happens. Thank you for your kind words of support, it's going to be a stressful week until the consultation and then if surgery is scheduled, more stress.

I appreciate the CC suggestions. I think I actually got approved for the Barclay AA Biz (not immediately approved, then received an email with congrats) so that could be $1000 (sorry @wendow!). I'm holding out for DH's recon with Chase to go well, then if that doesn't work, he might "need" a citi AA biz.

@WVMomof3 -so sorry to hear about your cat --the older they get the harder the surgery decision is, for sure.

@Judique -sorry about your cat, too:hug:...I think DD leaving the nest is making me somewhat more emotional and prone to spending money on DDog.
It's always easy to second guess yourself but it sounds like you wanted to make life better for kitty.

@platamama @elgerber @palhockeymomof2 -thanks for the kind words of hope!:grouphug:

I hate to agree with @SouthFayetteFan just on principle (LOL!) but this really is a great group of people and I'm happy to interact with y'all daily (drinking my diet dr pepper). I so appreciate your kind words.

Ok, it's official-official now! May 31 DLR and Aug 29 WDW phase 1 (Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run) will be open. Phase 2 "later this year". DLR will require no-cost reservations to access SWL May 31-June 23. WDW will not have this requirement. No date given for Rise of the Resistance, just "later this year".

ETA: guests staying at DLR hotels will receive a reservation per registered guest for SWL. At WDW it will be open during EMH.

I am pretty sure there is a Jewish holiday that week so there may families there for a long weekend.

I can't believe the two part openings, but I can. Disney just turned on the money vacuum.

Not OOP, but thank you federal income tax info! We owe quite a bit (despite what I feel is an absurd amount that we already had withheld) and opening an Arrival + for DH will help ease that pain!

LOL-I have opened many a card just for quarterly taxes and my Plat Biz was for annual last year. It really does take the sting out when the miles/points post!

In all honesty, the state fair really is a lot of fun. We usually go every year and my parents go for a Wednesday-Sunday and stay at my aunt and uncle’s camper and then go to my other aunt and uncle’s house. I’ll have to talk to the band about playing! We didn’t last year because it’s a long drive and we don’t get paid since we play on the free stage. It may be too late to apply now. I’ll let you know!

Have fun! One of my cousins is with the Corn Board (is that a thing?) so the IA State Fair is one of her busy times. It sounds like fun, I need to get up there sometime for it!

So sorry to hear about your pup. Our 2 year old boxer/hound has heart worm and needs to get a shot (that might kill him) next week. I feel your pain. Fingers crossed for you!

Oh no, your poor guy! I've fostered a lot of dogs after "fast kill" heartworm treatment. Please PM me if you have any questions (I'm no expert but have been through the process more time than I'd like. I hate heartworms!). The waiting and keeping them still is the worst part. I hope he does well.

Squeee! P2's CIP #2 with EIN was approved!!! It was stuck on 30 days all day. I *only* checked 16 times, lol. Thought for sure we'd have to fax in the EIN letter (was already debating asking him to call or just wait for the letter).

His last Chase card was almost 3 months ago and I lowered CLs.

Let me make sure I understand this...

So if I’ve had a CIP since Jun, but applied for it with my SS#, but since then have got an EIN for the same business, I could now get a CIP Biz card with the EIN? Would some still qualify that’s 5/24? (I’m not but husband is).

Hmmm....if this is so, I’m going to have to decide between Bonvoy BIZ and this...

Yes! Being able to hit those spends quickly will help. If you can have all of those points within 3-4 months you’ll be in great shape to snag your flights. I will warn you though...once you have a CP (companion pass) it can be very tempting to take more trips ;) I’m sure MANY people here can attest to that LOL!!

Just piping in ( I am just catching up - like 50 pages behind). If you can swing it. I would have P2 do the exact same thing. You would get 230,000 points total and 2 companion passes. So your kids could both fly free for the remainder of this year and all of next year. It was really nice when DH and I both had companion passes and both kids were free. DH still has his. Mine has expired but planning on getting again for 2020-2021 so will apply towards the end of the year. DH can apply again next year sometime so will do that with him again too. Love flying SW. So easy to use for points and easy to change flights or cancel if needed.

GUYS I THINK STAR WARS IS OPENING AUGUST 29TH IN DISNEY WORLD. NOOOOOOOOOOO.

I just saw this too, I am not happy LOL. I don't want to deal with that crowd! Of course I still need the actual date for Illuminations ending so I can finalize my trip. But now, if they change Illuminations from the rumored date, the chance of getting a room is now going to go from slim to none.

The real downside to this announcement is I'm eating lunch at my desk and wanted to look at more options for dining for our trip and now the Disney website is super slow lol.

I think DD leaving the nest is making me somewhat more emotional and prone to spending money on DDog.

So sorry to hear about your pup's injury, but this is my DH, to a degree that is almost funny. We have two cats that are definitely his replacement children.

One of the cats had surgery last November and I was super impressed with the vet. Her (the cat's) incision has healed perfectly -- you can't even tell that she was cut open (and it was a pretty big incision).

Hoping for a good outcome for your pet but I agree that I would opt for surgery if the vet was willing to do the operation.
