American Express has a few good cards depending on whether you want to pay an AF or not.
Cash Back:
Blue Cash Everyday is 3% cash back on groceries, up to $6000 spend/annually
Blue Cash Preferred is 6% cash back on groceries, up to $6,000 spend/annually
If you collect Membership Rewards (MRs), there are at least 3 other options:
Everyday 2X MR up to $6,000 *then an additional 20% so 2.2 MRs if you make 20 purchases in a month
Everyday Preferred 3x MR up to $6,000 AF $95 *then an additional 50% so 4.5 MRs if you make 30 purchases in a month
Gold 4X MR up to $25000 AF $250
Yes, you can buy gift cards at Kroger and reap the benefits from the reward structure.
If you wanted to received straight cash back you could have both the BCE/BCP and max out their limits for only $95. Someone who is good at math could tell you what the rate of return is on that (not me).
Remember, you can only have 5 Amex credit cards at any time, the gold is not a credit card but a charge card, and please see
