He can read much harder stuff than he prefers. He is capable of reading stuff like Harry Potter but thinks it’s too scary. Instead he prefers Wimpy Kid, Captain Underpants and Fart Squad. Much to my chagrin, he hates reading.
Maybe I don’t know how to use the system, but we have Hoopla and I don’t find it east to search or locate things he is interested in.
I'm not a big fan of Hoopla. I don't like that you only get 3 checkouts per month. One of the other libraries I use has a program called Bridges and when you return an item you get that back. So you can have 3 at a time, but there isn't a limit for each month how many you can take.

@Calfan - Best wishes for a quick recovery to your dad!

I'm actually using mine right now in London! I've probably had mine 10 years, and it has held up really well. I don't take mine in my carry on so can't speak to that, but I will add that Tumi has amazing sales a couple times a year. So although they are expensive, I got mine 50-60% off. Apparently burnt orange isn't a popular color, LOL.

Speaking of London .... @calypso726 the London production was FANTASTIC. I loved the guy who played Hamilton and some of the others were just as good/better than the original cast members we saw. The NY production with some of the original cast members still holds the nostalgic #1 position, but I am completely *satisfied* (LOL!) with the price we paid to see it. I wouldn't hesitate to see it again here, and I will be trying for tickets when we come back in June.
I was so excited to read your opinion of the show. I was a little concerned that the West End version would not hold up to the OBC. We are patiently waiting to buy tickets for August & the way they release them month by month is killing me. Not all complaining about the fact that the "good seats" cost £250 or less in London as opposed to whatever they are in NY now. I don't ever want to admit to anyone what we paid a few years ago.

@Calfan hope your Dad gets better.

What do you budget per day for universal studios? Never been with kids so no clue how much food and souvenirs I should budget. We do the dining plan with Disney. Plus I haven’t seen any gift cards for universal so can’t do any savings there.
Bubba Gump Shrimp at Citi Walk is Landry's. That's about the only gift card I can think of that you can get a discount. I'm not good as far as the budgeting goes, we eat a lot , and mostly at Citiwalk or the hotel. Voodoo Doughnuts, Bubba Gump, Toothsome, Orchid Lounge at RPR. If you are looking more for inside the parks maybe someone else has better info.

Universal has an extremely good TS called Mythos. Prices in general are a little bit lower than Disney, but not much.

Pro tip: If you try the Butterbeer, do not put a straw in it unless you hate yourself. The foam will bubble out & get all over the table, your clothes, etc. I was really kind of annoyed that nobody mentioned this to us. We had to waddle to the bathroom like giant sticky toddlers & change into the clothes we brought for after the water rides.

This just made me LOL!
I've heard so many good things about Mythos and still haven't eaten there yet. I'll have to make a point to try it next time.

Make this happen!

Never mind. I see he’s boarding. This is not my afternoon. *hangs head in shame* I’m going to sign off now and go see my kiddo.

I imagine there is a need for some P2 therapy in general. Would give them a chance to talk about their crazy credit card obsessed P1's. We probably wouldn't want to hear those conversations!

One thing I dont like is I can't seem to return ebooks early. I read quickly.

I found my cat mystery series I used to read and reread all the old ones plus read the new ones i hadn't read yet but now the two newest are checked out. One on the only one and I think will come up tomorrow. But the other I'm 4th and I'm like, but that's two months....
Which appt are you using? I am able to return right away with Overdrive.

Actually it’s 5, but even that’s not much. I’ll have to look and see if they have any other programs

Ahh, awesome reading list. Beings back memories! It sounds like the list my DS25 used to choose! No worries, he’s now an Engineer. Keep encouraging him but let him read what he likes!

Maybe I need to switch. Most I've downloaded the kindle version since my ereading started with kindle unlimited. I haven't used overdrive yet. I've done Hoopla for a few, not sure or didnt notice there was a limit

Has he tried the 13 Story Treehouse series? My DD9 (who also likes Wimpy Kid, etc) read a couple of those and liked them. They're sort of Wimpy Kid-esque but not terrible. I feel your pain in having a reluctant reader. My DD *seems* to be growing more as a reader in the last couple months. They started doing book clubs in her classroom, so I suggested that she & I do a book club together at home and she went for it. I think she liked the idea of me reading "her" books. Thankfully she chose a really great book that one of her friends recommended (The War That Saved My Life) for our first book, and now we're reading the sequel. They're historical fiction set in England during WWII, which is exactly what I loved when I was 9-10 years old. I'm sure interests are different with a boy, but don't give up hope!

DH’s BBP came today. It is see through! I had no idea. DH saw me open it and I must have jumped or something because he said “did you have a little adrenaline shot?” Answer is yes I did and now I want one too! :)
I do think he was a little impressed because he now has 3 cards in his wallet (CSR for eating out and Hyatt and BBP for minimum spends).

Airline credit news. My hoping it would credit but hasn’t yet $30 fee for the taxes for the companion certificate has still not posted on the Biz Plat. It has now been over a week so not looking good. If all I can get that makes sense with the airline credit and Delta is $50 gift cards I will be cancelling these high fee cards. Of course my Amex Platinum fashion magazine did come today. So I am feeling super fancy...
