Not sure which library system you're in but you might see if any around you have a better lending library and if they offer reciprocal memberships. I know here I have a card with my county library system but I can also join the Seattle library and some of the other surrounding counties. It's more useful now with all of the online things that are offered between ebooks and online tools like geneaology searching etc. Along with OverDrive mine also has TumbleBook Library that says it's video storybooks and read-alongs for readers in grades K-6. I've never used it but that might be something to look into as well.
ETA the reciprocal can also be good for those with older kids as some libraries have access to different periodicals and online reference stuff which could be useful for school.
