I love credit cards so much! v2.0 (see first page for add'l details)

Already have the citibiz and was denied the Barclay Biz last fall. For too many cards in a short time. Since I added 4 cards since then, I'm guessing they will deny again, LOL.
I just got cip and citibiz. Should I get the aviator biz now before those two cards report to the credit agencies?

I spent a bunch of time at work today figuring out the savings rate if we dumped all of our remaining Lowes/Staples AMEX offers into Visa/MCGCs and then used them to buy Disney GCs at Sam's or BB/SB route and used them towards ILs cruise fare. We're about 30 days out from the PIF date.

Going to Sam's ~11% savings (0.9% more than vs just buying Disney GCs at Lowes/Staples, or $27, so that could be a toss up much as I like to squeeze out every penny)

Going the BB/SB route ~ 15% savings

If Staples runs a no fee deal that potentially adds 2.5% in savings to either scenario, for that portion

I would happily use up these offers that way. The only thing stopping me is we still haven't gotten a penny from BILs for their share :(

Behind again today, so I'll just comment on what I've read so far and then I'll keep trying to catch up.

:offtopic: a little but really it is due to all these CCs/bank bonuses and accounts I now have. Just did mandatory computer/network security training at work. Realized my passwords really, really suck and I need to do something. In the last year for our 2 player household, I added 3 new Chase accounts (2 business and 1 personal); 2 Citi; 2 Barclays; 2 AMEX; 1 PNC; 1 5/3rd; 2 new AA; 2 new Delta. Plus all the accounts from before - regular bank, some stores. It is getting overwhelming and as I said I know I am not using super strong like they suggest. Asking if anyone uses a password keeper and would recommend. I just looked up PC Mags top choices but any first hand knowledge would be welcome to making my decision. TIA.

DH is a huge proponent of password programs (network security is something he deals with daily at work). He likes One Password. I know this because he is constantly telling me I need to start using it, and I keep putting it off. Even my DD has been using it for a while. It supports long, meaningless passwords that would be impossible to memorize. Hope this helps. I'll likely be using it soon (can only say "next week" for so long LOL)

I hate when Amex has to "research" something or starts an "investigation." I always think nothing good can come from this. I'm glad it worked out for you!

Nothing good comes of it. I still don't have my $10 from Shake Shack, even though they both said they would investigate and also that they would manually credit me. It's been about a month, and I decided it wasn't worth the effort, but DH bugged them about it yesterday and they kept asking him if it was in a ball park (um, no, it's not like there are more than 1 around these parts) and if we bought merchandise (can you even do that?). All for food that was just sort of ok. AMEX is making us work way too hard to get this reimbursed, and I don't really want to draw all this attention to my account over $10.

I cancelled 2 authorized co-signers on my husband and my accounts 3 days ago. Do they come off automatically if a creditor is checking either of our credits or is it better to wait 30 days?

You will have to contact Transunion etc to get them removed from the report. Others here know more about that.

I'm not a good tracker. Think we will be due for a Staples no fee Visa/MCGC sale soon?

I hope so, I really need another one so I can use the remaining Staples offer I have! Planning to go to BBY afterwards.

Checking into the Grand Floridian in 5 days for a quick weekend trip-Thursday to Sunday. Using JetBlue points to fly and discounted gift cards for hotel and food. We have APs that expire in June.

ADRs are Via Napoli, Chef Arts Homecomin’ and the Edison.

I have 7DMT, FOP and SDD fastpasses too!

Can’t wait to escape these 30 degree temps in the Northeast.

Sounds like a great trip! Have you eaten at Homecomin' before? Sooooo good.

It'll depend on what else was in his wallet. Any rewards cards like for grocery etc, he'll need to get a new one. If it has fuel rewards etc attached have him go to customer service. My mom was able to have her stuff moved over either by customer service or by calling the number. Gym membership, library card, etc.

Hoping he didn't carry his social and probably didn't have any blank checks or deposit slips which makes the banking part less of a problem.

The cops ended up finding some of the stuff from my mom's wallet, like my stepdad's old DL she was still carrying. Unfortunately they didn't find her purse or photo's so she did lose some stuff that wasn't replaceable. The one advantage guys have by only carrying wallets, it's generally only photo's and you tend to not carry more than is necessary because the wallet gets too fat.

All the talk about mattresses has me looking. Our mattress just had its 24th birthday, right after our anniversary. We have both the Amex and chase Casper offers, but eek, they are expensive. Which is why our mattress is so old. I look at the prices and think it’s too much. I’m a cheap skate. I think our old one is still comfortable. My DH does not. But he likes firm and I like soft. We have tried a sleepnumbr at my sisters. She hated it so much she moved it to her guest room. We didn’t like it either. So it’s easier to keep the old one than agree on a new one. But I think it’s time very soon.

And I thought we kept ours too long (longer than I'm willing to admit)! It was getting uncomfortable, ok it was way past that, but mattresses are so expensive and we could not agree on one, so it kept getting delayed and delayed. We had one from a local mattress place, but they wanted far too much money IMHO for what they are selling now. DH wanted to try Casper, I was curious about T&N, but then we didn't want to commit to something without trying it out first. We finally ended up at Macy's and it took hours but we were able to find one that's not too fancy, but a traditional kind with a pillow top (he wants firm, I want soft, and this was a great compromise). My friend recommended the one we got, and honestly it was the most comfortable one for us. I totally agree that it's easier to keep the old one until you can agree on a new one, but I feel so much better with the new one. Some of the aches and pains have gone. I don't think I'll ever wait this long again. Good luck finding one you like.

In CC news, I'm thinking about being brave (finally) and applying for a CIP. I don't have any biz cards at all, and I'm nervous about it all. But I guess a denial isn't really that big of a deal, right? Worth the risk? If anyone has words of advice I'd love to read them. The AA FOMO is real, but I think URs would serve us better at the moment...

Similar story here. Our mattress is 22-1/2 years old. Bought it when we got married. DH is ready for a new one but I’m dragging my feet. Just afraid we’ll end up with something worse and have it be a huge hassle to return. I guess I should have a look at some of these too. I don’t remember seeing any offers on any of my cards though.

I see you've joined the avatar club with an awesome action shot there. Congrats on surviving your runs, and I hope DW did also after not feeling well earlier!

It seems to have cut off half my head, which is fine. I can't figure it out on mobile. I might like it better that way anyway.

@kandb This is easy with Credit Karma, at least it used to be. I don't have access to a desktop at the moment to give you exact directions, but I know you can dispute an account with both Equifax and TransUnion through Credit Karma. It's very simple. With Experian, you'll have to initiate a dispute on their website. All of this will take about 30 days.

They should also come off automatically after a few months, but disputing will get it done faster and you'll have the peace of mind knowing it's done on all 3.

The thought that got me my first biz card was, the worst that will happen is they'll say no. And you don't know until you try. As long as you're under 5/24 and comfortable talking about your business if necessary (although this seems much less common than it once was), there's nothing to lose by trying.

all they can say is no and give u a hard pull... heck, if that happens, id still encourage you to try again later down the year!

I was chicken for a long time. Even filled out the app twice I think before I actually submitted! Then I said OK only one Biz card. Then I said maybe one more. And then maybe another. lol The 80,000 URs was definitely a big motivator! Good luck!

Thank you. Comfortable? Not really, but I can try to work up to feeling ok about it.

Thanks. I'll see if I can really do this.

Thanks. Yeah I guess it's not the end of the world if I'm denied. I will just hide my head in shame and slink about for a while. The CIC sounds good. I was hoping DH could apply for that one next, but he's at 5/24 for another month or two so he has to wait. I'll have to ask how to use that one if he does get it.

Also, can I go ahead and apply now, or should I wait another month? I got my first Chase card, a WOH one, at the end of December (card didn't arrive until January). Is Feb. too soon?

Totally agree on the Shake Shack. I’ll be using my credits at Cheesecake or Ruth’s Chris from now on. If I want a burger, i’ll go to Five Guys or somewhere else.
