Just playing around with some dates for a London/Paris/etc trip next January... holy smokes, batman, is an economy ticket on United from DEN to London really running $2k??? :faint:

I think it's a bit high. And that it's because it's still early. I was on a cruise group FB page for our DCL Europe cruise last summer and paid attention to the chatter about air, even though we used MRs to book our tickets so did it early. People were finding that 11-12 mos out it was expensive, but a couple months later airlines like Norwegian and Iceland came out with low fares (I remember Norwegian had OAK-CPH for around $450pp). In general, I'd rather use points, but if you want to pay cash I'd watch it carefully for about a month or two since there is a decent chance it will go down.

That's what I see. Playing with flying into London and home from Paris, can be done in Economy for 60k points and about $88. In 2015 I was happy to fly IcelandAir for $913pp - boy how times have changed :rotfl:

I think that's a good point redemption, and a high cost for flying Iceland. My DD is flying from PHL>Barcelona for under $500 this spring. She and her friends bought their tickets in late November, so about 4-5 months before they leave.

Chase updates-received the $300 R-C airline credit after 6 back and forth SMs. Slightly annoying but worth it I suppose.
Also called and pc'd my CFU to a 2nd CF so I can take advantage of the drug store (another $1500 in dgc) 5x perk.

DH received a citi biz AA flier with 9 number code-is this what I need to jump on the grAAvy train? If so, do I need to cancel my biz first? I know there is a lengthy write up and I think that's the procedure but just double checking before I get on board.

I'm sorry it was so hard to get the airline credit, but your post is helping relieve some of my FOMO on the RC card. They shouldn't make it so hard.

We're almost at 8 inches and it's stopped snowing. Might get more tomorrow into Monday but supposedly no more than 2 inches. Either way if Dude ventures off the path into the snow we'll lose him.

For the R-C were you able to do gift cards or was it an in flight credit or something similar?

I just attached my Marriott Travel certificate to a reservation, but my account isn't showing anything attached and it says that I don't have enough points required for the stay. Does anyone know if this is normal and it takes some time to update? I REALLY don't want to have to call back.

When I had mine applied to a res....it changed within a few minutes so reflect the certificate and showed a reduced number of points for the booking equal to the value of the certificate.

Definitely not gc--I upgraded two seats on a flight. They are very specific about what counts and when you SM the request you have to list it. Now I'm sure someone could buy a gc and label it as something else but I'm pathologically honest. Listed below is what they count.

Eh, to be fair, last year it was accomplished with a single, efficient SM. I forgot exactly what they wanted in the email so it took a couple of reminders for me to give them everything they wanted.

I'll throw it out here: Date of purchase/amount of purchase/merchant (airline)/type of purchase. Somehow I just assumed (I know never assume) they could see the date/merchant/amount but for some reason they want it enumerated. Live and learn and next year it will be easier!

Qualifying activities:

Shay, only the following types of non-ticket purchases
qualify for this offer:
- Airline lounge day pass, or towards a yearly lounge
membership of your choice
- Airline seat upgrades
- Airline baggage fees
- In-flight internet or entertainment
- In-flight meals

Anyway, hope this helps! I'm seriously considering upgrading my Marriott Premier Plus since I'm always upgrading flights!

Don't bother with this unless you want ride photo's. The only place I ever saw a PP was the Mickey meet and Moana. Even meeting at princess fairytale hall they used our camera and took one pic, I don't remember there being a PP there. There was never anyone in their hub area. Most of the rides still had the screens with the photo after so we just took pics of those. One ride had a watermark over it, I think RnR which I think is closing soon for a refurb anyway.
Good to know. I still have your TR on my list to read :D

Yeah, we didn't really look for a deal back then. It was the first time we'd booked anything international, and maybe the second time I was booking flights myself. We bought them about 7 months out. I'll be planning on points for our flights this time around!

As usual, @calypso726 beat me to it...United has much more reasonable fares (to me) using miles. Looks like the perfect opportunity to get a United Biz/CIP/etc if you're under 5/24 (I don't have access to @Lain 's spreadsheet).
Ahhh, I was looking at the United personal cards earlier but forgot to look at the Biz card.... I'm 4/24, DH is 3/24... will have to do some thinking.

Hello CC gurus!

I would love it we could stay at the Swolphin in September (right now rooms are still available) and I'm wondering which card would be better in trying to pay the least amount out of pocket. I'm debating about a CSP vs the SPG Amex. I honestly I have no idea how the SPG points work. I know there are tiers of some sort? If rooms are showing available for cash are they available for points? I am more familiar with how Chase works. TIA!!

CC history last 24 months:
Hilton Amex 7/18
Disney Chase 8/18
Southwest Chase 7/17

We're watching BILs dogs tonight... and I'm super pumped because they don't have to go in their kennel at night anymore and that means they can sleep with ussssss!!! :cool1: :rotfl2: Yes, I probably sound like a weirdo but they are cuddle monsters. Also, our family dog slept with me from age 12 until I went to college, and then whenever I was home from college until she passed away. I miss that feeling :sad1: ILs dogs will usually only stay with you so long before they get hot and leave.

Not sure if she knows about the app either. She has the pin to change it but what a pain in the bottom to do it. She will just usually put on another layer. I wish the nest had a hold feature instead of going in and totally changing the calendar settings.
I layer up anyway. Ours is 70 when we’re home, 66 at night or not home. Except the Nest is in a little hall outside the bathroom/DS bedroom, so the temp is artificially elevated. Temp in our bedroom is cooler (2 outside walls, old house) and the TV room needs a space heater (addition to house, clearly not built well) so 66 when we’re home might require hat and gloves.

I’m pretty sure that’s its 50,000 Marriott points a night..the SPG sign up bonus right now is 75,000 points....if you opened the person and business cards you’d have a minimum of 150,000 points
How much is it per night with cash. .... depending on the rate you may be better off opening the CSP....and cashing out the sign up bonus to put towards a cash rate

Our little 8 lb ball of fluff sleeps with us every night....she likes to be under the covers too.....loves to snuggle....sleeping on my lap right now

I've had a dud of a couple days. It was 65 here on Thursday and by night was 20... which caused my sinuses to go bonkers. So yesterday I woke up with my ears draining and my throat sore. By the end of the day my throat was at 5 alarm five level. I have that today and a cough from the drainage. A lymph node near my throat is swollen hard like a walnut!

I had to go to HR Block for my tax appointment at 9 this morning. I knew it was going to be bad for us - the SALT change killed us and it is worse than we thought. Plus it turns out I'm missing two forms from Fidelity so I had to hold my return to wait for those but those will likely increase our tax bill more.

Had to buy a new microwave today too. Plus the closing documents on my DVC contract came yesterday so I just went ahead and sent the cashier's check - last contract it was a little while longer in between passing ROFR and the documents. Plus I paid the Hilton Amex bill from the Disney cruise that I accidentally charged instead of using the Arrival+ so I was out that money. I feel like we're hemorrhaging cash right now. Sigh.

Since I'm up from my nap and relatively lucid for awhile before more NyQuil I think I'll look at my spreadsheet and figure out how long it will take me to get back under 5/24. I've decided there's no other cards I want right now so I might as well. Will report back.
