No dice on retention offer for Marriott Premier Plus (personal), even after stating I was upset about all the properties going from Cat 5 to Cat 6, thus making it much harder to use the free night certificate. Still mulling about this one. DW wants to keep it (and it is her card, so I suppose we should), and there do appear to be other decent big city redemptions here in the NE.

I’ll keep that one in mind. We’ve never stayed in that area. We like The downtown area since we typically go to Devon’s Seafood and Steak and DS loves Duck Donuts!
Yeah, it's like staying in the burbs comparatively. There's a little shopping center with food and a Giant, and nearby is a soft serve place but you're not walking to any of it :) A least the HIE is across from a shopping center, we've walked over for dinner or snacks before. It's definitely different than staying on/near Chocolate Ave.

DH and I need to decide by the end of this month whether we want to keep the business version. I'm eyeing some international hotels with 35k redemptions, so we might keep it.

Hmmm, I think I've missed something. I thought I had stayed up to date on the thread lately, but maybe not. SPG cards are increasing the annual fee for existing cards? How much is it going up? I assumed it was for people getting new cards, but the fee can change once you have one? We have two amex SPG biz cards with the $95 fee. That is worth it to me, but not any higher than that...

Apparently they are increasing the fee on the Biz to $125. I'll be keeping mine. I can still find redemptions in the $200 to $400 range.

You actually can still get Marriott Biz over 5/24. Looks like it's about to disappear though, so get it now if you want it.

Thanks. I only wanted it for the 35k FN cert that I could use in NYC. Since that is changing, I've no use for another 35k FN cert. Between the SPG biz and Marriott Premier Plus card that DH and I each have, we got 4 nights which tend to work great for weekends off site at WDW.

SPG Biz only is increasing for all renewals on or after 3/28/19 to $125. The exception is for folks who got the card before 3/28/19 and are in their first year, the second year is at the $95 and by their renewal on or before 3/28/21 will be moved up to the $125. By 2021 all holders of the SPG Biz will have the $125 fee.

Thanks. I would probably use the free nights on visiting family, nothing too exciting, so the $125 is not really worth it for me... Our fees will post in the summer so we'll see then. Just canceled SW plus last night, does feel good to get rid of some cards. :-)

ETA: Just saw the next post about it increasing the following year since we just opened them this year. So will cancel next year instead.

Ooooh, thanks. So we got ours this past summer, so should be good to renew at $95 this year. Probably cancel the following year then.

Everyone who was considering the residence inn and spring hills suites Charleston Riverview for 7 night certs, it is bumping to cat 5...book now if you are really interested.

ETA: I just made a ressie for 4th of July week in case. Don't have to twist my arm to get me to spend a week in chs and I don't feel confident I will be able to upgrade my cert. I am still going to try though, and if I am successful probably use it for swolphin.
That's what I'm attempting to do right now, but I've been on hold forever! Which one did you end up booking?

Just playing around with some dates for a London/Paris/etc trip next January... holy smokes, batman, is an economy ticket on United from DEN to London really running $2k??? :faint:

Very possible but I found RT on United's website using UA points for 60k and a couple of hundred bucks.
