Chase updates-received the $300 R-C airline credit after 6 back and forth SMs. Slightly annoying but worth it I suppose.
Also called and pc'd my CFU to a 2nd CF so I can take advantage of the drug store (another $1500 in dgc) 5x perk.

Gift cards dot com is on their shopping portal. The portal has a bonus going right now too - 400 extra I think. Not huge points but they add up.
Also xfer from Marriott.

They don't have a transfer partner that's why people were churning their cards so much. In the past you've been able to use AA or DL to book on Alaska but they ended their partnership with DL. I'm not sure about AA though I did use their miles to book an AS flight a couple years ago. Unless there's a non US airline that's a partner, AA is going to be your only potential option.

The other option was the Marriott Nights and Flight bundle but I don't know if that's still an option or even a good one. I've only seen talk about the old certs not anyone booking new ones.

you can fly alaska by booking thru british airlines. BA does have a lot more transfer partners. i've only done it once and it did not go very smooth but i know it is out there and can be done.

Thanks -- I'll look in to these. Alaska has never been the best flight option anywhere but for some reason it now has the only direct flight from our local airport into Seattle . . .

I just attached my Marriott Travel certificate to a reservation, but my account isn't showing anything attached and it says that I don't have enough points required for the stay. Does anyone know if this is normal and it takes some time to update? I REALLY don't want to have to call back.

That's what I'm attempting to do right now, but I've been on hold forever! Which one did you end up booking?

Residence inn. I just did a points ressie online and I will call to convert my cert to a new one and attach it later. We are all a hockey tournament all day.
Are you going to try to convert to a higher cert? Read the flyertalk thread first if so...you need to use specific language and do not say upgrade at all.

Just for fun here... After my trip to London/Paris with my friend in late 2015, I came back and started playing with a budget to go back with DH. I was looking at around 3 years down the line. So I priced all of this stuff out and then gave it a 3% increase for 3 years to account for inflation.

Here's what I came up with: $8825
  • 8 nights in budget hotels ($1779)
  • 2 nights at DLP (probably their value? $317)
  • Flights on a budget airline ($2361)
  • Transportation budget ($520) - included Eurostar to Paris, Oyster card money, and a misc fund for taxis or trains
  • Activities budget ($1344) - included London Pass, Paris Pass, DLP tickets, and a misc fund
  • Food budget ($1236)
  • DLP Photopass, Souvenirs, Misc cash for expenses ($1268)
I pretty much based this off what I spent on my 10 night trip with my friend - some thins like flights/hotels/DLP costs I looked up what they were when I made this, and then food/souvenirs/most activiites/misc stuff I based off what I spent on my trip and doubled it.

I think I will treat this as my number to beat (by a lot!) but stretching the trip to 16 or 17 nights... :rolleyes1

I booked the Residence Inn as well. I didn't even try to convert it. When I first said the hotel, she said "Oh that's a category 4 hotel and you can only use it for a category 6." So I chose a cat 6 but when she went to attach it she realized it was the old cat 6 and couldn't do it. Oh well,we will rent a car and at least the Residence Inn has free parking.

Hmm... so it turns out ILs original cruise reservation was on my CSR for $902 deposit. I made a new reservation when adding DHs Aunt, put the $645 deposit on DHs CSR (they are running a special). Now I'm thinking... If that IS my Arrival in the mail... Maybe I will just rebook AGAIN and put the deposit on that card as long as the price is the same (it is right now). Why not?? Semi-free MSR!

The reps are so clueless.
Are you there over the 4th or sometime diff?

Okay, so I'm doing my taxes (using Tax Hawk) and since I don't have a 1099-INT from Fidelity, where should I put the $200 bonus?

Just playing around with some dates for a London/Paris/etc trip next January... holy smokes, batman, is an economy ticket on United from DEN to London really running $2k??? :faint:

As usual, @calypso726 beat me to it...United has much more reasonable fares (to me) using miles. Looks like the perfect opportunity to get a United Biz/CIP/etc if you're under 5/24 (I don't have access to @Lain 's spreadsheet).

DP to report. I called Amex this morning about my new $595 annual fee for the Platinum Business card and was offered $100 statement credit after the very nice agent tried to sell me on all the new perks :) The only other offer on there was for 5000 MR after spend and another 500MR after another spend. I took the statement credit. I *really* like to have the option to pay my taxes with the card and get 1.5x points--I took advantage of it last year, and even with the fee, it was a windfall as I was able to use those points to book JAL first class RT tickets to Japan next summer. This will be me and DD19: https://www.travelcodex.com/review-japan-airlines-first-class-san-francisco-to-haneda/ (DS22 and DH will be checking out ANA upper class). The we work option is also intriguing enough for me to keep it around for another year. We'll see after that. I expressed my continued disappointed at the 35% rather than 50% return on points after airfare booking, and the rep said she heard that all the time :)

DLP Photopass

Don't bother with this unless you want ride photo's. The only place I ever saw a PP was the Mickey meet and Moana. Even meeting at princess fairytale hall they used our camera and took one pic, I don't remember there being a PP there. There was never anyone in their hub area. Most of the rides still had the screens with the photo after so we just took pics of those. One ride had a watermark over it, I think RnR which I think is closing soon for a refurb anyway.
