Sooooo Southwest just started direct flights to Orlando back up from my home airport... Saturday direct flights. They're PERFECT for our trip to WDW in the fall. Really considering this.

ETA: If I were to transfer URs to SW to book these, would I be able to cancel and rebook with Southwest points again if the prices drop? Or would I be better off just booking with URs at 1.25 with my CIP?

Yes if you were to transfer UR to SW you would be able to cancel and rebook with the points again, when they are transferred into SW from UR there is no way to distinguish where the points came from. Much better in my opinion to transfer vs. booking with CIP typically for SW.

Are you sure you don't want a bonus while you're at it? 2 birds with 1 stone and all that, lol. The Virtual Wallet with Performance Spend comes with a $200 bonus with $2000 direct deposit, the VW with Performance Select comes with $300 bonus with $5000 direct deposit. Both require 10 debit card transactions for the bonus (easy to do with Amazon reload). Many bank push transfers count as direct deposit. I used Chase checking. The account can be downgraded to a plain VW (easy to do online), which just requires $500 to keep fee free.

Or if you want really easy, the savings account is no monthly fee, no minimum balance. Just don't close it within 180 days ($25 fee). I opened that for DH some time after I opened the VW for him. Would have done the same for myself, but failed the identify verification questions for some reason (even though the VW went through fine).
well..... the bonus is obviously better...:thumbsup2 I'm just concerned about the DD requirement. unless I can 'play' with what that actually is, I can't switch my current DD situation simply. thanks for the info- I'll have to ponder a bit on this. IS there a high rate of denials for this? esp. if two spouses each open an acct?

furiously deletes all Hilton referral links

#truth

All, if you have DISchurners support links up that earn Hilton referral bonuses, I’d seriously consider taking them down and replacing your links with a universal referral from a MR-earning card, which earns MRs that are more valuable, flexible, and fairly valued.

Sorry for the rapid fire SW questions guys... you can tell I hardly ever book with them. If I book one ticket on CC at just the cash amount, I can still cancel that and get the money refunded right? I have some SW points I can transfer in from E-Rewards, but it will take a few to get them there. When those arrive, I'd like to cancel the cash ticket and rebook it on points if its still a good value.

I'm so excited about this!

If you book a cash ticket and you want an actual refund, you'll have to book one of the higher fare types, not a wanna get away. If you cancel a WGA fare you'll get the fare credit that is good for a year from the booking date.

I mean seriously, they're saying the 20k Hilton referral from the Aspire is worth $250. That's bananas. I would never trade tax liability for that valuation.

@Lain sorry if you responded to me the other day -- I need a credit card for dd. Chase said that she has to be 18 to have her own, so I will have to add a card and add her as an authorized user. I was thinking of the Chase Freedom or Freedom Unlimited. Thoughts?

Here's what I have -- though I think you may already know ;):
  • CSR: October 2016
  • CIP (business): July or August 2018
  • Chase Hyatt: July 2018
  • AmEx Hilton Aspire: December 2018
  • AmEx Hilton (Business): January, 2019
I think this puts me at 2/24 (if I count the CIP as a business card). I need to be careful how I fill my slots!

I need to cap her spending at $500.00 / month so hoping Chase will issue a card with a nice low limit for her.

As an aside, if my referral bonus posts (I referred myself to the Hilton Business card) I should be just 22,000 points shy of being ready to book the Conrad Maldives for 4 nights (plus 1 free night) in April, 2020 :yay::yay:!

Amex reportedly sending out 1099s for referral bonuses. Only one person so far but.... [insert bad language of your choice here] https://www.reddit.com/r/churning/comments/aloevw/discussion_thread_january_31_2019/efga3pz/

ETA: comments on reddit lots of people are getting them soon as seen in informed delivery. Appear to be going out for all cards folks. 1cpp on everything except for Hilton which is 1.25cpp.

Ugh, I was just coming her to ask about this. I had 3 envelopes, 5 1099's total. Total $$ $1126.50!!!!!!!!!!!!! Very unhappy about this!!!! That's insane! I didn't think I had that many referrals. Yep, I think after this MR is done, and maybe on more referral to DH to try for a BBP for him, we are done. I will eventually keep my Delta blue, my fee free Hilton and my BBP and everything else will go.

This 1099 thing pretty much made up my mind. I will NOT be using DH's link to open up the SPG personal card by the 12th. I think my BIZ will be closed when the AF hits in March, pffft to the free night. After I get over my MSR fatigue I think I will "chase" the Marriott cards instead.

We had a rat, or a mouse, in our garage years ago. It ate through all of our water bottles that we were storing out there (a few cases), then scraped the labels off of the glass ones trying to get to the seltzer water in those. He was unsuccessful in eating the glass, but luckily didn't go for our car! How awful! I had a pest guy come out and he said they need lots of water, that food is easy to find (no food in our garage), and that he/she wasn't getting in the house. I was still creeped out (and it was just the garage). He caught it, end of story, but you can't really keep them out if you open that garage door a few times every day.

I think the Minnie Vans look cute, but yeah, they are asking way too much $$$$ for them. We used Lyft and Uber and it was so much cheaper. How'd you like the YC?

No. No. No. No. NO!!!! :scared1: :sad1:  :scared1: We have an appt to get our taxes done soon and we aren't going to wait until late March. This is pretty pathetic and a nasty move on their part. Here refer your friend. Please refer your friend. Oh, we didn't bother to tell you this will make your taxes a mess. I'm disliking AMEX these days.

Well said.
Yc was amazing!!!! We just checked into cbr and are not impressed. We asked to switch rooms because the first one smelt like smoke or mildew.

Annnnnd to top it off, I'm trying to pay all my cards down to $0 for the end of the month as usual, and freakin' AMEX is giving me the System Not Responding error.

:badpc::badpc::badpc::badpc::badpc:

Guys, I won my item! I was the only bidder :rotfl: I am glad I didn't pull the trigger on their buy it now option for $20 higher. Now DHs birthday present is squared away, barring anything crazy.

I've had really good success on eBay with an Esnipe. I bid what I'm willing to pay and forget it. I set my bid for 2 sec before the end of auction. I end up paying the lowest amount that will win the bid. I think I purchased $20 worth of bids in 2013. I have won 30 bids and not won 22. It takes all the emotion out of the bid so you don't get carried away. Also, others have no idea that the bid is in place.
