I hear you. You obviously have to look at your total tax liability. Any one piece of the puzzle isn't terribly helpful. In FL I paid no state income tax or personal property tax, but my property tax was 3x what I pay now. And gas was expensive, homeowners' insurance cost me 5x what I pay now, etc.Um, well, I tend to have cars that are taxed quite a bit. As DH approaches FIRE, every little bit adds up.
@Andysol - do we think this works with biz and personal? It seems all DPs right now are on biz. I could see a scenario where it only worked on biz because well...Citi IT...

This guy is legit and reputable so this is absolutely a thing now. No mailers needed! I’ll update the info on DISchurners when I get a chance.
FYI: I don’t know if we have any DPs on personal. I think both of these were biz DPs. I’m not saying it won’t work on personal but I don’t think anybody truly knows that yet.
I seriously would consider Charlottesville but Dh said he isn’t as interested in that position. The move is all about him because I want him to be happy with his jobCongratulations! Charlottesville is beautiful. I'm an hour east but went to college there.
I figure if it's still churnable in 95 days
I’m really lucky that I’m a sub and don’t have to worry too much about leaving work and starting somewhere new. It still doesn’t feel really yet but I think we really are moving! How exciting!!! Congrats to your DH. I'm super jealous you are most likely moving to FL. I've always wanted to live there, I'm just a big chicken when it comes to starting new jobs.
No Beach Club owners that want to rent us points next March. We are waiting in line now...
If you use an EIN for the apps, you should be able to grab them every 75...![]()
That’s funny that your order is so different lol. I would put Virginia up higher but Dh isn’t as excited about that job so I don’t think we’re entertaining that one.Wow, that is great! Congrats! I think my desired order would be total opposite of your desired order. lol I think I would go CO, VA, FL, AL. But definitely look into COL and such when you do your salary comparisons. I think most importantly is to go for the job, not the location. Because a bad job in a good location could also suck.

The salary comparison would be huge in Florida compared to Colorado. The houses are about half the cost in the areas we’ve been looking in and both companies offered a similar amount. Dh is very interested in both jobs. At first he was more interested in the Colorado company but now he has switched after reading up more about each. He said the one in Florida is a lot more personal and his offer there was a lot better.
It is beautiful and historic. And cold. Really cold.DS was doing a school project last night about average amounts of precipitation each month in this year. 6 of the months had an average snow amount. That's just not right, winter shouldn't last 6 months. In the first and last month, the average was only 3 inches, but that's 3 inches too much... Of course it doesn't help my mindset that I was in FL yesterday with temps in the 80's, and home now with temps in the 30's.
Besides that, there's a lot of things to love about NE. But it's a big factor for me.
Lol I definitely can’t go off that list because Des Moines is #5 and I would never live there. But it’s interesting to see almost all of the places Dh applied are on that list. It gives us something to think about but I think Dh is pretty set on Florida. He doesn’t want to wait too long because someone else could take the position. Here you go @Haley R Just saw US News top 25 places to live in the US. Of course, I think most of these lists are full of bull, lol. But Melbourne, FL placed 25, Huntsville, AL placed 11th and Denver is 2nd and Colorado Springs is 3rd, not Littleton, but that is in between them so close enough.

Huntsville also ranked #1 on the 25 most affordable places to live.
I love that all of you are researching with me! LolI just looked at purchasing power for all 4. Huntsville was the only one with above average purchasing power. Charlottesville was below average. The other two were close to average. That's based on average annual salaries so it's not super helpful.
