I can't help you there. Haven't tried to use mine yet, but I can see them sitting in my account. Good luck!
Oh cool - where do you see them in your account? (I had assumed I didn’t receive this benefit). I don’t know why I’m Plat Elite as I don’t meet the nights requirement at all. I just assumed they made me Plat because they said “this guy has insane points - he has to be Plat”.

This is quite possibly irrational . . . we are thinking of going back to Costa Rica sooner rather than later. I really want to stay at the Andaz Papagayo before I lose the ability to use a free night there and before they increase the points price. So, of course, we need Southwest miles (and a companion pass?) before they release Dec 28th (ish) flights. So I'm guesstimating we'll need to hit MSR prior to mid-May.

I'd like to get both the business card (60K) for DH + personal (50K - hoping the link floating around actually works). He is only at 2/24. Most recent card apps were:

11/18/18 Ink Unlimited
1/1/19 Ink Cash

Can I and/or should I apply for both apps on the same day? Thinking of applying on 3/1.

Thoughts?

Don’t apply for both SW cards on the same day reports are Chase will close one even if it’s approved.
apply for the Business card first, then at least a day later the personal

Positive DP at least as of 2/13 for Southwest still working for airline fee reimbursement. I bought an actual SW ticket using my Plat. The amount was $83ish (balance after applying travel funds). I put it on my Plat for the 5x MR, never thinking it would trigger the reimbursement since it was an actual ticket. But I see a corresponding credit in my account this morning. This seems consistent with some other DPs I’d seen of small (under $100) Delta fare purchases triggering the reimbursement. I wouldn’t count on small fares always working, but I think this bodes well for SW gift cards continuing to work. I should know in the next day or two whether the gc I bought with my Rose Gold on 2/14 was reimbursed.

I need some advice from the experts here!

I just downgraded my husband's Capital One Venture card to the Venture One to avoid the annual fee. I wanted to keep it open because this is the first credit card he has had in his name. He is an authorized user on my Disney Visa and Discover cards both of which are 8-10 years old. It looks like I can transfer my Capital One Venture miles to his card and then close my account before the annual fee hits. Is there a disadvantage to doing this?

We are relatively new to churning. We have accumulated enough miles for a five night stay at Royal Pacific in October as well as flights with Southwest and the majority of our park ticket expense for that trip. Yay!

Heis at 1/24 (C1V). I am at 3/24 (C1V, SW Visa, and currently working on the minimum spend for Barclay Arrival +). What would you suggest for our next move to earn points for a 2021 Disney vacation? I am dying to run a half marathon at Disney World!

If you read all this, thank you!

Hi...you could concentrate on Chase UR earning cards...even though as of now Disney hotels can’t be booked with them there are plenty of offsite hotels you can book or you cash them out to pay for Disney hotels

If your interested in opening a Chase business card the Chase Ink Preferred CIP...has a 80k UR bonus after spending 5k the first 3 months......if not Chases personal cards the CSP and CSR each have a 50k UR bonus after spending $4k the first 3 months

Mine appear at the top of the activity page. Lol - you probably had elite nights combined from all your credit cards + they gave out a birthday night. Plus spend on the Marriott Business card. Awesome that you have Platinum! I mainly wanted it for the lounge access, but if I can use the suite upgrade, its a bonus!

That is interesting that 2 diff companies hold biz cards for American. I just activated my 1st Citi aa biz this morning and paid my 6 mth insurance premium. I did the $5k/75k thing. I hope to knock out the spend by the first statement. So maybe I will copy your plan and do the Barclays next. I don't have any Barclays cards...are they difficult?

Not hard to get your first Barclays card, but can be tough to get a second if you don't put some consistent spend on the first card. Only thing that was a pain for me getting the Aviator biz for both of us was identity verification. I had to MAIL in front and back copies of social security card, driver's license, and a bank statement. No fax, no email. It made me pretty nervous, but I haven't had any issues.

The Arrival+ is tricky to get, but Barclays seems to have lower approval thresholds for their other cards (AA Biz included). And yeah, mailing in your personal stuff is weird and a little nerve-wracking, but because Barclays is stuck in the 90s it's normal. It's a very common request for your first Barclays card.

Lol - I don’t see anything there so maybe you just “lucked into” platinum. It never made sense to me as I didn’t think I qualified but I’m not arguing LOL!

Have you had Platinum in the past?

I wouldn't argue either.

Just a PSA about the AmEx travel fee credits: you can usually tell a day before the fee reimbursement posts that it was triggered by looking at the benefits page -- if the fee was triggered, the countdown half circle that tells you how much the credit is should show that you have used the credit. So if you spent $50 thinking it would trigger the credit, before you see the $50 credit on the transactions page you should see that you've used $50 of your credit on the benefits page.

Because it took forever for the Hyatt to arrive (so no MSR to meet), DH has had a decent amount of spending on his Amex cards this last month. He has had the pop up issues plus. In theory I would want the Bonvoy Biz for him, but I don’t want to apply without the referral points at least and am worried that even if he did not get a pop up he would not get the sign up bonus. Any thoughts? I am also thinking maybe I just try for the BBP so at least I could get the 20k referral bonus from my BGR.

I have the BGR and Biz Plat. It seems that only business Amex cards that earn MR’s I am missing right now are the green and the BBP. Should I apply for one of them right now? Any thoughts which one? I am super paranoid because I don’t want to get the pop up by getting too many but at the same time it feels like if I go to slow with it that risks the pop up too. I know no one reallly knows with Amex but I just want to get what I can out of them before our inevitable divorce.

The Biz Green would be a very cheap test of where you are with Amex, and a good way to use your BGR’s 20k MR referral. The Biz Green SUB is only 5k MR, but Amex has been posting an extra 5k MR bonus. First year AF is waived. If you get the pop up, you still get the 20k MR from the BGR referral. If you don’t, you should get the referral and a total of 10k MR SUB. You earn the SUB after a single purchase of any amount, so you should find out quickly whether you’ve been hit with a no pop up denial. The Biz Green has absolutely terrible bonus categories, so there’s no reason to put any spend on it. But to keep Amex happy (don’t know how well that’s going for me), I put a monthly recurring donation to my public radio station and my monthly subscription to MyFICO (both of which earn only 1x on all my other cards anyway) on my Biz Green and sockdrawered it.

Yesterday I finally added the Safeway app so that I could buy the discounted visa gift cards! It all happened because of some rice krispies!

DD wanted rice krispie treats so I went into Safeway to buy rice krispies. Forgot my 'readers' in the car.

But, I was able to read the price of an 18 ounce box - $5.49 and reluctantly started carrying it to the cash register. (I never buy overpriced cereal.)

And oh my what should I see but an end cap with a display that offered 3 of the 12 ounce boxes for $5. Or twice the ounces for less money. But you had to have the app....

Now, no way was I going to pay $5.49.

So I went to customer service and a young guy helped me down load the app and purchase the cereal at the discount price. Can barely see my phone without the readers. I know how to use my phone - just couldn't see what I was doing!

And, after going to the car and getting my readers I opened the app again and saw the gift card promo good until 2/26.

Sometimes I think these promos are a bit discriminatory against the elderly or sight impaired. For instance, Target makes you put in a code to use a gift card to pay. Even with readers I can't read the code. So I have to stand in the long line to check out or go to self checkout and hope someone random helps me by reading me the numbers such as yesterday. I hate it. And, in my Target don't expect the person watching self checkout to come help you unless you do the nudge to disengage them from chatting with other employees or their friends.

Where's @miztressuz - didn't old gold turn into new Platinum? You may be on the tail end of your Marriott Gold benefit. I don't really know - just guessing.
Yeah we had some discussion about this back when I (and others) became Plat. With my big (maybe) 1 stay at a Marriott this year, you can tell I’m taking full advantage LOL

What is the total credit limit/% income ratio that throws alarm bells at Chase? I'm trying to figure out if we need to reduce some credit limits for DH before applying for both SW Busn and personal. Do they look at both Busn and personal together?
