I saw someone ask but don’t think I saw any responses.
Can someone remind me of the cancellation policy if I cancel a room I booked at WDW with AA miles? I vaguely remember a fee of $150 but don’t remember what it was for. Can I pay the fee and get my points back?
Its been a rough month and I found out today that I have stage 2 cancer and need to have a chunk of my liver removed, most likely between 4-6 weeks from now. So it likes I won’t be running the half marathon or staying at the GF this year. I’m hoping we can do a trip to celebrate everything going well in a few months but at this time I have no clue when that might be.
Sorry to hear that news, fingers crossed and good thoughts you're on track to good health again soon. :grouphug:

The cancellation terms will probably depend on if you used useaamiles or aavacations to book the room. Here's a post from @amalone1013 with information from what looks like useaamiles - https://www.disboards.com/threads/i...t-page-for-addl-details.3729982/post-61006959

I don't recall if anyone actually did it with aavacations, but their terms mention a $200 penalty - https://www.aavacations.com/terms.asp

With either site I'd definitely give them a call and explain the situation, they may be able to extend exceptions or waivers to reduce the fee.

Hi all... did you guys see this??? Waived annual fee for the first year WITH all those perks? RUN... see if it comes up for you! Anyone know if you can hold more than one Aspire card at a time? (Also, be sure to click on *rates and fees... that's where the waived annual fee shows up!) . This would seriously be worth it, even without the 150k SUB. I'm a huge fan of the Aspire card for the Waldorf Astoria (Bonnet Creek) in March (It ends up being a 1cpp redemption during my March trips and I almost always get upgraded to "Disney Fireworks View")and the Grand Wailea on Maui, just to name two great redemptions.

I just checked and it looks like I’m pre-approved but I’m a little worried about the proximity of no fee aspire apps to shutdowns. Anyone think they have anything to do with each other? I don’t have any other suspicious activity that I know of. It sounds like a great deal on this card but I don’t want to anger the RAT. I love my MR cards.

In the past, I would have answered "I like trains and the ride from DC is easy and quick" and while that is true to some extent, I've not often talked about the real reason because I'm very ashamed of it and have only recently come to terms with it. The truth is I'm very emetophobic, at times dehabilitatingly so. Couple that with chronic vertigo easily triggered by motion sickness and flying can be a total disaster for me.

I've spent most of this year working on my issues and I hope to be able to fly again issue-free next year, so hope springs eternal.
Phobias are irrational, the very definition. Nothing to be ashamed about. It’s great that you’re working on it since clearly it bothers you very much. I have a relatively mild arachnophobia which my husband sometimes laughs about. I know in my head spiders are mostly harmless. Doesn’t stop me from freaking out. I did force myself to hold a tarantula once which actually helped a little to desensitize.
Good luck and hope you make the progress you desire.

You're from Kansas too?? Cool!
I don't have any side businesses really. Just shop for our local All Night prom. We do have a tax ID number, but it's not in my name, of course. I bartend part time at Sprint Center and work part time at a winery in addition to my full time job.
Any advice since I don't have any businesses??
Shopping for All Night Prom sounds like a party planning business to me :)

I’m so sorry and thinking good thoughts for treatment and recovery.

Link isn't working now for the waived annual fee but I just got the Hilton Biz, does that disqualify me from getting the SUB? I did click through to the application and it said that I was pre-approved. Anyone know what that means?

My dh was 'pre-approved' also but then got the pop-up so I backed out of the app. If you have had this card before (last 7 years), then you would be disqualified from earning the sub. Or you are in pop-up jail.

You're right that the link is no longer working. It will be interesting to see if it comes back or if Amex pulled it already.

Well I guess that answers my question, LOL. I don't need to worry about the proximity of application to shut downs if the link is dead. Wonder if it was a mistake?

I've been going back and forth all day on this offer. I went to apply tonight but couldn't find my HH number. I didn't want to apply without it so decided to call HH tomorrow to get some help. And now the link is not working. So, maybe it will come back up or maybe it was a mistake??...Either way, I can forget about it for tonight. Though, knowing me, I will wake up at 3am and stay awake for 3 hours (my norm) and I'll be checking on the link for us all lol!

I've been going back and forth since I saw it as well. I just read through the comments on DOC and there was some speculation that it was meant for active duty military. I'll be checking the link again, too :)

Me: *must go back and reread my post...*

Nothing as of right now. I went back and forth all day too and was debating but didn't do it at around 9:30pm our time

I think we are going to pull the trigger to use our Busch Gardens and Sea World tickets that we got from Daily Getaways, next week. It's not crazy to plan this and plan on flying next Wednesday night, right? lol

Thinking about flying into MCO, and out of Tampa Monday morning so we can have the longer Sunday hours at Busch Gardens. Sea World only opens an hour earlier on the weekends currently so it's not as big of a loss there if we do a weekday.

I was all ready to book the Residence Inn by Sea World until I saw the resort fee and parking charge :crazy2: So need to look at the other Marriott hotels there. I think I'll use some of our FN certs. Which leads to my churning fail for the week... DH had a FN cert that expired because it slipped my mind to call in and extend it 🤦‍♀️

Now to decide what to do with the other 2 days. We have seasonal Universal APs so we are blocked out of Studios on the weekend. Thinking about some ideas people gave me :)

I think it’s great that you can plan on short notice! I am flying down next Tuesday for a trip I planned almost a year ago! But that’s just me. I am hoping to start doing more trips and will try some with less advance planning in the future. Doesn’t work well with DVC though, so those trips will keep booking ahead of time for.

I'm looking at it from the perspective of someone who lives in CO. Our winters are surprisingly warm, even when temps are low, it can feel pretty nice. FL was having a cold snap when we were there so it was 40's at night and in their damp climate, it was pretty darn chilly! I think normal Dec isn't too bad and I'm hoping we get that this time.
We went a number of years ago and flew out of MCO with 30 below wind chill thinking the FL chilly forecast was a joke comparatively speaking, but it was no joke. We wore coats and mittens, it was in the 40's which should have felt like a heat wave but the humidity does a number on the comfort level.
Quoting myself to report back that my lowly Silver was good enough :) I received a very quick response back from SWA congratulating me on the status match. Now, I need to find three RT flights to keep it going for a year :)
I have the trips but need a status :(
My CSR AF just posted and my $300 travel credit renewed. I would have never believed I’d be so excited about keeping a CC with such a high AF but I am.
:dance3:
My AF posted in Sept but it indicates the $300 travel credit won't be available until 12/20. I'm so confused by this.
New plastiq promo for November!!

I have an account but I don't use it. Provided I can find a similar offer could I prepay my taxes?

Just having multiple credit cards from one bank is weird. It may be normal in the churning world, but in the real world it's not normal. Most people have 2-3 cards. Nothing people do on these threads is exactly normal.
[/QUOTE]

I disagree. Every non churner which is pretty much most people, friends and family that I know hold multiple cards with the same bank. Prior to discovering travel hacking I held multiple cards with the same bank. A person opens up one card, gets comfortable using it and the bank issuer will begin sending them information and pre approvals on their other products. It is more likely for a person to apply with a bank they are familiar with and have a relationship with than to go exploring different bank products. Whenever someone asks me about travel hacking and I ask what cards they have,100% of the time the answer has been multiple cards with the same bank. Just my two cents and what I’ve seen. I’d be surprised with someone who doesn’t churn having different cards from different banks.

I know quite a few people who only have a few cards, which are all from the same bank. I was even just talking to my BIL and his SO last night and they have three AMEX MR cards and that's it... Biz Plat, Biz Gold, and Everyday. It was kinda funny to me because SO feels he knows a lot about credit cards. To his credit over the last year he has finally learned a lot of his CC benefits which he was not taking advantage of, which is good. He is one of those people that pays his points no mind though and first didn't realize he was earning them, and then he wasn't earning the correct amount and didn't know that either. He doesn't realize that the benefits on biz and personal cards are different though, as he was telling me about getting a rebate when paying with points on the Platinum, among other things
