I have $1250 in repairs for my heat pump I will need to pay this week. I'll probably put it on Capital One Venture even though it would finish my Citi AA Biz. I want to get those Venture points so I can book our Jetblue flight to Orlando for February and also buy our Universal tix. I kind of like that card, even though I haven't actually used the points for anything yet. I might pick up one for DH.

I like the venture also, just opened one for myself. So on MSR Sunday, I'm still waiting for the venture to come in but it will be mostly taken care of with our propane pre-buy for the year.
Otherwise, have about 1K left on Hilton Biz.

Saving P2 up for the SW companion pass.

Since you are the MS expert....at Walmart does it work at any cashier or just customer service...

I've only ever done it at a regular register with a regular cashier. I think I've been lucky that each one (only 2 or 3 times, so not a very large sample), knew how to do it no issue.

Staples is fee free $200s again this week? Last time, one of the Staples about 15 minutes away told me there was a $2000 limit. That was nice. I may check my super close one first, as last time I didn't check that one.

MSR Sunday

P1 - CIP about $130 to go by 11/25
P2 - CIP about $320 to go by 11/02

And it's time to take the upgrade offer on P2's bonvoy whatever to the super fancy whatever it's called ($5k spend for 125k points). We shop a lot at Costco so those visas will be used there. And I'll buy Costco gift cards to finish them off closer to the required dates. That way we can put everything else toward the Amex.

I know @Lain and others had suggested applying for the card and then taking the upgrade to double dip, but I don't think we'll be able to manage it. The only reason we both currently are working on CIPs is we just got a new roof.

Also, not sure my husband would be eligible for the bonus as a new card. He got the Chase Marriott biz less than 2 years ago, does that disqualify him? I can't keep all the new rules straight.

I know you said it is difficult to get to, but could you try to pool CF gift cards from the credits and use them on 1 big meal rather than being torn on a monthly dessert? If you do, just save your receipts! I believe @snugglebug had posted that she got a GC that had a $0 balance on it.

I have a coworker who shares my love of CF and this is one of her favorite perks of the gold card! She actually told me sometimes Amex just credits it to her on the first of the month when she hasn't even been to CF yet. I found that weird, but we definitely go monthly so she would easily get her $120 🤣
Yes, I buy a $10 card each month, then used them for DD2's birthday dinner. I did get one with $0 balance. Paired with not so great service, I did send them an email about my issues, they sent me a $15 card in return.

CCF is not convenient at all. A few times I've had DD1 stop and grab a card on her way to work, but that takes planning. Otherwise, I just drive down there. I don't know if buying today is going to trigger this month's credit so I may miss this month.

ShakeShack is even inconvenient and the GH selections for us are pretty limited from my last check.

Didn't Costco used to show how much you'd earned in rewards so far with an Executive membership on your account page?

Awesome to know about PayPal for Princess Cruises!

What itinerary are you looking at in Mexico?

It's a 5 night with 2 days at Cabo. I've always wanted to go there and this is cheaper than a land only option. We'll see. My gut tells me Disney pricing is going to be bonkers - we'll know soon enough.

The hard part now is declining invites from friends to join them after hockey practice etc.

That is my downfall, softball not hockey though lol We try to pack food for tourneys, but the team always heads to some restaurant.
We have late practice 3 nights a week and I like to use at least 2 of those to get school done with DS2 rather than make dinner. Plus, dh does most of the cooking here and he's at practice. Makes it so easy, and desirable, to do a Chipotle/In-n-Out run.

I noticed earlier today that on the day we're flying home (aug 30), both of these are currently showing available on points. 40k for the 8am and 80k for the 9am. Very weird since it's beyond the 11 month mark, and nothing else shows up.

I definitely want the business class on the 9am flight home. Hoping when it's available on the Chase portal, it's available at the $659 price.

I ended up booking us out on Aug 20 at 11am for $659 through the portal so about 43,900 pts each. Could have taken the 7am ish flight on the 787-10 for the same amount, but without giving my husband details, we decided the 11am flight worked better. So we don't have to get up at a crazy early hour. And I didn't want to tell him we could sleep on the plane since he doesn't know we'll be in lie flat seats :). He has a hard time sleeping so he may not have been able to anyway.

We did the 7 night Mexican riviera on Wonder and loved it. So much better than Western Caribbean in my opinion. We didn’t pick a good excursion for Cobo so it was our least favorite port but I think we’d enjoy it more with a less crowded beach.

Puerto Vallarta was our favorite (day pass at all inclusive Hyatt) and we did a culture tour in Mazatlan that was fun. Felt like we were in Spain. I want to do that cruise again. And it was the cheapest Disney cruise we did.

DP

Pulled up 50K with 10K support from P2 for Amex Personal Gold but got the pop-up. First time for me 😡

I closed my Plat a few weeks ago and haven’t been putting much spend on Amex aside from MSR. I’m going to move my BCP to the front of my wallet and focus all grocery spend on there as well as some other non bonused spend. I’ll report back on progress. Maybe this was a sign to wait until later in the year to try and triple dip the airline credit.

OM is pretty close to us, Staple not so much. I’ll be trekking to Staples today though since I have a couple 10% off on Chase cards. Then I’ll hit OM a couple times this week, probably finish up MSR on Citi card.

gah, I keep forgetting about that dang Staples offer on DH’s Hilton Biz! Need to replenish my Disney GC stash...

I think it can be quicker than the train. We got snacks and stuff on the Shinkansen. They will come around with a cart and there is a menu if you want to eat anything. We got the JR pass anyway so it made sense for us to take the train

I need to look into the passes and figure out what we’re going to do. I know we’ll be using public transportation around Tokyo, the train from Tokyo to Osaka, and then from Osaka into Kyoto for the day. I need to plan our best option. Now that Disney is over, I can spend some more time looking at stuff!

We did the 72-hour metro pass while in Tokyo and that worked great for us. I used this website to determine if the JR pass was worth it: https://www.japan-guide.com/railpass/ You input all of your trips and it tells you if you'll make your money back buying a pass

Thanks will probably try there this week...so far have just gone to FD
