I'm so behind! 13pages, darn work!
I got a phone when I turned 16 and started driving. The free sanyo flip phone out at the time lol. Then just before I left for college, just under two years later, I got an LG Rumor, which had a slide out keyboard, and we added texting. Seriously we stopped on our way out of town that night

I never learned to text without a full keyboard. Id been begging and offering to pay for texting for months. My sister also got the free flip phone then, at 14, since she was in more activities than I'd been.
Our upgrade date was always in the fall, and my sophomore year of college, my dad decided the responsible adults should all get blackberries. So we all got Curves and data/internet access and there was no turning back for me! I really liked that phone but most sites weren't mobile friendly yet lol. And if you're following this was only about a year from the last upgrade. My dad was always kind of into gadgets and computers...
Then when 2 years rolled around again my dad and I both read reviews to figure out the best new phones for us... I cant remember, my sister might have been included in the fancy smart phones now at 17. Or gotten a BlackBerry passed down. We settled on Motorola smartphones for having the best reviews at the time. Those were good phones too.
I know iPhones came out sometime, and my sister had been asking for one for awhile. I had friends with them and... wasnt impressed

This was 2013 and the few years prior. Everyone I knew either loved it or was indifferent, and they were expensive, no storage, insurance didnt cover anything on them (at the time), broke easily... so when my dad asked me what I thought of them, vs other phones out there, I gave him my laundry list of issues, I had zero interest in them and had always been a PC girl anyways, and also compared them against some other android phones that I would prefer. I didnt care if my sister got one if she wanted one so bad, but I wanted something else
Christmas rolls around and there are TWO iPhone 5cs. Those were the colored plastic ones (I can see
@MKTokyo cringing lol). Basically my new evil stepmother thought iPhones were the best and that overrode my personal decision on whatever android I preferred

Even though she was not as techy as I was, not even close. The 5c was sized slightly differently than they 5 and 5s so none of the accessories ever fit. I was upset it was only 16gb because I'd already had an sd card in my old 32gb phone... the best thing about it was I got $300 for selling it to Verizon 2 years later
Then I got a Motorola Droid Turbo 2 which was great until at two years it started crashing all the time. Now I've got a Galaxy S8 which is two years old this month. I liked my Droid better. Now I've got that itch since it's been 2 years, but on the other hand I like my $60 phone bill...
